The presentation of the building curiosity after someone catches your attention, and then you start seeing and meeting them in random places. The accidental meetings made my heart flutter, maybe because the presentation is truly realistic - nothing exaggerated. When both of the characters start to be more and more aware of the fact they keep crossing paths, it's hard not to get curious where is will lead. I could not stop smiling even for a second. I loved everything about this episode. Probably my favorite piece of media (directing wise) I have seem this year. Perfection till the literally last scene.
"But now, even expressing like seems overwhelming"
that said, I did think Lee Jun was cuter hahaha
Also, as for the last scene in episode 4 I think his reaction was quite valid...
Should we keep going even if we see no success?
What is success?
Should we even strive for success, or is just doing what we love enough?
All that in the short under 30 minutes episode. Great acting from Han Ye Ri as a struggling artist Yeon Joo was a cherry on top.
Following her on the trip let me take a moment to just relax and enjoy the views and the scenery. The straightforward and honest personality of Park Ha Kyung adds to the charm. I also appreciate how real the characters are - normal people in normal circumstances, taking a break from the busy and overstimulated world.
I also kind of understand Park Jin Hwan and his take on one sided love and how he "likes it". It is a way of protecting himself, also a thing that people who struggle with losing control would do (me, I'm that person). If the feelings become mutual, you cannot just make your own choices, things things through alone etc., because your decisions will affect the other person. But if you have one sided crush, the other person is not affected by your feelings, so it's safer to some extend.
Anyway, I'm excited.
I love some one sided soft love angst. Overall, soft angst is one of my favorite thing in any romance ever - give me it with mutual pinning, when both sides are unaware of the other person's feelings and I will die happy.
Like the scene in the academy when Yoo Jae and Chae Ypung are chatting, and the two poor guys getting jealous and sad about their crushes. I love content like that...
I already like Han Joon, Yoo Jae is going to piss me off but in a good way. Jin Hwan needs to be protected.
then the fucking 1년 후 out of a blue 🤡
FUCK ME I CANNOT ALL THE CHARACTER AND PLOT PROGRESSION HAPPENED BEHIND THE SCENE DURING THAT ONE YEAR THEY DID NOT SHOW I AM DYING 🤣🤣 Literally all the conflicts, most of the psychological issues, legit everything except for the leads getting together. Damn 😅
That said, as much as I loved the characters and all the separate spirit stories, the overall arc an the background of it was underdeveloped.
They focused so much on the episodic stories, they forgot to create the more detailed picture of the whole context the show was happening in. The background of the powers, the background of the "black smoke lady", the development and journey of the separate characters - everything that needed a longer than 2-3 episodes format was not as well presented. So I ended up loving the show ass I watch the episode, but not feeling motivated to actually start the episodes when they drop.
The performances were great. I love Tseng Jing Hua ❤️
Also, this needs season 2. By the end of the episode 1, it legit felt like an opening chapter to a larger story.
