Whoever said that Tianzhen takes one step forward and two steps back is so right. Like that should just pop up…
You are so right that he hasn't even asked her or her parents !!! This makes me even more certain he has no intention of moving in with her, he's just using this as a bluff against his mom😑
Great analysis! The whole plot around MM could have been written in a more careful way. As it is, things are going…
I totally agree, the way her story is written has a lot of gaps and I am not sure if everything will be answered as this wraps up. Theres a lot about her story that makes me uncomfortable.
I was also wondering exactly what you described. Why is it that she was drawn to RTZ only? She talked to TT at the grocery store, she hugged the mom initially and seemed to trust her, and she also hugged TT when she didn't get kicked out of the program. But for the most part she's overly attached to RTZ with very minimal interactions with anyone else (she also carries around the stuffed toy he won for her.... is it like a safety blanket? something to cling on for anxiety?)
Maybe its the fact RTZ gives her constant attention unlike the other people (maybe she truly only feels safe with him because he's always there if she needs right now?). And it could also be like you said the mom declared TT to be the only girl allowed to live there.... MM could be feeling jealous or wanting to replace her own family with this family. Her story line needs to be addressed from more of a psychiatry perspective which the show has been lacking. As doctors RTZ's mom and dad should be able to step in and recommend treatment for MM and her family but his mom made it seemed like she was just kicking MM out to fend for herself which also probably triggered RTZ.
RTZ doesn't get attention from his dad (and it impacts him a lot) and MM doesn't get attention from either of her parents. That slight connection could be another reason why he feels so strongly to stand up for her? Maybe we will get more answers tomorrow?
There hasn't been a lot of dramas where there's been a character I find as confusing as MM (maybe if we knew what medical condition she had this would make more sense?). Let me start by saying I don't think RTZ has feelings for MM. He feels a sense of responsibility for her, and I think he's using moving out as an excuse to pressure his mom into letting MM live with them. I think in his mind he views MM in a more childlike way which is why he doesn't see where his behaviour crosses the line with her (where as with TT he says 'men and women shouldn't touch each other'). With TT he has conversations like an equal where as he tip toes on eggshells around MM.
The scenes MM has with RTZ are as close to a couple who has just started dating as it can get. Like when they were holding each other when they had stomach pains, RTZ sitting with MM as she falls asleep, her general codependency on him, the countless scenes of them watching sunsets and eating meals together.... Watching them I think eventually MM will start to have feelings for the male lead (if she doesn't have them already).
I also don't feel like MM's character is as child like as she is portrayed (but again really hard to evaluate without knowing her mental state/condition accurately). I don't think the male lead is qualified to cure her or provide her the care she needs which is the most disturbing part and the fact that the master can't figure that out is confusing me. Like she isn't better, what is RTZ doing to fix her? He won't be a permanent fixture in her life, her not working on her own issues and growing to depend on him more and more isn't helping anyone. MM's parents need to step up and do that family counselling thats clearly much needed here.
At this point of the show I don't think RTZ has romantic feelings for either MM or TT. TT and RTZ at this point are like siblings (but I do think they have a lot of potential for a slow burn romance and a really deep and enduring love. They already understand each other pretty well.). MM and RTZ also might be a really cute couple if MM works on her issues separate from RTZ. But like the mom is saying RTZ needs to distance himself from this girl before something tragic happens (which the show might be setting up for......) sigh. Didn't she have an ectopic pregnancy because a guy took advantage of her? Clearly she needs therapy, and not to get confused about feelings/relationships even more by the weird treatment RTZ is giving her. If I put myself in her position it would be so hard not to develop feelings for someone who treats you the way RTZ treats her.....
Things I liked: - RTZ squatting with TT for the punishment - The conversation where RTZ asked TT why she took the punishment for him (that scene had me in tears) - the conversation between master and Rebecca (her personality makes a lot more sense to me now)
Things that I disliked: - RTZ's general disrespect for his family (his family is too lenient with him....maybe because he's the only child) - the dad not knowing his sons age.... I know that's a big reason why he acts the way he does - TT taking blame for RTZ again!!!!!! - RTZ not taking ownership for his actions and letting other people take blame for his mistakes (this really bothers me) - my heart breaks for the mom who has to shoulder everyone's opinions and displeasures - MM hiding in the closet, her petulant attitude when the mom wanted to have a family meeting - RTZ wanting to move out of his house for MM???????? - RTZ taking advantage of his mom's leniency with him -.-
I am so glad to find you here! It's been too long since LLTG. Whenever I feel that my opinion of RTZ cannot become…
Hey!! So good to see you here too xD!! Honestly I didn't expect RTZ's character to be like this or to say the things he does, so I'm still trying to come to terms with that.... he has good qualities but also lots of questionable things he does and says... and he doesn't seem to appreciate all the privileges and good things he has going in his life. He isn't that young either (to use that as an excuse for him being immature).
and don't even get me started on how confused I am about him and MM lol.
Things I thought were cute (Episode 15) - mostly related to RTZ and TT - How worried TT was for RTZ as he glided off the mountain - How they both seem to have an adventurous side and also a common connection through TCM. - I also really like how TT is someone who seems to keep up with the multiple layers of RTZ's personality and call him out - I liked RTZ explaining his challenges list to TT - TT owning her identity as the successor of the acupuncture sect with pride - TT trying to get the amulet back because she cares about her Nephew and Niece and family - I LOL'ed when TT ran into RTZ's mom outside the pawn shop - How RTZ seems unable to keep any secrets from his mom and grandpa (they both seem to know all his secrets)
Things that made me sad - RTZ's inability to understand what being an orphan is like (saying that TT is fortunate because her life belongs to her. That is so undervaluing and showing a lack of empathy for the challenges and hardship and heartbreak she has gone through) - when RTZ sold his agarwood pendant (family heirloom) - his lack of respect in general for his family's feelings
And also I haven't yet seen any indication the ML or FL like each other or have any sort of attraction or feeling towards each other. And yes its totally fine if this is not a romance, I guess we will see as the story progresses. I haven't yet watched episode 16 - will do that after a bit of a break.
hey friend, @WindBlows actually organized it so well, so I am going to paste what she shared with me to you. "The…
They wrapped up filming in December 2021 (all the actors had moved on to other projects after) and then I heard to get the broadcasting licensing which is post production is when they had to reduce the episodes. I am not too familiar with Chinese regulations and censorship rules so I may be misunderstanding.
I don't think it was that long, and haha my mom loves ROTTR but I couldn't get into it because one of my pet peeve tropes in story telling is when a writer enters their own story. Thats just my thing though, that drama was very popular.
I was thinking the same 🤨😑😑 and then I was sad I didn't get to see that in LLTG. It was also his expression that was just so shy, like he couldn't even look at her sometimes.
and I am also very nervous and curious about the MM buildup🫣

And yes I've seen Bai Lu dramas! She's can be funny in her acting too.
