Great review the drama sounds lovely and heartwarming; can I ask how mutual the romance is? Is it something like Wanna be and Fated hearts where they're both as supportive and in love (love the moment in your gif btw) or more a couple where the ML is more devoted ?

Literally me everytime another drama tries to do the smart FL trope I'm just like... Ming Lan did it soooo much better.

-Yan Ruo likes Ming lan because they've spent time in the same classroom together for years and he can see that she's a smart, kind and beautiful girl, there's not that much to it.
-They will explain later why ML's older brother hates him but essentially they're from 2 different mothers and he thinks ML's mother caused his mother's death.
-ML and FL's brother do look a little bit alike but you will be to tell them apart soon enough.

So this is not for me after all, I don't like relationships where it's one person doing all the heavy lifting and I've seen plenty of younger MLs who go all out and prove their love for the FLs it's just a matter of writing so I think if they wanted to show her love they would have, too bad everything else about this seemed like something I would enjoy, thanks for the answer.

Great review I paused this when it was airing and wanted to get back to it and I have a question, when you say unconditional love do you mean from both leads or just the ML? As in do they both show up for each other with the same support or just him because I see a lot of people emphasizing all the things the ML does for the FL but not the other way around at all.

Your comment convinced me to watch this just one question I read a few other comments calling the FL annoying a "dead weight" on the MLs shoulders, she breaks up with him twice bc of misunderstandings when he's trying to save her father or get the bad guys. Is that true? I love what you said about them fully supporting eo and having a passionate love I'm not really into romances where one person is more in love and sacrifices more...

This one dropped way too fast . It kind of seems very low budget, how's the romance in general by cdrama standards? Mutual love and devotion or just mostly one sided?

Yeah that's the vibe I was getting from the trailer and this being a cdrama of course ML isn't allowed to love someone else ever it's a miracle they even allowed him to date someone else and not pine for 10 years (at least outwardly) the synopsis does say they were separated by a misunderstanding and that she returns to rekindle their romance so it doesn't look she moved on either although idk how accurate it is for the novel vs the drama and what they changed. Edit: I just read some reviews for the novel and this is very angsty and messy.

I know it's mutual but what I meant is if it's equal as in does she love him as much as he loves her you said he's "totally over the moon for her and ready to do anything for her" is she also totally over the moon for him and ready to do anything for him?

Yup that's how it almost always is, although in this one he's about to marry someone else from the trailer although I'm sure they'll tell us he doesn't actually love her which is fine as long as they show us FL hasn't moved on either.

I mean are they crazy in love now? He sure is but she's definitely not I can't even say she's "in love" without the crazy.

Thank you for your comment otherwise I would've wasted my time on this. I am really not a fan of the "one person doing everything for the other" and it's 9/10 the guy so many dramas do and it's hard to tell by the reviews because all they talk about is "they're sweet he loves her so much he will do anything for her" like her part in the relationship doesn't matter but maybe it's also because it's basically nonexistent in the drama.

This is exactly my issue with this setup, there's a lot of other problems too but this is the biggest one. The way his feelings developed (and I'm being generous here since they were pretty much there instantly) is so incompatible with the situation? It should've been a slowburn on both sides romantically. Also it's such a weird choice to have a man who lost his entire family in a romance with someone who is giving him nothing but heartache, shouldn't this be a story of him finding someone to be that family for him to care and protect him instead we get whatever.... this is.

Much appreciated also have you see Follow your heart? I was thinking of checking it out but I saw multiple comments saying the FL is very selfish and does whatever she wants and expects ML to save her.

How's this one as well romance wise? mutually devoted or nah? There's not much comments and the synopsis is very focused on the ML overcoming obstacles to be with the FL, is that the case for her too?

I wish I'd read this before I wasted my time on this. I had the exact same reaction as you at first it was sweet then by the umpteenth misunderstanding and their childhood friend added as the 3rd wheel I was so done. Like you said she's the one who kept saying she liked him and yet he was the one doing soooo much for her, he was literally working at 3 labs so she could stay at theirs and so many other things. It was so obvious they were dragging things so they wouldn't get together and I just skipped to the end but it seemed like it stayed the same way, yeah she was somewhat supportive but it didn't seem even close to what he was doing/did for her so I just noped out.

But her rlsp with him isn't romantic, she's playing him and his feelings are also a result of that so I'm confused...
