I know the novel is dark. I could understand why adapting it faithfully would have been impossible. Sadomasochistic S+ drama ugh, not in my wildest dreams. But the writers made the characters suffer, despite being strong characters in the beginning. Yes it leveraged my sense of pityness and I cried for them. However, the change was drastic. I would say, he fell in love with her before she dies, but he kept it a secret. I also don't know why he had to lose his brilliance and why She had to loose her martial art skills. It is nice to have character development, indeed, but I would have preferred them to stay true to themself and make the story evolve, instead of running after the story. However, I respect the writer's choices but they could have introduced what happen differently and thouroughly.
