Miscellous question : in dramaland can the Title of Empress be bestowed to the late wife of a widower, after he…
I wondered if a widower who becomes Emperor, can after his coronation bestow the title of Empress to his late wife.
Normally No. Because, for a title to be bestowed, the recipient must accept the decree read by the eunuch. Thus, if there is no wife, then there is no title.
The answer is : Historically, the only posthumous title that can be bestowed is the title of Dowager. This title is bestowed by the new Emperor ( often the son of the late Emperor ).
So, a newly crowned widower can never bestow a title of Empress to his late wife. However, as a viewer pointed out , writers can do whatever they want in dramas, therefore a deceased Empress who cannot manage the Royale Household and thus the Royal Harem can exist in dramaland.
However, in "Kill Me Love Me" , the maids servants spoke about the late wife of the Emperor as the Empress. And the Emperor did not keep a harem. So historically, that situation would be accurate.
I was trying to understand the ending of a drama. Those directors are making the endings, more and more complex to let everybody free to believe whatever they want to. And often, that leads are dead. Because they LOVE sad endings. I wanted to know if the heroine survived.
Yes, she survived. But a lot of people think she died. *SMH*
Whereas she survived several years and it's a type of Happy Ending.
I think empress dowager titles are bestowed posthumous but never seen an empress titled bestowed after death.
Thank You. I wanted to understand the ending of "Kill Me Love Me". To decypher the status of female lead on the last scenes. Because she was addressed as Empress, so she received the decree. When that puzzle hit me, I couldn't find an answer. But luckily we crossed path, thank you so much. I don't know if you watched that drama. If not, don't worry, it is not a spoiler.

Yes, this is also the feeling I got. Dowagers are bestowed the title and the properties they will manage after the previous Emperor dies. But that's it. A widower could not single handedly acknowledge his late wife, as Empress, after she died. If maid servants call her Empress, then it means that she received a decree. So she was alive. Thank you so much @Nunu T (^_^)
Miscellous question : in dramaland can the Title of Empress be bestowed to the late wife of a widower, after he becomes Emperor? Because technically a title needs to be bestowed via an imperial decree. And that Imperial decree would have to be received by the Empress in this case. + The ending.

The one who had a weak body condition was Mei Lin, due to all the spoil food she had after Qinzhou great arson.…
Ohh !!! Ah Ah. I missed your joke. Yes you are right, in Xianxia Immortals can always resurrect after they die because a sliver of their essence is always safeguarded in some artefact. In this historical drama, the characters are not immortal but like you said I heard about the so-called immortality properties of that dragon flower. If I remember it was the head eunuch of Yan state at the banquet and the King of Xiyan at Xiyan palace who spoke about it.
Xiyan's king? I agree, he is a one dimensional antagonist. Why so much screen time? I really don't know. I noticed that C-dramas all feature those type of simplistic villain. They can have a lot of screen time, ( like in "Story of a pearl girl" now : Master Cui Shi Jiu has. She is a simplistic villainness with a lot of screen time but her role is meaningful to the script. The King of Xiyan was not important at all to the plot, in my opinion. Yet , they gave him a lot of screen time Whereas they could have used this among of screen time to develop more Luo Mei. That's a pity.
"But Mei Lin died before he was crowned."? I think that you theory is good because at the coranation ceremony she wasn't there behind him on the stairs. that makes perfect sense. I suddenly think about something: Could they give the title of Empress to Mei Lin after she died? If she died before the coronation. MRJH would have been a Widower. So basically, not married anymore. So no Empress neither. If the maid servants called her Empress. Did she die after the coronation then? In all dramas, for title to be bestowed, the person has to receive the imperial decree. So I am puzzeld.
PS: cute little cat in the snow by the way. (profile pic)
He is not a narcissist. He plays 3 roles in this drama. - The emperor's third rank minister, Wei Zhao. - The assassin…
Ok thank you. Indeed, this person did not understand the complexity of the character. Did she even bother watching the show. I am not sure. Because, doing so that person would have never called WZ a narcissist. I would not want people to believe in the words of others who did not watch the drama whereas they bash it. Thanks for you kindness ^_^
ML is supposed to avenge his family. And he planned a revenge for a very long time. Why is he going with the flow? Is it because he adapts to what happens?
I’m uncomfortable whenever she’s appears on the screen but for a different reason. It’s partly because she…
I completely understand your point. In reality we agree. I said that she is a one dimensional villain, you said that : "she has not shown any layers in her acting, nor depicted any other feelings other than anger."
You said that she could act more emotionally, I think that the director wanted Chloe to act that way because this antagonist is very simplistic.
We agree in reality. You have valuable points. She is dumb. And the deal in episode 10 is just the worst she could do to her family. Not only are they financially bankrupt but she is adding murder to the case. Very dumb and bad.
wow @Megumi-H You make me happy. I was about to ask the question, but I thought somebody already did. She is indeed really beautiful. I can't wait. Thank you so much :)
Ok I get you now. I was noticing on episode 9 that the schemes of ML wasn't that extraordinary. Nor was the strategies of FL. So, yes, the villains are at the same level as the Leads. Indeed.
None of those schemes compare to the strategies of Wei Zhao and Pei Yan in "Love of Nirvana" or even the Emperor's.
You describe your experience so beautifully. The acting is so great that you are able to follow the journey with Duanwu. It's marvellous. I am on my way to. I hope I can reach that level of understanding of the character too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)
Female lead seems to be clever, for now at least. I hope she will not be dumb down. :/ Because Master Cui is not what I would call a clever girl. ( until ep 9 , to my understanding)
Funny you deleted it. LOL. I am at the very begining of the show ( just after the exposition scenes ) and I have no hope of character development for Cui Shi Jiu. In my opinion she is to incompetent and evil to evolve into someone better.
She represents the opposite of female lead. Like in "THE MATRIX" we had NEO and agent SMITH. The more female lead is capable, good at heart and courageous. The more Cui Shi Jiu is incompetent, evil and coward enough to hide behind her family name and reputation.

Mei Lin was alive after MRJH's coronation.
