Oh, I remember that song in Strictly Ballroom (loved the movie!). I think it fit the mood of Coupling pretty well :) Though, whenever I hear it I think of Coupling rather than Strictly Ballroom. Steve and his speeches. Ah I miss Jeff. He was my favorite character. Yeah, I definitely need to see that series again.

:) Yeah, it's pretty different. So far there's no melodrama whatsoever. Basically dating and love and break-ups for the late 20s and 30-something crowd. And the awkward and funny situations that happen during the process. Oh, and I meant to say it was about 36 min long not 26 minutes (think I was still in anime mode when I typed that).

I feel like I'm writing a report for it. :D

I really loved Coupling. Been a while since I've seen it. Maybe I should watch it again also ^.^

It's almost $7. Anyway, that's about how it is with me. If it's $5-10 I'll pick it up.
I liked Orange Days too. I thought it was well done up to the end. It was one of the first 10 Japanese dramas I watched. :)

Actually I haven't been indicating on MDL what I'm currently watching. So I am in fact actually watching something. I'm currently watching 'Soulmate'. It's an older Korean drama (2006) but it's really good. Sort of like Friends, Coupling, and Sex & the City all mixed into one. It's a refreshingly different k-drama. Each episode is only about 26 minutes so it goes by rather quickly. I'm about 1/2 done. I have a couple other dramas I was watching, but fell out of the mood to watch them. Just haven't been in the mood lately for a police drama so it's taking me a while to finish 'Black & White'. I'm getting bored with 'I Need Romance'. But I'll finish those 2 eventually.

yeah... I have trouble with patience too. Oh, good DVDs are difficult to find at thrift shops I've noticed. But I always look. So I still buy most of my DVDs at clearance price.

On occasion we'll spot a good DVD at the thrift store. I have no problem buying movies 2nd hand :). But for movies I absolutely love I'll splurge a bit and buy them as soon as they come to DVD. Otherwise I wait a few years until they're on clearance.

Well when my kids were really little we watched it once. That's how I know. :) Having kids makes you know about things you wouldn't know otherwise

Yeah.. Hare+Guu is very very weird. it made me scratch my head a few times

Thank you! When you said 'brave' the first thing that popped into my head was "The Brave Little Toaster".

Ah! I remember the weird anime that I couldn't remember earlier! It was Haré+Guu -- I think I'll rewatch it and see if my opinion of it has changed.

Uh.. even I don't understand many of the terms in the article o_O. I know the simplified version from how my doctor explained. I'm guessing I'm in the first stage since I didn't wait for too long before seeing the eye doctor. Early detection-early treatment right now. Anyway, it's all good, at least it's not life-threatening. It's manageable and survivable. ^.^

my eyes? Spontaneous Recurrent Corneal Erosion - emedicine.medscape.com/article/1195183-overview
I'm okay now that I've been getting treatment. But I'm still panicky about it and won't even open my eyes in the morning without my moisturizing eye drops. Even though I wear 24-hr contacts. Anyhow, one of my biggest fears is not being able to see. so even though I don't mind the dark in general I still need a night-light to prevent anxiety.
You know in those shows/dramas where someone can't see all of a sudden and they get panicky? Yeah, I totally relate to that. It's a scary thing. I really admire those who are blind that can live a relatively normal life.

I know! Right? :D So I'm trying to take good care of my eyes so I don't damage them further (long story) - hence my eye drops and ophthalmologist bill. The longer I keep my vision the better. No blindness in my family. So I have high hopes :). You (and most of the members here) are still young enough to do preventative care. I'm not that old, but I still feel like I wasted my youth D:

I'm the same. I'll be happy learning conversational Japanese rather than the full on grammar and writing course. Just so long as I can understand what people are saying (what if I go blind and I can't read subtitles anymore?!?!)

I love "Daily Lives of High School Boys". I found it hilarious -- and weird too. Haven't seen 'Nodame' or 'Tonari', but the other 2 I really love too.
As much as I love Korean dramas I still seem to favor the Japanese... probably cause I've a history with anime too. I would love to learn both languages though. :)

That anime took place on a tropical island and it was pretty weird... I remember thinking "why am I even watching this?" it was that kind of weirdness.. even though I say "why am I.." I still like those sorts of shows.
High School Debut has 13 volumes. Despite that it's taking me a while to get through it. So I can understand not wanting to read more than 20 volumes of a manga. So I applaud your perusal of Bleach
I think I've only seen 3 dramas longer than 30 episodes. Of course the one's episodes(Full House 2) were just 1/2 hr each so that was like watching 16 one-hour long episodes. The other 2 I managed to barely tolerate the length.
I don't like to skip-watch either so even with 20+ episodes I get antsy if the drama has lagging moments. I like dramas that are 16 episodes or less. This is probably why I watch more J-dramas than any other

It's been a long while since I've seen Lucky Star. I mostly remember Konata the Otaku and her parts. But I do remember enjoying it overall. I remember watching one anime (can't remember what it was called) where I wasn't impressed with the animation, but the story itself was hilarious. I should try finding it again.

Well if the Skip Beat manga isn't done then I don't know if I'll ever get around to trying it. I don't watch long animes and dramas for that reason. It's it goes on and on and on I get bored pretty quickly. D:

Also, the Skip Beat drama only covers a small portion of the manga. So I will probably have to read it in order to find out how it ends.

Nichijou is along the same lines as Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh. It's the daily, crazy, and random lives of a group of school friends. I happened upon a clip at youtube and decided it was funny and random enough for me to try watching it.

In the anime her name is still Kyoko. I forgot her name in the drama.

Yes, I'm doing the thriller theme for halloween. I did it last year too. I don't necessarily like gore horror, more like suspense and scary. I also like horror-comedy.I even like the cheesy and campy kind.
I like sad movies too, but with my anxiety the melodrama which makes me angry and frustrated just frazzles my nerves. Especially when a crazy controlling parent or obsessively jealous rival is involved.

I'm the same way. That's why I like watching the movie/drama first. If possible.

As for anime, right now I'm watching Skip Beat... after watching the Taiwan version of it I was curious as to how the anime was. I may or may not read the manga too. I'm also watching Nichijou.

Is One Fine Day in the melodrama category? I see it's a romance. I can't handle anything heavy right now. So I'm putting the melos and other serious dramas on hold for now. Come October though, I'll be doing a scary/horror/thriller theme month.

So far the High School Debut manga is good. I'm glad I watched the movie first. After reading 1/2 the manga so far, I do think they did a good job with the Haruna and Yoh characterizations in the movie.

I have yet to read the Death Note manga. I just haven't had time or interest enough to read manga. I'm just barely now watching anime again. But for anime I'm pretty picky about what I watch since it takes away from my drama time ;).

Actually. come to think of it, since watching some movies and dramas that are based on manga/anime it's restored my motivation to watch the anime. I even am willing to try manga too... even though I never really read it in the past much.
