Maybe When Zhuisu state anihilated the Bo clan, Situ Ling was at Master Bo's house.
He got abducted to provide leverage on Master Bo, on the quest for the GMD.
And then got adopted by the Emperor because He believe Situ Ling/ Chao Yan had Bo clan's bloodline.

If that theory is true. There will be a power switch at the Qingyun tournament ahead.
Because if Situ Ling is the real heir of the Mountain state and not Ming Xian.
This is a all knew story.

I think Situ Ling might be the other baby born that night. Possibly.
Theory

I have not yet watched today's episode but honestly Ming Yi is dumb as long as it is about love :

She should have understood her adopted daughter status from the way Her Royal parents treated her.

She should also have understood that Ji BoZai gave her a weird scallion pancake when he blocked her mouth from coughing saying, "don't loose any of it".

When it is about love, she becomes blind to her loved one's action. And get played easily.

This is also why Situ Ling played her for so long. That weird friendship was questionnable.
The guy was popping everywhere she was. So weird.

I enjoyed the show overall.
I know that nobody can escape a harem. The only way is either being dead or with a Royal Decree.
During this show, I couldn't imagine any way for the Emperor to let Ling Yun and Wu Ling Fu leave.
So the only way would be for them to fake their death.
Even this seemed hard for them to do. So I like the ending.
It is better than leaving in a corpse bag.

This was also my concern. I thought only Harem Eunuchs was castrated.
The Harem guard was not supposed to be castrated. I think it was because they were not guarding the consort's palaces but the all Harem, like the Yamen would do.
But this is how I understood the show.

I think you miss a point. FL never decided to lay low. ML was never stupid, he would have died if so.
Consort Jing was the Empress, not just an average consort.

Yes the power dynamic changed during the Consort Jing's arc but ML and FL became weak but what could they do opposing an Empress?
Only pretend and become double agents.

Will the Emperor die.?
Where are the remenants of the previous dynasty?
What did Consort Mu put in place all this time? Was it only what we so?
Will Consort Jing die?
Will they leave the harem safely? Can they even flee and pretend to be dead?

From the Consort Jing's arc it was totally different, indeed. Ling Yun was a strong heroine and she became a victim. So, the power dynamic changed drastically. I understand you.

However, regarding the ending : this is the best ending possible.
I though they would fake their death to escape the harem in a corpse bags.

I prefer the way it ended. I has an open ending look.
A season 2 would be great because a lot of plot points are not resolved yet.

If you're famous actress and you spend quality time with a radom stranger. You are just clueless or an idiot.

I don't seem to figure out if Situ Ling is really driven by feelings or if he is obeying someone's command.
He doesn't have any spiritual vain but he managed to cultivate his insect "whatever that is".

Consort Jing seems to have a grudge against FL. Don't tell me itis about ML's favor!!!
And I feel that she will fight FL to death after using her. SMH
That show is good. Good story telling and acting.
I just have a hard time with the half bold MLs but the show is good, and I forget that aspect.. Luckily.. Or else I would have missed a nice watch.

I knew upfront it was shallow script wise, but I wanted to know the ending.
It was just a lost of time : Messy ending wich lowers the drama's quality. Too bad the always try to give viewers the ending they want.

In a nutshell :
Females are forbidden to compete in warriors arenas.
And the BO clan's medicine is a reason to kill innocent people.

Ji BoZai and Ming Yi's interactions are more and more interesting now that they play that cat and mouse game. LOLOL
