You are so sweet! Thank you! And yes, a British accent is very advisable in this case, as the language is straight…
Yeah, quite a few people think that. But my name is actually the title of perhaps the greatest and most well-known Chinese novel, and also my favourite. Perhaps I should have left it mysterious, lol.
Thank you for coming to my defence -- I appreciate it.
The irony of the reply below is that they have responded to your last statement, but not the first. The logic according to all these people -- who can't bear disagreement -- is the same: we are allowed to come and rain on your parade, but you are not allowed to rain on ours. And if you don't abide by our toxic positivity, then we shall enforce it by means by means of toxic negativity.
I have already responded to this person at length beneath the review for Perfect 10 Liners, so I won't bother anymore.
I always look forward to reading your reviews! I read this while eating lunch, as if I was watching a movie. I…
Awww... Thank you! I do think you should watch it though -- it's less than an hour long in total, just to see the shower scenes, and to see how bad it is.
The profile pic -- the gif of which, I'm proud to say, I made myself -- is not from a BL, but an anthology series called Kiss x Kiss x Kiss, where, in each segment, they attempt to tell an entire story through just a kiss. This is from perhaps my favourite segment, called "Atelier Kiss".
agism in 2025?? and insulting someones appearance? dont bother commenting
The ageism in these comments is astonishing to me. Makes me think the bulk of the audience here must be clueless teenagers. (Though of course, no offence to clued-in teenagers.)
Some of us *love* older men, and we are in full possession of our faculties when we do love them.
Honestly, I was lowkey thought they were going to match each others freak. But honestly Da on should treat Jaemin…
I mean, I'm greedy. I want Jaemin to fuck me, *and* act like my sugar daddy, *and* let me call him daddy in bed. Otherwise, it's like a decade-long foreplay, and for what?
No one's hating the genre. I love BLs. And anyone who's read any of my reviews/comments knows how much I passionately…
Again, you are creating strawmen just to disagree with me.
I have no issue with any of your last three paragraphs. I don't deny women the right to create gay male content -- I welcome it. The more, the better. (I love BLs. How many times do I have to say it?) No one should be barred from writing anything -- I don't believe in censorship. The best gay male character in literature was written by a gay woman -- Marguerite Yourcenar.
It upsets me that my review -- which is merely intended to make people laugh, and is entirely tongue-in-cheek -- should provoke such a fundamental misinterpretation and misunderstanding of it. I'll leave it at that.

Firstly, my entry said, "it might be argued..." It is not a statement of fact, nor a statement of my absolute agreement with it.
Nor did I imply, anywhere, that there was unanimous agreement among feminists or gay men about BL -- let alone ask you, personally, to agree with any of it. That's you projecting your own thoughts on to my comment and review.
And yes, I agree with you. A lot of gay men can be misogynistic. That does not invalidate the fact that a lot of straight women do fetishise gay men, nor that many of the BL tropes are incredibly homophobic.
You write: "Rather than taking action against this homophobic, misogynistic content, society demonizes the women who consume or create gay male content. We're easier targets for them." This is so historically ill-informed and, for someone who criticises oversimplification, such an egregious instance of it, that I won't pick it apart.
If you think that it is alright for straight women to do whatever they want in writing -- mainly for other women -- about gay men, without being held accountable, all because the society is misogynistic, then you are part of the problem.
I have no desire to engage with you any further, as I have found it a good rule of thumb not to enter into arguments with po-faced people who don't have a sense of humour, and who don't see that my reviews are entirely tongue-in-cheek.
I have already responded to your comment on Perfect 10 Liners. But it is clear to me that you have no sense of humour, and you certainly know nothing about the history of BLs -- or gay rights, for that matter.
And stop fucking telling me what is or isn't homophobic. I've been beaten up for being gay, and have lost friends to suicide because they were gay. I know what homophobia is.
"It might be argued, however, that it is the BL genre itself that's ultimately homophobic, even Thai BL"Itβs…
No one's hating the genre. I love BLs. And anyone who's read any of my reviews/comments knows how much I passionately argue against misogyny. (I'm assuming that by 'your minds', you include me.)
The question as to whether or not BL is homophobic is a long-debated one, and one where gay voices often go unheard. (I happen to be a gay man from one of the most repressive countries in the world, and have been beaten up for being gay, so I know what homophobia is.) It was in fact in a feminist magazine, Choisir, that the most vivid debate on whether or not BL/Yaoi is homophbic took place, for over 7 years, in Japan. Even today, it is only too easy to dismiss our concerns and our voices, just because it is predominantly written for and by straight women.
Anyone who knows the history of BL, going back to the 1960s, knows how homophobic it can be. And how homophobic, even now, it is. One only need look at the reluctance to use the word 'gay' in most BLs, as if it were the plague, and the offensive stereotypes of femme/trans characters in Thai BL. To point these out is not to hate the genre. It is to hold it to a higher standard, and to encourage it to be rid of these "toxic" tropes, as you call them.
Lastly, I make no assumptions as to your gender or sexuality. But your last sentence is genuinely offensive to me, as a gay man.
I hope you liked some of it since then . Personally I do like Perth and Santa. Force and Book are exactly the…
I love Perth, and it is for him that I started watching the show. (I've been done with Force and Book -- talk about beating a dead horse -- since Only Friends. They have all the chemistry of mould on damp cardboard now.) I've been meaning to get back to this: wondering if I should just skip to the Perth/Santa part. Is their plotline good?
Perfect 12 Steps -- π€£π€£π€£ -- perfect!!! I'd pay to see that!

However, did you see this? Is it any good? It looks dreadful, but the 6.2 rating makes me think it must be doing something right.
Thank you!
