Being a woman wasn't the real reason why he had to be executed, Switched at birth, she was really the heir to…
Yes, but her being a woman allowed her to get married as a woman to a man who IS a legitimate heir. They could've ruled together, she didn't even want to be a ruler at first. I just think it wasn't necessary, at least it didn't feel necessary. And her being a woman and deceiveing everyone should've caused a bigger issue, that also made no sense.
Thank you for the link, but I don't have TikTok app so I can't watch it. I'm glad to know there is a happy ending tho!
I'm still catching up, but ep. 8 y’all! That carriage scene was actually insane. ZH looked so servile, weak and broken, with all the blood and trembling, but somehow he still had full control of the whole conversation?! PJH really thought he had the upper hand, but ZH was playing him the entire time. Every word was careful, and the way he made him start doubting his most loyal underlings? Just delicious. That was such a beautiful example of psychological warfare and ZH walked out of it alive and winning.
Gonna be honest, I’ve always loved MLs who can fight, especially in historical settings, but having a character who’s this vulnerable, but also insanely smart and adaptive? It actually makes everything so much more interesting.
And also, I love how Xiao Zhan portrays ZH. The servility, the way he makes himself small around these people, but then those moments when his true nature slips through, the looks, the smirks, the micro-expressions. I’m honestly mesmerized by his performance.
I don’t see why you’d be so bothered by people comparing two dramas that objectively do have a *similar* plot.…
You actually can control your tone. Phrasing like "don't say" feel like you're trying to shut down someone else's opinion, rather than just sharing your own. That kind of tone can easily be misunderstood as dismissive or even aggressive.
Expressing the same sentiment by saying "I personally don’t see the similarity" or "In my opinion..." doesn't sound confrontational.
There. I'm done with this conversation now. Like you said, it leads nowhere.
No hard feelings tho. I didn't want to dismiss your feelings, just wanted to point out some things.

Don't know about you, but "don't say it similar to masterpiece NIF" sounds pretty confrontational to me. It sounds dismissive and controlling. And you continued with the statement that you feel triggered by comparisons. Again, confrontational.
But whatever, you can write whatever you want. Just don't be surprised by other people's reactions.

People are being defensive because your comment came across as confrontational. Your exact words were, "Don’t overpraise something just because it's up to your taste."
Naturally, people don’t appreciate being told what they should or shouldn’t say, it’s a free forum, after all. If you had simply shared that you don’t think it’s similar to Nirvana in Fire, no one would’ve reacted negatively, since that’s just your opinion. But instead, you sounded like you were trying to dictate what others should think or say.
I don't want to argue with you, just saying why people reacted so strongly.
If you like this drama, please do so.. don't say it similar to masterpiece NIF.. I watched and I can't connect…
I don’t see why you’d be so bothered by people comparing two dramas that objectively do have a *similar* plot. People are allowed to draw comparisons and praise what they enjoy.
I agree that Nirvana in Fire is a masterpiece, it’s one of my all-time favorite dramas too, but that doesn’t make it untouchable or off-limits for discussion in relation to other works.
If I had one thing to comment on, it would be that the death of the lead was not necessary. Why not reveal that…
Exactly my thoughts. It would’ve made sense if she had stayed on as emperor, but instead, she revealed her true identity as a woman just one year later. It felt so unsatisfying.
I'm sorry, but the ending just didn’t make sense. If she was going to reveal her true identity as a woman, she might as well have married the male lead. Uniting the two dynasties would’ve been a perfect conclusion. And the way everyone just accepts her as a woman without a single objection (well, one guy tried) at the end... lol. That said, for a short series, it was still enjoyable. The story was engaging up until the last two episodes, and it was visually stunning throughout. Even that final episode, which I thought was total nonsense story-wise, managed to be emotional and beautifully shot.
I loved this! The whole mountain and rangers vibe felt super refreshing (and it kind of gave off documentary feels at times). The mystery was done really well, I kept suspecting everyone. They totally misled us, but it all came together in the end. The happy ending was just the cherry on top.
It actually turned out better than I expected. Poor Jin U, he was pulled in every direction by everyone around him, sold and discarded like a thing. The adults really messed up his life. The CEO mother wasn’t always likeable, but I think her flaws were understandable, and in the end, she did come to recognize her own mistakes.
I do appreciate the happy ending after all the angst.
Yeah, probably. I stumbled upon it accidentally, while watching FMVs for other dramas. It was one day old and already had around 150k views. I'm glad I decided to watch it right away. 😆

I can't wait to see the rest of the episodes.

Still, I can’t give it more than an 8.
Nothing wrong with the casting director, but you obviously have an issue, lol.
Solid 9/10
I do appreciate the happy ending after all the angst.
