So, the first 30 min left me a bit unsure. It felt choppy and all over the place. They were trying to establish the relationship between Guo Jing and Huang Rong, but it came off as random, and I couldnโt feel any emotional connection because there was no build-up.
However, once the flashbacks ended, the movie really picked up. From that point on, I enjoyed almost everything. The scenes in the Mongol army camp were especially impressive, and the fight sequences were solid. I just wish the action felt more kung fu-ish and less Avatar-ish (if you know what I mean ๐).
Also, the color grading was a bit off, everything looked washed out. I wouldโve preferred richer, bolder tones.
That said, I loved the acting and absolutely loved the characters! And I loved the parts in which they spoke Mongol! So interesting.
Is there someone who can help introduce me to the universe this show is based off? Like where do I start from,…
I would start with BTS music videos from HYYH era. That's where the story began. Those are: I Need U (original version), Run, Young Forever and Prologue.
Bromance/friendship -> enemies -> reconciliation. I really enjoyed their friendship in the beginning.
Well, one of them betrays the other, and a whole lot of things happen between them and FL (past lives included), but in the end they decide to reconciliate and work together to save the world. I think that the conclusion of their relationship was nicely done.
Why would you force yourself to watch something you obviously hate? Just drop it. ๐
Fair point. I also donโt like dropping shows, but 50 episodes is a lot to get through if you're not enjoying it.
I tried reading the novel years ago but couldnโt finish it because it felt like reading poorly written fanfiction. I gave up after about a third of the novel, I think. However, that was before the official translation came out (it was a fan translation at the time), so I might give it another try one day.
Open, so basically it all depends on your interpretation. From what I've seen the opinions are split. I personally…
I'm too lazy to find the episode and check again, but I'm pretty sure the petal took his human form. I never said he came back alive, as a human, but he was definitely in his human form in the last scene. I personally don't really see it as a completely sad ending. If he has consciousness in any form, and if they're able to meet in any form, that's good for me. The book has a happy ending so I kinda merge those two mediums to feed my delusions.
That poster where they're in their doctor gowns looks amazing! If I saw that one before, I would've immediately added this to my PTW list. I may be shallow like that, but good/intriguing posters play a huge role in getting me interesting in something.
I wanna jump this man, I wanna pull his freakin hairI can't with this man "it's cause and effect" "it's all fate"…
I'm having so much fun reading comments here. People are completely divided, they either love him or despise him. It's funny how one character's action can be interpreted so differently by the viewers. ๐
i don't get the hate either. the CGI is not good yes but the story and chemistry is actually very beautiful!
Yeah, I also like the story and main leads. They're both good characters and I like their relationship. As for SWL and Angelababy, I think they're good. I've certainly seen worse. Ngl, FL's lips are somewhat distracting, but she's not a horrible actress (may not be among the best, but without a doubt can carry this role). SWL is hot AF as Xuan Lie. I'm obsessed with his hair/wig! ๐ This role really suits him.

The CGI is not even important in this drama tho. There were a few CGI animals in the beginning and that's that. Some other dramas rely heavily on CGI for their storytelling and it looks low budget and shitty, but people don't complain as much.
Opinions are divided. Actually 9.4 on Viki is pretty good and most reviews there positive.. in my opinion the…
Dunno. I don't use Viki anymore, but from what I remember all dramas there had a 9+ rating. ๐
MDL is far from objective, but usually decent dramas have 8+ rating, and I didn't notice any major "flaws" while watching. But yeah, we all have different taste I guess.
I have 7 episodes left, and that's enough time for them to mess it up, but so far, so good. I don't really understand why people didn't like it. ๐ค Should easily be rated around 8.4-8.5.
Wow, I haven't watched JTTW or IceF. He didn't have a big role in IF, but it features a lot of big names, so it…
Nah, haha. The last thing I watched from him was Inference Notes, so I took a little break before starting Ice Fantasy.
Oh, it's really tough for us. All the actors I liked before were more internationally popular, so finding subbed videos of them wasn't that hard. It wasn't until I started following him that I realized how difficult it is for international fans to stay informed, LOL.
MJTY is one of my favorite C-Dramas, and I loved Cheng Lei in it, but I really wish GJM had given it to WD. He would've been able to bring it to life. It's annoying how most of his roles are supporting characters, even though his acting is leaps and bounds ahead of some really popular actors. That's why I'm glad he was in The Blossoming Love. Even though he was the SML, he had so much room to showcase his acting. Before TBL, I watched him in TYYM and TLG, but it was only after TBL that I started digging deeper.

All in all, 8.5/10
After that, you can check this guide: https://www.usbtsarmy.com/bangtan-universe-guide
I think they provide links for all BU content that was published.

Edits of his previous roles are also good!
I already watched some of his eating videos on YT (even without subs). It's kinda fascinating.๐คฃ๐คฃ

I really want to watch those variety shows. ๐ญ
