I agree that he was really determined to find out the truth then it kind of just got pushed aside for the romance. Given that this drama was supposed to be 60 episodes then suddenly got cut down to 28 right before its release has me thinking it might be a post-production problem and not a problem with the writing, the acting, or the cast. But I agree about the importance of focusing on key points given that the drama is so short.

exactly! the drama spent so much time on them even when their romance line doesn't contribute anything whatsoever to the actual plot. it would have done them better to have spent that time on li xuan and you lian (i.e. by having li xuan find out about his identity and regain his memory earlier).

a fan wrote an "alternate" ending for trotar that had a longer stretch of them in the real world and wasn't as rushed that i really liked

didn't watch the first season so don't know how this one will go but excited for my babies zhai zi lu (his first lead role!!) and wu jia yi.

agree with you about both of their masters being annoying smh. i like romance as well and agreed that there was too much focus on it but i think the drama wasted too much time on the romance of the secondary couple that it could have used to develop the plot further.

that's the thing-- the drama really has us questioning who's actually the "good" guys here. i don't think the demon leader (the dragon emperor/king) killed without remorse, rather he was attacking the humans for not respecting the peace treaty between the two clans [edit: i haven't watched the latest episodes yet and thought you were talking about the opening scene.]

hopefully, the drama resolves well. it's been good but i would definitely say that there were too many scenes wasted on the second romance couple and the plot could've advanced faster. i thought that since the episodes count was reduced from 60 to 28, the plot would move quicker.

but wu jiayi has gotten a lot of recognition beforehand for her role as qu manting in arsenal military academy and she has been getting several lead roles this year. i personally don't think xu kai was forced to take any role. li xuan's character really suits xu kai and he's doing a great job!

yeah he gave it away to tian shu grandpa so that he and youlian could find out how to escape. we don't know yet if he will get it back (hopefully he does tho)!

i feel like his only lines are: "why haven't you gotten the token yet? why didn't you kill li xuan? what about the kunwu people?" like yes, that matters but why put so much pressure on poor you lian. and he literally doesn't offer any help at all

definitely check out wu jia yi and xu kai in their new drama, dance of the sky empire then :)

i agree! i honestly did not like her character at first and i was confused as to why no one seemed to know that she's a girl, but her backstory is so tear-jerking and the actress did a great job!
