The drama is good and quality one and some actors showed superb acting skills :) music and osts are beautiful too, so in overall its enjoyable
the book is much better and with different plots, so for me drama only took an idea and characters names from the novel

and I do agree emperor has been played so well especially the stroke sceens!

We will see him in ep 30

for me there are too many episodes about court politics, plots which really has no impact on the story so far. lets see what they are going to do in the remaining 8 episodes, but for sure 29 & 30 are still focused on court events
In 30 Amai will be imprisoned as well as CYQ...

based on trailers Chang Yu Qing will have some small screen time in episode 30...

that was emperor's memory - so young princess Shenghua and young emperor

so we will see finally SML in episode 30 and Amai will be accused of collaboration with enemy as she let free CYQ ... but it might be actually Chen Qi plot as ofc he doesn't want her to lead a defence
ofc nothing like that happen in the novel but at least we will see some war and Beimo army

you missed a shot and you hit a guy who was clearly running to catch your target and screaming he will kill him... I think you should check if that person is still alive or at least who was it...

its not a first drama when main leads got reduced to supporting characters...

I think that in next episodes we can expect to see a plot of PM + Grand Princess who will try to get a rid of Amai as she will be clearly a marriage obstacle - ML wants to marry her not LR

Chen Qi probably colluded with someone from court as his army is still sitting and eating popcorn ;)

Also in drama he is a key to power for his manipulative adoptive mother and I doubt he will be able to oppose her decisions.

He should tell her truth and try to find out why and how that happen... also I think they were talking about Duke Wei so his adoptive father not the former crown prince - instead of showing that Amai really has no compatibility with ML screenwriters just made up another stupid plot twist ;)

as a leader of the nation you want a person to be considerate of his subject lives, being reasonable and listen to advisors, but keeping his own judgement and being aware of deceit
And anyone including his mother can manipulate him in the drama
he has Xi Jing and Amai to advise him but he is no opponent to Prime Minister who is supposed to became his father in law...
So I would say without proper character development he will make a puppet emperor
