Yes , this should be like retibution.
Logically in dramaland the Empress should have ended up killed, considering the blood she got on her ends for killing so many palace maids. Yet, she evolves in a good way, letting go of her obssession for ML.
It is sad, that she suffered a lot but she had to face pain and even death, because she killed so much people.

I don't know how she could have escaped an horrible fate... Maybe risking her life to save someone. That way : a life for a life, she could become redeemable in dramaland and "earn" a better ending.

I understand your point of view. In this drama, FL seems to be strong and coerced by the domineering ML but in reality she is not really decisive at all. She could have left ages ago if she wanted. She stayed to entertain the ML's possessiveness .
She got what she wanted. I could say that THEY got what they wanted, taking in account the drama ending.
Well written strong FL are scarce.
So far, one of the best strong FL for me is RuYi in "a journey to love". (long length drama)

She is very strong in her job as a spy and an operative , yet she can be dummy in romance but she tries to learn and evolve during the show. I liked her very much. She had this "human" like side.
(side note : great character develoment of the princess in this show. From weak spoiled daughter to strong ruler)

If you have almost 2h to spare, try this republican era vertical drama "督军小叔爱上我" ( easy to find with google with subs). It is not perfect but FL has a great character development and this is cute and funny with also some angst.
In this one FL starts as a little lovesickfool and a pushover but she evolves nicely into decisive FL who decides to chase her ML. ML is a green flag but FL is opinionated and not like in "blazing elegance" saying no but meaning yes. ( saying she doesn't want but staying to get what she supposedly doesn't want smh)

Yes, you are right, the trailers don't depict the entire season, only the begining.
To be fair, the 3 first episodes were very well done, visually and story wise. Very engaging to watch the show. After that, the story kind of switched from a graphic fantasy romantic thriller toward a spy romantic suspens. .. That I liked but that was different.

I did not read the novel, but read spoilers about it. I would like to read it someday. Good day.

If it is a sociopath it is kind of ok because the person cannot communicate but can still feel emotions, but spychopath it is another level : they are dangerous.

It si a supernatural romance + investigation. There is amnesia trope. ML becomes FL's slave and he becomes also clingy (ep 1). There is also cat-and-mouse game.
I like the interactions but the drama is very average to me plot wise.

I did not like the summary. I started watching it anyway for the main actress that I liked in other dramas.

I hope by mid season ML will discover the secret and start protecting FL.

True, she was aware of her mistakes. She was better.
I understand where you are coming from, but in those dramas one gets what he gives.
In my opinion, she would have escaped any harm if she was wounded to save FL or ML.
This is the law of those dramas. one has to pay with the same money.
I knew she would be raped and I though she would end up killed.
It is not about deserving being raped.

Luckily, characters are not real human being.

In my opinion, the misunderstanding will last long.
Because there is too much twist that can be created from that.

I agree she shouldn't have made close contact with the gun. It was a lethal move.
But FL is not trained in Martial Arts.

She spend half of her life in prison, so she learned how to suvive by fighting in jail.
She was not a match for the killer.

Therefore, yes she should have kept her distances.

The Empress got the exact retribution of what she did :

She killed/tortured several palace maids because she was jealous of them being allowed to approach/touch ML Whereas he rejected/ fled her.
She even threatened FL to burry her and use her as fertilizer, hintting why the maid before her disappeard.

She tried to rape the ML using aphrodisiac, in the end she was raped. Fair?
She just reap what she sow.

I don't feel that she was wronged.

And I don't even speak about The Empress being an accomplice to her brother the Regent. She was quietly watching the Regent bully the Emperor in a wait for having the Emperor in her bed.

I feel like she was lucky not to end up dead in the end, considering the number of casualties she provoked.

If she was innocent, I would have understood her. But she had too much blood on her hands.

That was a questionnable FL to say the least.
