23 - Yes ! Totaly agree. ML felt a little dull to me, I also think that he must improve his acting. Luckily FL saved the drama. This plot was so different from what I saw before. I loved it.
The hot kisses, oh yessss. The best chinese kiss I have seen was in a mini drama.
In long Length dramas it is either fish kisses or they stick their faces to one another and call that a kiss ( the "gone with the wind" way, like in the 50's :/ )
I don't like kisses in c-dramas. I prefer kisses in k-dramas. No comparison. When you will watch "when the phone rings" just remember we spoke about this. I won't spoil the episode. But wow, this kiss between ML & FL is everything. It made me feel like a voyeur, I couldn't sustain to watch them.
I rewatched it once again and felt the same emotion. Probably the best kiss I have ever watched in a drama.
24 - I think you will like it. This is the kind of drama you can watch again and again and find a new detail that explains the plot. Pure marvel.

Yes that's a pity for Wen Xiao because every other cast member (especially the female cast members) was better served regarding makeup. Too bad the FL, the one with the more screen time was "Pink faced" like this. When I noticed it, it disturbed my experience as a viewer. But yes, in costume dramas young FL wear pale makeup, They just should have paid attention to her neck too.

It is a very good story about a weak enslaved country struggling in seeking freedom from 2 of his super powerful neighbouring countries.
It is one of the best political, spy, wuxia drama I have ever seen and Allen Ren is superb in this drama alongside Landy Li and Jeremy Tsui ( amazing antagonist wow, he made me like him and pity him, such great actor )
It is marvelous. Full of hidden clues, subtl encoded messages exchanged between the characters. Highly rewatchable.

24 - "Love of Nirvana" agreed, this was also my answer. And also like "Story of a pearl girl." the sea look very real too.

23 - "Wonderland" ? Yes I remember, there was a hype before it aired. It was maybe because like you said , the topic felt ground breaking. But I did not understand why this drama did not keep the momentum. Suzy was coming back. And everybody wanted to see her. At the time I wanted to watch it then I totally forgot it.

23 - "The Good Place" was amazing. I got hooked and stuck to it till the end. It made me think a lot about where the characters were really evolving. It is indeed one of a kind. I would ike a remake of this show.
24 got me stuck as well. I don't know the others.

I will purposefully avoid to speak about TTEOTM or "The Double", because they are perfect dramas.
22. A drama that deserves the hype
"When the phone rings". I liked "lovely runner" even if it wasn't perfect regarding time travel logic. I still loved it.
"Your eyes tell" J-movie, OST by BTS. A great movie.

23. An innovative drama you watched in 2024
"Fortune Writer" mini drama with a anti heroine Female Lead and a very different type of plot. It answers the question : how an anti heroine can do bad things and still play the part of a protagonist?
It is not like "Night in love with you" in which the Female Lead is an antagonist and know how the story dynamic works, so she tries to make things go well.
No. This anti heroine is purpose fully doing very bad things to jeopardize the story. I was amazed.
This kind of new dinamic can only be found in mini dramas. Because censorship is killing creativity on the long length dramas. This is also why I like mini dramas so much. The crews get more freedom.

24. Favorite costumes of 2024
"Love of Nirvana" is almost perfect drama in my eyes.

I would say Chen Zhuo. (As for episode 12) But On this episode I suspect Chen Yue impersonated Chen Zhuo on the balcony scene.

I am on episode 12 and I suspect that Yue already impersonated Zhuo. For the first time. I might be wrong.
