It's tough to find good Taiwanese dramas. I only watched the first couple episodes of Smiling Pasta too. Not one of the better ones. A good melodrama is Mars. If you like crime drama Black and White is good so far. I think Taiwan's better dramas are actually the serious ones that don't use over-the-top acting .

No matter what country it's from or celebrity that's in it, I always worry about shows like this that give big…
I'm hoping too :). Past experiences with high hopes being dashed have left me uncertain for future projects. But for Lee Min Ho's fans' sakes I hope they aren't disappointed.
No matter what country it's from or celebrity that's in it, I always worry about shows like this that give big hype before it's released. What if it's not as good as the hype makes it to be? I'll probably watch this in due time, but like all big-hype shows/movies I'm not getting my hopes up too high. (I'm a bit of cynic... sorry -.-)
It's nice to know the names of the locations of the places they film at. I always recognize the landmarks but I only knew a few by name. Thanks for the fun article :)

I want to see Good Doctor too. ToGetHer is more of a rich celebrity with an attitude and heart of gold meets quiet poor girl. But it was a surprisingly good taiwanese drama.
Yeah, my Mom's grandparents were both german. Even my Dad's family has a German background. But my family is basically mutts. It's just that my great-granddad was the most recent immigrant.
Yeah we talked a bit about the learning languages earlier: I'm also a bit lazy to learn languages. I just manage random phrases and words.

It's rare to find an Asian drama where the character has a mental illness (other than amnesia or a close OCD). Though I've found a couple dramas/movies where one of the characters has the mental capacity of a child - like in ToGetHer; George Hu played his role wonderfully :). Wunderbar! (one of the few German words I know, but I think Deutsch sounds better). Now I'm wishing my great grandfather passed on the German language to his kids. Then I'd probably know German too. There's another language I need to learn!

I really liked it. It's one of my faves - I think because there's very little melodrama in it. You know how many romantic comedies start out really funny and then half-way through there's some kind of serious stuff inserted? Well the serious stuff in this show is not very serious. It keeps its lightness throughout the show. Also I relate to the main male character because of his anxiety problems.
It's probably not for everyone, but for me it was enjoyable. I tend to gravitate toward shows and movies where one of the characters has a mental illness (even if it's not the main focus of the story).

When I first started watching drama (2011) I watched Protect the Boss and Scent of a Woman while they were still airing. I got so frustrated waiting for each episode. I later decided to just wait. The dramas are over in a few months and during that time I can watch something else.
Unfortunately I have a long list of older dramas I want to watch and these countries keep pumping out new dramas. I'll never catch up! o.O

I wanted to watch Master's Sun when it first started airing. However, from past experience I have learned that I get super impatient while waiting for the release of the next episode. So it's best for me to forget about a show until it has finished and then get excited about it.

Vampire Heaven, yes. from what I've heard it's not that great, but I thought I'd get it out of the way. I've seen the first 3 episodes so far. Yeah.. a bit cheesy. But why not. I'll probably watch a couple movies after I finish the show and then move on to another drama. I'm thinking "Master's Sun" since it deals with ghosts and it finishes this week. Just in time for me to watch before the month is over! :)

It wasn't bad. It's a pretty somber show. The acting wasn't great but it was watchable. I'll have to watch the anime to get the full story I guess. 12 episodes of drama vs 26 episodes of anime? Yeah, a bit missing there.
now off to watch something that seems cheesy... that's ok. I've been in the mood for cheese lately. :P

will do... though I'm thinking at this point the anime is much better. I only have 4 episodes of the drama left.

yes I've started my Halloween watch. I'm starting with the jdrama Hell Girl which is based on the anime. I've only seen a couple of the episodes of the anime so I can't compare them yet. I might watch it after I'm done with the drama.

Well, since Netflix and Hulu are around I've changed my ways regarding western TV. :) Plus, in the past I used to watching late-night reruns on TV of older shows. This kind of got me in the habit of watching shows later. To tell the truth, since I started watching Asian drama I spend so much time watching them that I rarely spend time for our American shows.

I haven't seen The Mentalist, but I know of it. I actually don't watch too many American shows. I only watch them once they've stopped their run and are on Netflix or Hulu. It's just too much of a bother to wait each week for the new episodes and then wait out the summer for the next new season to begin. I get bored with that process very easily. It's simpler for me to watch it when they've run their course and I can watch them on my own pace... just like what I do for Asian dramas ;). I do the same thing with British TV shows - wait until they're done airing and then watch them.

I only did volunteered a short time. But I basically just helped sort and shelve the returned books. It's a good way to see what books are available at the library. As I'd sort through the books I'd be like, "Ooh! I want to read this!" or "this looks interesting!". :)

I think 10% of my mines were because of me. So I'm generally pretty reliable.
I wish I could stay comfortably in the library. We have a small library in our town, but it's still very busy - apparently our town is a town of readers! O.O. So the best I can do is browse their website for books, put the books on hold, and then pick up from the library desk.
But I love the library too... when I can stay. Several years ago I even used to volunteer at the library. I'd like to do that again.

my kids no longer use my library card (they kept losing theirs) so I won't have to worry much about fines for awhile.

I actually turn on a random tv show on Netflix that I've seen before and fall asleep to the noise. -.- For me it's a soother. Plus after a while Netflix will stop streaming the show so at least it doesn't play all night while I sleep.
Library problems! I've done that before. All my past fines (which are few) have been because I forget to extend the deadline. I haven't borrowed for awhile though.
