Yes, you are right. I think that, This is his evil nature resurfacing for a second. He was never good anyway.
He was abducted as a baby, by the head master from his underworld clan. To serve the sect head master's plan. So he was never an immortal. You are right he should wear black clothes but he was disguided by the head master.
So this is why you saw him smurk this way.
You missed some elements watching the drama 2x speed.

Hey got your notification! The fact that SW wasn't aware of a fourth missing kid seems highly suspicious considering…
Yes I remember when they concealed the picture. Yes I thought about Park too. He looked like him.

I think that the writers are throwing Park before our eyes to hide the real culprit. Because everything accuses him. Even the black jacket he wore at the retreat.
I re-watched the scene and found out that around 5 people had a black t-shirt or jacket beneath their coloured jacket that day, including a woman interpreter. So many people in black could have pushed HeeJoo.

To me the more suspiscious is the more supportive.
The one who spoiled Sa Eon's unique day off in 3 years.
The one who received the old man's call and led Sa Eon to go to the fishing store, whereas an accomplice was about to set the place on fire.
The one who chose HeeJoo to be the interpreter.
The one who was leading the retreat and put everybody on a cliff to take photos.
The one who was filming everybody in the bus via a so-called video call. And the one who shows the more support, and plays dumb, so that nobody suspects him. But he has all the security clearance and code to do whatever he wants.

=> Chief of staff. but this is my hunch.

Update : I feel that even if Park was doing something. The one capable of knowing beforehands what it is about would be the Chief of staff. Because of the level of clearance he has.
Evidently, if the writers decided on another culprit, out of my logic. Someone else can be the twin.

Wow this is complex. That twin story + helper / mastermind is hard to grasp.

If I summup :
1) A twin is a helper or the mastermind.
2) 2 twin brothers was in the orphanage. They disappeared.
3) Sa Eon was entrusted to the Baek family by his father to impersonate the hidden son who has psychopathic murderous tendencies. And was (almost? ) drawned by his Grand'pa.
4) Sa Eon never lived in the orphanage.
5) The culprit accused Sa Eon of being responsible of the missing twin's case.
6 ) When Sang U learned that the troubling started at his arrival he froze and reflected.
7) In A told HeeJoo that Sa Eon killed someone. She might have learn about it from the marstermind or the helper meanwhile she received the DNA test.
8) HeeJoo and Sa Eon received the same video, at the same time. HeeJoo went to Sang U. And they were at the same location Park gave to Sa Eon .
9) Sang U knows the HeeJoo can speak.
10) Park seems to have known sang U.

Don't they want to frame Sang U? or Use Sang U to sow discord between Sa Eon and HeeJoo.
Why ? The investigation Sang U is doing disturbs this mob. They might have started their operation when Sang U arrived to frame him.
Would Sang U be close to discover who the culprit is? So to stop him they drive him to the crime scene and make him look guilty. That would mean that either he has evidence or at some point of time he was close to the mastermind. SO there might be an easy way to incriminate Sang U.

The twin is someone who know Sang U was arriving in the city.
The twin is connected to Sang U monitor him.
The twin can monitor and manipulate Sa Eon.
The twin can monitor and manipulate HeeJoo.
The twin is skilled in computing.

=> Park would be an ideal culprit but He is to obvious as a scapegoat to me. Being the right hand man of Sa Eon. However, Park could be from the orphanage because I don't remember seing him with the nun and we don't know his family background.

I think I am going to stick to Chieff of staff as the potencial twin. Because, being in the blue house, he could meddle with Park's investigation. He could have spied on Sa Eon or HeeJoo's phone at the office. Thus pin point their localisation.

Mama Baek also has her responsibility in all this.

We have some good points about the mother and In-A said @charleymiamore, who read the novel :

"I'll tell you this: you and @sachapz got some ideas about In-ah and mama Baek right😅 so let's just see if they play out in the drama😅"

I am super happy my hunch is confirmed ... partly... in the novel. I don't know if the drama will follow the same narrative. But let's see.

Oh yes?!! The novel is this hot hot hot?? Ohhhh See the light 🎶
WoW this must be something. And if novel Sa Eon is a grey-ish character. It is even more interesting.

You make me want to read it LOL.

I am happy to know that I decyphered some clues. The mother looked to shady to me from the very start.

Another slop from CheezeFilm...
I would say it is made with teenager for teenagers. and young audience.
It is just what it is. The plot is logical and teens might like this story, in which they can recognize their own experience.
It has it flaws, yes. It is low budget, yes. But it is not sloppy for me.

Indeed, You will laugh at my messy theory LOL.
Yes, let's wait. Too many questions need to be answered. To changed elements in the plot so it might be different.
Ohh, What a great drama. I will read the novel after the drama finished. :)

Hi thank you for anwsering, this puzzled me a lot since we are waiting to know the aftermath of the old man's store arson.

Yes I remember that he was very fishy during the car chase. Especially after Sa Eon told him that all the troubles and kidnappings started the moment he appeared. At that exact moment he stopped and he was thinking out of the blue.
I wonder if someone isn't following his investigation or something similar.
It was very weird.

"(besides i don't think he'd be able to stay so calm if he knew HJ nearly died because of the revenge plan)."
True, because he is in love with HeeJoo. there is no way he could keep his composure after the accident..
Sang U doesn't fit the persona of the helper / twin. He has no access to the blue house; he could not be the one pushing HeeJoo from the cliff (because he loves her) ; he always returns to the orphanage, so, like you, I do think someone would have recognized him.
If I think about it. The purpose of this whole scheme is to :
1) get rid of fake Sa Eon
2) get back the position of fake Sa Eon.
3) get valuable intel on the Blue house's personal , Sa Eon and HeeJoo. To arm the plan.
4) Take revenge on Daddy Baek and the legacy of Grand'pa Baek ( for trying to drawn the real Sa Eon ). In dramas usually that means take the ownership of the family assets.

The Person I think would be able to help in all this would be Daddy Baek's personal assistant.
Because he knows all the Baek's secrets. He has intels. We don't see him a lot but so far he manipulates Daddy Baek very well. ( making him do tricky public statements in the name of the so-called political campain. The ambition is blinding Daddy Baek. He doesn't see that his actions are not fruitful. On the contrary, he is discrediting himself more and more as time passes.)
To me Daddy Baek's personal assistant would be the twin.

Yes, I agree, he seems more like a middle man, some sort of helper. One of the paradisers.
The mastermind to me is Sa Eon's mother. She has everything to win if Sa Eon disappears. She is too protective toward her psycho son. She is definitly too weird.
My theory regarding the mother being the mastermind :

Thank you so much. I saw the nun talking but at that point I was looking at him and I missed that part.
He is fishy since he was in the car with HeeJoo. Weird glares and, why does he know that HeeJoo speaks.
I used to think that he was innocent but now he looks more and more guilty to me.
