Actually, KBL and Taiwanese BL only needed 10 commandments each. (The commandments for Taiwanese BL and KBL overlap, but only half the time. The first commandment, for instance, is not applicable at all to Taiwanese BLs.)
Thai BL, on the other hand, required its own dictionary (and even then, it's only half-complete):
😭😭I pray, hope and beg that he ends up with the co-worker guy, he's a good man Savannah (I hope🤞🤞)…
I wouldn’t worry. The co-worker’s flag is so green that he might as well be celebrating St Patrick’s Day in Ireland. He’ll end up with Da On. Mark my words.
I don’t think they did. Partly because this is KBL and we prefer our ukes virginal. Partly because if they had, Da On should have been happy, instead of having that starved-puppy expression on his face.
Plus, isn’t that what Jae Min calls crossing the boundary? Being more than friends?
I’m sorry, what? You give me expensive watches, pay my family off, ask me to stay for the night, lie on my lap, and still won’t fuck me? This is the definition of queer-baiting.
By that point, my boner’s already calling an uber.
Seriously… still with the wiping-of-the-food-crumb trope? Is there a chronic shortage of paper napkins in East Asia that we didn’t know about? Have people forgotten how to eat? Or is there a selective mutism peculiar to BL where one person can’t say to the other: “ummm… you have something on your lips”?
This is an out-and-out trope fest. But enjoyably so.
I would love it if the writers subverted our expectations, and showed that Su Hyeon was a misunderstood angel all along, and Jae Min was the true monster. Don’t think it will happen, though!
First of all any series that starts with a wet dream and a shower with those abs gets my full attention lol.Seriously…
People take BLs way too seriously. If you put your feet up, sit on the couch, get a bowl of popcorn, and suck on a home-made chardonnay-cicle -- not at all speaking from personal experience -- you'd have a riot watching this show!
seeing how everyone's confused, did our mc not end up with anyone in the manhwa? 😭😭😭 if he did, can someone…
I mean, I haven't read the manhwa, or whatever the source material is. But it is very obvious to me from the first episode that Da On and Seong Hyeon are end-game. The whole enemies-to-lovers thing, obvious conflicts, SH's maladroitness, are all obvious and age-old set-ups for him to be the underdog.
Meanwhile, Jae Min is already shown as a wimp (which means he likes Da On but will do fuck all about it), and Su Hyeon is evidently "toxic".
I'd love to be proven wrong, and for these tropes to be broken or subverted. But my instinct tells me that this is likely how things will shape up.
Quite easily. They looked at Japan and Thailand, and realised that there's a lot of money to be made. KBL first…
You'd be surprised! There was less than 50% support for gay marriage when Taiwan and Greece legalised it (and the Greek Orthodox Church is virulently homophobic -- ironic, given that Greece invented the genre 😂). There are now BLs coming out of Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam, and they are all very conservative. Evidently, people see that there is a global and domestic demand for BL and cater to it.
I think a lot of it also has to do with the fact that BLs are often webseries, and so, it really doesn't reach people through traditional TV or big streaming platforms. (With the notable exceptions of Japan and Thailand, of course.)

Gelboys gives me hope. But otherwise, Thai BLs now outdo IKEA and Target in their uniformity!

Seong Hyeon is channeling Rihanna:
“You can stand under my umburella…
You can stand under my umburella…
Ella… Ella… Eh… Eh…”

EDIT: Didn't mean the rules to be a bit of self-promotion. But thank you!
