I don't think she can change. To me she is a one dimensional villain. And she might continue the same behaviour untill she dies. You say 32 episodes, I am now on my 8th episode and I am not surprised.
In my opinion she is the type of one dimensional antagonist who never develop into a clever person.
As she is impulsive as well. She might end very badly. Even die because her trap backfired on her. Time will tell.

Yes I noticed that she was pretentious and violent. she also hides behind her family name and noble status. She is not skilled enough to win this battle. From what I saw until episode 7.

I am sorry but I don't agree. Her acting is good.
She delivers the script she has been given.
As for the way the characters are written, I have to watch more as I am only on episode 7.
But as I understood her character. Cui Shi Jiu is someone from a family of imposters, who annihilated the Yan family to steal their business.
As such, she cannot be clever because the position she gets, was not from her merits but through murder.

Secondly, the Cui family didn't manage a "virtuous" pearl farm. So she did not use sharp business skills to earn money. The Cui familly basically embezzled the Royal Family. At least, from what I saw until now on episode 7.
So I am not surprised to see her using schemes and loose to ML who has been preparing this revenge for more than 10 years if not 20 years. ( I don't know at this point of time, in the drama.)

Episode 7 :I don't know if Chloe Xie ( Cui Shi Jiu ) will play the main antagonist in this drama..
But how I am unconfortable when Cui Shi Jiu is on screen. She is a beautiful woman, dressed like a man, who basically play a evil SML's or antagonist role. She is evidently good at playing this character.
But if her eyes could kill. None of the characters in this drama would remain alive. 👀

Immortality ? No, that what the King of Xiyan said because he believed in archaic religion but it is not true. Even Prince Yue Qin did not believe in those religious practices.
No, The dragon flower could only neutralize the poison.

Remember, the King of Xiyan ate the dragon flower that Prince Yue Qin reserved to Mei Lin, 5 years later he was dead. So, that immortality believe was fake.

Would they show the finding of the flower?
No, because Xianxia and Wuxia fan like sad endings. This is why they usually don't provide bright happy ending in dramas, but open or sad endings. So that people who like sad ending decide to have what they like. Here there is 2 endings, a happy ending followed by the "the end" and a sad endind that I consider a bonus scene for people who like sad endings, because it comes once the drama is over.

In the last episode MRJH is crowned Emperor 5 years later and he dies 10 years later, making it 15 years.
That's my recollection of the last episode. I will have to rewatch this.

In the novel he takes soemone else's rotten corpses and parades with it in the street feeds it as well. But after that he learns that Mei Lin is in coma. I guess that showing a rotten corpse was not acceptable, so they kept Mei Lin's body.

No she wasn't dead but in coma.

He explained that even agencies can add writers to advrtise their artist.
At that point of time, I strart wondering if the Xiyan arc wasn't to long because they wanted to give more scenes to Bi WenJun ( Prince Yue Qin).
Because they broke the pacing from the Xiyan arc. And a viewer told me that Prince Yue Qin was not an important character in the novel.
So I am puzzled.

The "Red Coix Seed poison" was supposed to prolong Mei Lin's life for 1 year during which, she should have been cured with the "dragon whisker flower" to neutralize completely the momai poison.
But, the events didn't occur as supposed.
She almost died and was saved by the doctor for only 3 months more.
So, her general state worsened.

After that, was the "dragon whisker flower" able to save her completely?

I don't think so, because, remember. Her body condition was so bad that, she could not neutralize momai poison with "Red Coix Seed Potion". And then she was moribund.
So, to me that makes sense that, after all those hardships , even the "dragon whisker flower" could not save her.
Like at the time the "RedCoix Seed Potion" was uneffective to do so.

Yes the flower was rare but Prince Yue Qin managed to find one or make it bloom. Prince Jing had a lot of people to search the forest. They could have found it.
We don't know when she died. We only know that 15 years later she was dead.

A viewer told me that with more than 3 writers, scripts get messed up.
