I just don't understand what Zhou wan wants? She has little bit of infatuation towards lu xi xiao but then whatever she is doing it is making her like sister to ML. Why can't either she just stay either stay like lover or completely like his sister? Her completely on and off behaviour of showing care and attachment when she is just about to hurt him is worsening the situation. They are coming close during that period and after that boom the coldness she shows to ML without any explanation for whatever reason is such a red flag thing to do. Here since start atleast lu xi xiao is clear that he can never see her as his "mei mei".

This drama gives me strong vibe of "Speed and Love". Where both Jiang mu and Jin zhao went back and forth. Saying to everyone in that table that they are real siblings and at the same time holding hands romantically.

Why can't they just decide whether they want brother sister or lovers. Because on and off situation like this makes it hard for me to understand the FL feelings and tbh it's actually seems very problematic to me. I am liking this drama because something in the plot mystery of what exactly happened and how it will go and actors but this is again going to be hard watch for me.

Will give few more ep and if not then will drop it. Because i can't really with incest.

Maybe because they are still healing. Maybe they are not now rushing. Specially lufeng he is trying to find content in his heart and happiness. He has the grief of the time they had lost, missing old times and just grieving on that and so much just happened in life. Story ends before the characters get healed completely so it makes sense to not have a marriage as happy ending. Because for me imo the drama gave a bittersweet ending where lufeng finally has his love of life beside him, no chasing, his soul can rest now, he has peace but his smile is restraint not like ep1-2 sunshine smile boy.
For yichen also although he finally chose for once his love but he also got broken after breaking his partner. He is trying to heal both lufeng and their relationship. He is also making good memories. These are imp before they take the decision to move to next level of their relationship aka marriage.
Not always, both ml coming together means happy ending.

Actually for me MDL ratings does mean something. Before watching any drama I first watch MDL reviews and comment section. So that I know what i should be expecting from this drama.
Like some niche dramas Bad buddy, Tharntype, Secret crush on you they have higher ratings. But those ratings doesn't even make sense. ( To me)Revenged love atleast was marketed like a toxic bl. But Secret crush on you? That drama was complete creep and stalker vibe but marketed as sweet romance.
Atleast Double Helix comes with strong warnings of serious issues so people who are not ready to watch those themes can move past. That being said MDL ratings also affect artists. If ratings are low, people consider the quality of drama to be low impacting success directly and their future prospects. That's why rating should be balanced. Say what is good along with things u don't like. Afterall there are all variety of audience. Only rating low in these kind of show will be like catering to only one mindset....

Meet you at the blossom when it aired i didn't liked it because of toxicity but having watched double helix....i am pretty much sure no one can top lufeng. It's kind of signal to watch that. Also i must tell u this i am huge cdrama lover. So china idk how but always impress me with their layered and complex storylines that I have never even imagined. Are we forgetting the untamed? Xue yang and meng yao? Both are villains but for both we have little bit of soft corner. Are we forgetting Fan xiao? You shulang literally did nothing but fan xiao destroyed everything good in his life just to prove a silly point. Are we forgetting Revenged love? Chi chen literally was known for sharing his partner with his friend and the way he just throw people to be gang raped and the way he was violent with wang shuo. Just because his relationship with wu so wei was not that level of toxic doesn't mean chi cheng was a good person. But everyone love that show for god knows why. ( Because i genuinely can't understand, not hatred to who like but my opinion i can't like that drama) No one ever point out that oh chi cheng was toxic so we should not romanticise. Because that drama never really even addressed this and chi cheng never even faced consequences for that. So i see nothing but double standards here.

Rape is a very serious topic but atleast in this drama rape was always shown wrong. Even if yichen went back to lufeng. That's yichen's problem that he went back. Show never defended lufeng of his actions.

Tbh lufeng is the blackest flag I have ever seen. But something about this drama that I felt emotional turmoil all over place. I think the beauty of this drama is that none of the characters either lufeng or yichen is good or bad. Lufeng is actually a very layered characters. I just know that rape is the reason of low ratings. Which i get it. They can't look past this and understand his other sides of pain, anger, love apart from that label. Also the notion of lufeng is the perpetrator only and yichen is victim only. And the fact that they got bittersweet ending is what making the rating low.

Remove rape and see story improves a little bit.
But ig author was too young when she wrote the script. The fact that she included soo many things and still they got back together in novel is truly scary. In drama directors toned it down a lotttt. And they didn't include lot of things like son involvement and 20 year thing. And i need to tell u if they adapted even 5percent of novel lufeng....he is just straight up criminal. The fact that directors put the twist of bipolar disorder and his treatment is of the good thing that they did. But still it can't save a plot which is beyond repair.

My only concern here is that the happy ending is not happy ending. It would be much better if they let go of each other earlier. Having love of ur life is good but whats the point when that love gives u nothing but pain. Or the amount of pain they bore is more than happiness. Both lufeng and yichen didn't looked happy at the end to me and no writer, director can save a plot like this.

Actually imo in series also they didn't got their happy ending. Lufeng became a person who lost his spark. He has now love of his life beside him but his eyes were so sad. It's like he is happy but he is grieving the time he lost. The school days lufeng can never come back. It's gone. It scarred him for life. About anger issues yes realistically he can't make his partner happy but anger issues can be treated. My concern was more on bipolar disorder, constant on and off situation of yichen badly affected his mental health. And both yichen and lufeng has to live with it. There is no cure. On the other hand, yichen also didn't got the carefree lufeng back because of whatever reasons but he never chose lufeng. He avoided and run away. And yichen has also the problem idk how can I trust a person who run away the second something happens.

Lufeng miss the old times and want to go back and understand what happiness looks like because he don't know what is happiness now. He can now make new memories with yichen but then lufeng will always be in fear because of his disease. Yichen now has to deal with someone to whom he needs to reassure every time. Both of them needs to heal. In series, although they got together but the cost was heavy and damage was already done. So ik series also it's a very bittersweet ending. More of tragic ending for me because I don't think they can be happy now. Both are broken beyond repair.

I actually agree with what you said. This is the first drama that u hate both lufeng and yichen but u understand them as well. U don't want their happy ending but u want the happy ending because of how much the characters has suffered. U want to drop the drama but can't because story is bad but is very engaging surprisingly. It's very hard to have one opinion about the characters and drama itself.

U know that whatever happened in ep9 was not at all justified even with bipolar disorder. As a person who hate any trope with romanticising of rape and it's justification. I think even bipolar disorder can't make me understand that part.

Although I wish lufeng and yichen happy life. I hope this kind of love never finds me. This drama was pure torture and it was just wayyyy tooooo toxic for me. I don't think anyone can ever produce a toxic black flag like lufeng.

Slice of Life is not my cup of tea. But after netflix release. I am here at ep3. Ep1 made me cry because that's how much relatable it is..i was sobbing hard just like hongdou. Ep2 yes as a person who feels naturally relaxed and sense of healing i relate that with hongdou. She seems to be much smiling in village...that's how a person grieving for their loved ones and accepting the truth feels like. It's like a slow process. I am amazed that how much this is relatable to me. Feels like a part of my soul is also healing along with hongdou.

I truly don't want to drop this drama. But again slice of life has never worked out for me. So fingers crossed 🤞

He is a talented person. I mean it would have taken so much effort for him to ruin head2 head and making me feel nothing about SeaKeen when they are one of my fav cp.

After watching double helix this drama is kinda healing. The trauma I got from that drama is make up by this drama.

It's a comforting drama for me. But even I started it today. So it's early to say. I am not at the point of chemistry but so far acting is good. U can watch if u like little bit slow paced drama.

I just started this drama. Gives me the nostalgia. Just pure childhood vibes. It throws me back to the time of my summer holidays. When I was sixteen. All that ice cream excitement, going out with friends, just sitting at the shade in the sunlight enjoying watermelon and litchis just like ko enjoying oranges from his neighbourhood. The times when life was slow and just normal summers of cycling around, playing and roaming around with friends.

The way the drama shows Ko to be carefree yet coming of the age of seriousness. Pure sixteen year old teen vibes. When you are inexperienced in love and unsure what career path u want to take. But all u want that time is ur friends to be together. Not parting with sections.

The way they portrayed Ko as someone proud and yet kind and naughty yet so lovable and innocent is how I also see myself as a teen during flashbacks.

The way Ko is hesitant to include Ko 2 to become his friend. But looks like Ko2 is already attracted to Ko since the first time he saw. Ko2 looks like someone who wants to be close to Ko starting from friends but he knew at starting Ko is not ready to. And tbh Ko2 don't know how to approach a person. He was all proudy and little bit rude while talking to Ko for the first time but can I blame him? He is just a teenager like us in the past.

So far I am loving this drama. Now Ko and Ko2 rooms can be seen across. I think it's time for Ko to experience his first love..

And the colour grading is so good.

I truly want to understand the hatred towards yichen's brother. Like really. So whatever i am going to say is not disagreement but a pov from a viewer.

1. When yichen's brother hid message from yichen. That's wrong and the fact that yichen was so unhappy about that..he waited for lufeng without knowing that lufeng msged him to...that he will come back. I get it that this story was set up in 1990-2000 in novel so it makes sense kinda for his brother to hide. But why he never confessed this to yichen later??? Is the only thing I hate about him. It's like he did something and he forgot. For the sake of "protecting".

2. When yichen's brother came into relationship with qin lang. His feelings were sorted. But idk about his earlier phase. The story never addressed the point that yichen's brother was aware of the fact that he is gay from the start. Or did he knew after falling for qin lang or its just a straight guy turned into gay because his love is a man trope? I am confused on that part.
If he was aware that he is gay from the start then whatever he did to yichen was soo wrong. But if not then in later stage after coming in relationship with qin lang I don't see him homophobic or a person who was against his brother being gay.

3. I don't blame him spending time with qin lang in new year. Because he also deserve happiness. Ig he supported his brother to go and meet lufeng during new year. So i don't see him a person who didn't considered his brother's feeling that time.

4. There was a phase when both couple were having best time of their life after them both having relationship. So it was not that yichen's brother hate lufeng.

5. After office rape when lufeng came to his house..who would not be angry if your brother was being raped? Would you ever want that person to meet your brother? No right? And yichen himself didn't wanted to meet him. Which was valid. Lufeng's bipolar disorder was not known to others and even if it was known rape is a heinous crime. So his brother did right in my opinion.

6. During confrontation with mother. He kept telling lufeng to go because he was concerned that the way things are going is not good and his mother needs to be calm down to be able to understand. So from a family pov he did correct.

7. When his relationship with qin lang surfaced I'm front of his mother. He never denied. So he is correct.

8. When yichen was saying to break up. And when lufeng was on the way to talk about the same that why he is the only one who is getting break up. Why not them and let's go and talk. That time he was wrong very wrong. The fact that he put the blame to lufeng for his mother's condition entirely was wrong. Plus him not understanding his brother's pain was also wrong. Him not able to understand that lufeng and yichen is also the same like them is wrong. Him provoking lufeng when qin lang told to keep his call and talk about this later was wrong. I get that yichen's brother family was in hospital so he was highly emotional that time and didn't understood the consequences but he was wrong.

9. When yichen's brother came back. He did asked yichen about his relationship with lufeng it was good. But then he said that he should not go to lufeng that was wrong. Because he still blame his mother's situation entirely on lufeng which is wrong. But his point was valid that lufeng confrontation did caused his mother's health to detoriate and his leg thing. For him this was a deal breaker for any kind of relationship. And he told yichen this because he thought after this much no one would ever go back to lufeng. But yes he didn't asked if yichen still loved lufeng. And the way they had to part ways.

10. Him taking away yichen from lufeng. Suppose u got to know that ur brother was being raped and tortured and prisoned to the point of death. Why would anyone as a family support this kind of person to be together with his brother? He was correct that time.

11. After yichen took decision that he want to be with lufeng firmly. Yichen's brother never stopped him instead supported his decisions.

So idk from where this hatred is coming. To me he is not good but he is not bad as well.

But i really want to understand why everyone hate him to the core.

Plus for me second cp don't even matter. This is the story of yichen and lufeng so when their screen time came i didn't paid any attention.

Also do u know any drama that is equally engaging and have character depth like this? Because mostly I have exhausted all the list. I am wanting to watch something but not able to since when double helix has started airing. Nothing feels as good as this.
