That's a whole different pov. U always think and bring another pov to the table aren't u? I like it that we both think diff. Like in ur previous post u said about Wan slowly taking everything that's nine. I would have never thought of that. Not saying it's completely wrong but somewhere writer chose this path to give everything to Wan that Nine didn't had.

Now upto Renji. U are asking motivation. Which is a valid point. Now that u put forward this ques i also don't know. So u clearly put forward something that story doesn't tell. I give u that. But i always considered Renji close to someone from entertainment industry. He observe, he watch but he never take action. Because he wants thrill, he wants fun. He wants to stay away from controversies but loves mischief. He isn't sociopath in my eyes but more like if someone is in danger i will not save that person if someone else is saving. He don't want to hurt Wan but isn't there for him as a friend. He is more like a bystander. Just like real entertainment industry. They never react openly. Who knows what agenda he has. Maybe later they will say. His brother North is also aware of this still didn't do anything. As a brother given North's behaviour i don't think it will be this easily to let go from his side unless he knows what his brother is upto. He even asked what u want. We need to see if he actually is badly written or there is actually hidden agenda. Also he is sweet to Time so it's completely opposite behaviour. I think it's like bargain. He wants to achieve something for sure.

Nine never understood Third. Third in his school time actually had crush on him.but the way Nine always had superiority complex kinda ruin it. He still sees him as friend. Then during scholarship exam he didn't signed up for but Nine acted on his own and made Third disqualified. When Third deleted video first time he was hurt. His crush over him broke and feelings of him even he as friend was a completely jeopardized. He felt he didn't knew this person. Still he understood Nine's position and his insecurity and he deleted the video for the sake of friendship. Nine never repented.


Through out his screen time with Nine he was always seeing and understanding that he never got changed. Until he started hurting Wan. He felt the need to correct him as a lover to Wan and as a friend for old times sake to Nine. He didn't had animosity with Nine , he just assumed Nine to be a good person or eventually change into one with time which never happened.

This time Nine opened his heart. He is completely wrong. But he was honest. He threatens Third to post the video. He knew he will never. Third still somewhere cares for Nine for old times sake. He also think what if Nine actually change? He has already reported this to North who treated Nine badly and plus copy should be there with Renji for which he only gave him that video. He wanted to believe Nine that he will not hurt Wan. He wanted to believe Nine that he will change. And who knows he will? Or atleast lay low? For which he is scared of North. For the last time for old times sake with the promise of not hurting Wan ever he took gamble over Nine.

Nine just know how to take advantage of people's emotions. He knows Third is a person who cares for him. He will not want to hurt him. And he utilised this.

Third was guilty that he deleted video and that's why he went to Wan's house. He knew that this will put Wan into risk. All he wanted was a huge that he will be there for him .the warmth that it's ok. When Wan asked " did he hurt u?". Third just looked at Wan. No. He didn't hurt Third physically. But emotionally he hurted him. He realised that Nine still has power over Third's heart somewhere as friend from old time that can hurt Wan. He realised that Wan didn't asked anything about him or video itself. He just asked is he hurt? Something no one asked. Because to third it's always people whom he cared about hurted him but never asked. His mom, Nine. Wan's ques broke him that he has done something that can hurt Wan in big way. That's where he completely broke down.

Ep7 was all about feelings. That yes I banter. Yes u pretend u don't care about certain things but u care. This drama is not only about fluff but it exposes deep emotions within entertainment industry...

Why u think renji's character is poorly written? Genuinely asking.

30 min in , I know Nine is all about himself. I always had this doubt that relationship between Nine and North is fake and Nine used that to climb up in his career. The scene where Nine and North fought tells me that Nine might have gotten benefits from him but their relationship is also toxic. It made me think what if it's more of Nine is forced to continue his relationship? I maybe because assuming here on this not sure.

Also, that scene was powerful. We got to know that Nine also have fears and trauma. Not saying that gives him right to do bad to other people for the sake of his benefit. But that scene gave his pov that why he hates Wan and fearful of him. He thinks that he worked so hard to get into main role and get his ship moving, getting famous. Even to the point that he is in relationship just for benefits sake. And Wan simply came out of nowhere and being a supporting role he gather lot of attention. Even his acting is improving..he is like snatching everything from Nine that he worked so hard for. It's still wrong to do what he is doing...and not justifying that but I think he remember from the time when he was playing supporting role and he recieved bad treatment from his co stars and not enough attention from fans to reach stardum. He thought that's how the industry work. And then Wan came and he broke all his illusions which he didn't liked. That's why I think he was also imposing the same behaviour that he got once. Also, when North said " without me u are nothing. There are lot of people with faces like u". He feared. He thought I am already loosing lot of things and now i will loose my career also and will become a dust in the entertainment industry. That's where he got his emotional breakdown.

From here things will go worse. I fear this Convo will make him do even bad things than he already did.

Hmm. See i don't want to assume things. But from premise i don't think this type of story should require 20 ep. Maybe I have watched too many dramas for that. Sometimes u wonder what new they can show.Unless story has lot of things going on...

I haven't read novel but adaptation is tricky. I always read novel if story interest me or if there is more to it. For me atleast the source material should be good enough to adapt into series. Then yes u make changes to bring in the form of live action. But that always bring controversies. Some lines in novel depict a level of emotions that if acting and direction is not good it can feel flat. That's always there.

Yes I do agree that 2 ep in is not s real rating. But it's a very strong first impression..these days i often ask with so many series with this high ratings are they really that good. That's why this ques comes. Otherwise lot of series are all hype l, chemistry,feel good and less on story.

Well most of the dramas are not worthy of their MDL ratings. I haven't watched this so I can't say. I feel with 20ep and 47 min each it's a proper drama. So story should give me something and characters and plot will be well developed afterall they have 20eps.

I had the same reaction when Wan's sister saw third and wan hugging. That bg music was so apt. I was also whole time squealing. It's so cute.

This drama just gets addictive from ep3. It's like ep1 and 2 tells the cases happening and ep3 gives the idea that why it's happening. I am holding myself from playing next button.

Also LYX costume designer deserves a raise. It looks embroided with golden and silver threads and not print. Not that it's first time but here costumes are clearly making LYX shine. This is the first time I am noticing costumes in so detail for a drama.

Exactly this. I said this earlier as well. Her curly hair looks diff than other characters in kdrama and it's intended in my pov to give the sense that she is diff. She is a girl struck by lightning and that differentiates her from others. I also think that in all her stories that she is writing for drama she is the character with straight hair when in reality she is having curly hair. It gives a good contrast. She writes something that works and is diff from real world in her stories but in real world she experience diff. It's a contrast for me shown beautifully by diff hairstyle.

Ep3, i think ji eun ho knows about na bo bae secret.

Ep3, what I loved about Li Si is that Dead bone spice is actually valuable in the market. But Li Si said it's an invaluable spice. To him, that spice means nothing. If they have to kill women and children then to him that spice means nothing. To him people's life is priceless to be able to worth it with a spice.

I liked how they also added comic element to the story. It brings relief to the all time investigating cases.

But i have one doubt if dead bone spice is already available in market then why to kill those many people? Is it because they want in huge amount? Because it looked like something rare and people don't use it generally so why they need it in this amount? Maybe i will get ans in later episodes.

I just know that story of yanxi palace is set in Qing dynasty and it hurts me to say that was the reality that time. Most of the things are true for that time including wives and concubines. If u have watched My Dearest s1 and s2( kdrama) that also talks about how bad situation was for women when it comes to Qing dynasty. Both my dearest and story of yanxi palace is in my bucketlist from a very long time...if u like historical essence of kdrama u can watch my dearest. It's about what happened close to the reality when Korea who was earlier giving patronisation to Ming rulers they were forced to patronise Qing rulers and women were sold or captured or given or sent to Qing rulers.( As per google).

I never knew xu kai was there in that drama. That's more of the reason I am now more excited to watch that drama. Xu kai was good earlier ngl but here it's like i am able to feel and see him as yan rui. He made the character his. Maybe I never noticed him earlier. Maybe this drama is the drama that made me admire him as an actor? Even versatility wise i see him coming long way.

So this drama did really well. For a republican era drama this is a good sign. Unlike internationally. Stories like this just don't get much appreciated.

Hmm. I am more talking about revenge. They are better planned. I have to drop Mo li as it's too slow paced for me. SOTB is not S+ drama but still it has diff things to offer. I am more comfortable here with pacing. I didn't felt satisfied with romance there but i am liking here. They both have diff things to offer. Just that I can't binge watch SOTB like Road To Splendor. Idk something about that drama i was able to watch 4eps in a day. Here i am barely able to complete 2eps. Simply because the theme is diff and for me if i watch SOTB i need to cut it down with mentally relaxing drama.

Note- with xie shu arrival i am liking this drama. As clearly now I have someone to hate to the core. I can clearly now root for Qingyuan to take revenge from him. I am with her. I am interested in how she will do that.

It does get better. But it's upto u to decide what u are actually looking for here. This story is not masterpiece revenge stories like Lengend Of Zhang Hai or Moli. It has its flaws. Story is more into xie family as far as I saw and ig it will be like this so if you are not into that then you can take a call.

Ep10, i found white peacock in the cage very symbolic. I think xie shu has some weird habit to capture and cage beautiful, pure and innocent things. Fourth madam( qingyuan mother) was beautiful and she used to perform in opera like a butterfly like he only said but he married her and harmed her. Just like that peacock Qingyuan's mother was also kind and innocent.

Connecting dots is not an issue. I ain't know it all person so i can ask here. Certain things that I didn't understood haven't people replied why it made sense to them?

I nowhere said I like dramas with historical accuracy only. I only look for good story. Period.

If i start differentiating idol and non idol i will be missing out good stories from both the sides.

And i said the same in my main post. This drama took certain liberties to move the story and that's fine. Blossom was not true to historical accuracy but it was still good.Even The Double was also not accurate but i enjoyed it. No matter how much logic u apply certain things are not accurate to that time and I said the same in my main post. U are also saying the same thing. No where I said it's something bad.
