Don't compare this with DH. In DH both specially lufeng can't live without each other. They suffered because they can't let go of each other. They were forced to be separated when each time they just wanted happy ending for themselves.

Here, Xiao fan is better of lu qing. Trust me. He is. I love stories where love confessions are not necessary. Then their actions speaks. Here it's actually a doormat behaviour. Lu qing never explained why he is doing and what he is doing to xiao fan. Sometimes he treats him with sincerity and love when wind is blowing soft and he immediately hurt him when wind is about to turn harsh. Lot of time i don't understand why lu qing spoke to xiao fan so badly like " my friend set up kitchen for me like this" when saying would have helped xiao fan in understanding his feelings of missing him. He either never understood xiao fan's words or chose to ignore when xiao fan was talking about movie they were watching together. I will go with first one as he took zero steps to make xiao fan feel secure. A simple "wo ai ni" would be suffice. But no. Then fiancee thing. How much a person can take?

In DH there was always a confession, never ever they doubt or felt insecure they knew why things are happening so they can give closure internally that this is for best even in separation. E en if yichen never explained but lufeng knew. Here, xiao fan is always left in conclusion.

I agree lufeng was a big black flag and lu qing didn't even come close to it. But please lu qing is a walking red flag. He made xiao fan like person to use revenge. After revenge it's no returning back. It's done. It's like saying we are equal now.

Well for ep1, the opening scene itself is too strong. One is having funeral of ninth young lady of fu which is our FL. And another is wedding. What is surprisingly is that ninth young lady died with a status of zuo daughter in law? Did i heard and saw correctly? Was this to earn another chasisty arch?

They first used salt to mimic snow then without verifying envoy of imperial salt took zhao ling as the son of that family. Seriously? And to add more they just buttered him just so as they can use him as potential marriage partner for Tingyun.

Maybe ep1 should be renamed as importance of marriage in girls life. Because this ep only deals with that. Not complaining but it did not shy away to show the harsh realities of the women of that time faced. One thing this drama did perfectly is that world building, i actually was mesmerized by flower goddess festival dance it was so beautiful. And the way they showed Tingyun I can see and understand why everyone praises her beauty. Because she do look beautiful. I can already imagine her as a beautiful fairy in my head.


So when u have story this serious, zhao ling is there to make things funny. I like it.

Ep1, I am totally in love with this madam yu acting. She is too good. The way she walks, moves, the hand gestures u know she is the women from noble family. She has grace in the way she speaks yet her movements are restraint. Not sure who this actress is but she slayed for me.

Ding yuxi well i will not say much as I was already impressed by him so many times. This drama is another. But i have to appreciate he absolutely used the postures and the way he act u know he is hooligan.

I have watched only ep1, but to add here. She also got widowed early. To imagine a girl spending all her life in isolation with no happiness i think i can understand her hatred. She hate the system but system is invisible what's visible is the people who imposed these norms upon her. Also she was looking into erotic novels. Meaning she still desire to remarry and fulfill those wishes. She also thinks Tingyun is a very good and beautiful lady. That's also the reason she wants her to marry in zuo family. One to further elevate zuo family status.

Idk if i should feel pity for her. But to always stay in one room to copy scriptures is so suffocating. In this drama for the first time this scripture copy thing felt heavy. It's as if its being told to remember and understand and apply the words u are copying every day word by word by ink like engrave those words into ur heart and soul when ur heart and soul discards those words. It pains u.

Was ming dynasty that suffocating? I wonder only if she could have a life outside the closed four walls( even madam yu said widow running wild so she don't expect widows to come out from her room) the hatred could have helped.

Ep1, someone will always come into ur life.

Idk how to say but this kind of storytelling is very unique, diff and fresh to me. How to say, nothing grand is happening. Just a normal day in life. But changes are happening. Like qing lang doing nothing new but only depending on his new assistant chang yang. But things like sipping wine from the same glass, changing clothes, feeding him food, massaging him with tea oil. See nothing diff just part of daily life of an actor depending on his assistant. But things are diff as they are getting closer like how chang yang understood that qin lang has fear of falling in love( i hope the cover why this is the case), they roasted tea leaves together, exchanging wine in unique way( not sure if it's cultural) under camp fire, talking in camp fire, how chang yang never moved evenan inch when qin lang was holding onto him while sleeping. Maybe story is telling love sometimes enters ur life just like any Monday morning. It doesn't have to be dramatic.

Then my fav part is this Convo:-
Qin lang:- " didn't i told u that I want tea"
Chang yang:-" but sometimes first choice is not what u really want. Maybe coffe suits u better"
As a follow up scene after qing lang and his ex( forgot name) over his phone.
Like he is saying, sometimes in love it's not what u want or what choices u make, but it's about what u need and what suits u better.

Even the humour in this ep is very subtle, qing lang staring at phone while eating so that he can snatch it away. Qing lang is older than chang yang but he is still childish in a good way. I like it.

Both qing lang and chang yang bring are very diff. Qing lang is childish, curious, modern and a life full of fame, things looks glamourous but not felt happy. While chang yang is mature, simple, calm, have stillness in life but yet so happy. Maybe that's what makes their connection so soothing.

Now the ques are they referring to "Molie" as in "Mo li" meaning Jasmine in Chinese? Because they keep mentioning Molie tea, Molie liquor. Plus isn't the place they are staying at is also called as "Molie" so is it Jasmine?

This comment made me pause. I am waiting like crazy to watch this drama. Just not watching because I am too occupied with other dramas in my plate. Because i don't think this is a light hearted drama or a story which lacks depth for me.

For me, when I started first ep just to decide whether to watch or not. I got instantly pulled by the depth of the story.

Maybe secrets happened in the litchi island worked because they needed to show the falling in love phase too properly as to ans the ques the leads were asking is this just a summer fleeting feelings or a real love which I want to take it forward?

Here, the story is not about people falling in love but about how they overcome their own set boundaries, illusions and worldly attachments. How to stay in love and share a same world when both are two different people who come from diff world with diff beliefs and both have something to improve and grow as a person. How love tackles and survive this exam? I think when I look from this lens my ques gets ans. That this is not a love story between two people but it's a love story of two people i e. Falling in love, growing as a person, healing each other and be with each other. This story for me atleast from what I have seen in parts emphasise even to tell their other half in how they can also improve. ( Add other cp as well).

But ur comment made me rethink. If this story actually can be understood while keeping my brain shut then I am going to take a sprint to start this.

But the problem is wait....

Chinese people know how to write well planned revenge. I have lost count. Last i was this obsessed with a revenge story was when I was watching LOZH. He was also like this. Brutal. Cunning. Yet soft by heart. Human. A person shaped by trauma. Where body language is the key to notice the changes.

I take back all my sympathy I ever give to xiao fan and replace it by astonishment. I loved xiao fan in ep10 ending. Maybe I will love him more in ep11. Lol. Fingers crossed. Manifesting xiao fan's rebellious era. Sadhu.

My heart aches for yeo ri. What a sad life. Living in loneliness, alone because of this ghost seeing thing. Can't sleep. Always on mission to fulfill the wishes of one who already left the world from body but yet soul remains longing for that last wish to get completed.

It's scary if one think deeply that she always have to see death of diff people in diff manner. It's traumatising. It's tiring. Although it gives her the life purpose to free the souls and sometimes even make friends or be empathic to the dead souls. But often this body discovery and wish fulfilment comes with danger. Here it's handled little bit comically because rom com.
But it's not comedic. It's terror.

First case was unique and always be close to me as to how deeply it conveyed the msg that even sometimes when justice holder( police) gets succumbed to death due to crimes( murder of them while on duty ) then there is even bigger power like supernatural powers has to come in order to serve justice here the sense of being seen as in discovering that police officer is dead and how.

I would have given benefit of doubt if they show time skip and they let bei lu qing stone for his mistakes. But seeing the preview of ep11. Nope. No way.

I wonder if lu qing is just obsessed with keeping xiao fan as his partner and forget about him as a person? Because how can he never even tried to respect and understand him? How can he never understood what xiao fan wants deeply most in his life?

Xiao fan wants self respect and undivided, unconditional love. Whatever he did till now has only made xiao fan see that how he is not worthy of his love and how he is inferior compromising his self esteem. Instead of improving lu qing did that? No. Unless he repent a lot with good amount of time gap, separation, personality development and lots of healing, ability to open mouth. Until then happy ending will not be happy. It will be just like this title " bittersweet".
