Her entire speech about men turning evil later in life when there is the case of her own grandmother was so out of place i couldnt believe they filmed that, looked at that, edited that and decided that its great and has a place right there at the end, when the ML was already absolutely and completely on the ground, metaphorically dying

Honorable mentions in the drama: - RSB slapping her idiot brother at the beginning. I hope Gulnezer's hand is okay. She really went in - mr He - obsessed to the bone, the actor really pulled it off, you could see the madness in his eyes - Wen Chan's head band - conceals his lack of brain - Lu Jianglai's little moustache - enough said - Mrs Yang baldcap - Lang Zhu Sheng - Jiang Lai's deputy - the voice of reason that was, unfortunately, ignored - monkey throwing stuff from the tree, unfortunately missing LJL and landing on Zhu Sheng. A shame, cause he could use another hit on the head, maybe that would have fixed whatever broke when he started lusting after RSB - Jun Dai - just cute trying to survive the madness in one piece - Lu Jianglai's dignity - long dead and gone, you will be missed - Shen Xiang Ling's audacity - for someone who doesnt really do anything, she sure has a lot to say about everything - Rong Shanbao's omnipotency - she should start a second bussiness in divination, how she knows everything we dont know, but she knows - Rong Shanbao's restraint - some of these men were really trying to get at her, and somehow she didnt kill them. I wouldnt be so patient personally - Aaaand the moustache makes a come back, at this point it had more screen time than romance between the leads - the book - the star of the show, im not even gonna say more about it cause im speechless at how they played this out, not a good kind of speechless either - HMH acting in this scene with the infamous book - when he realizes RSB lied to him again and orchestrated this entire resolution behind his back. He somehow embodied the look of total betrayal with the look of hapiness that the case was turning in their favor. I had to look away for a bit from his face cause it really struck deep something in me - you could see how hurt he was inside but still cheered her on in a way. If there's antyhing I will remember from this drama I think it's this scene honestly - the carriage in ep 28 that witnessed the scene that gave ma a trauma. Run from her LJL, RUN - Yunshu - for no matter how psychotic she was, she still showed more emotion towards mr Bai than RSB towards LJL in the entire show. Also the actress - i was very impressed. She did a good job - Mr Yan's back hugging RSB in ep 29 - the look of utter revulsion on her face was the first sign of stronger emotion that she showed in a while - Yunxi fighing for her man and going "Ive made my choice" - now that was something - i dont even know how to comment on their sleeping together for the first time - it was a definition of "i will fuck you for you to fuck off", lord have mercy, what is this. HMH can sure kiss, and Gulnezer didnt hold back either, but the setting of the kiss scene was so toxic and terrible I couldnt even enjoy it - RSB trying to sneak up on LJL sneakily in ep 33 - i thought i was hallucinating, it was so out of character for her to be even slightly playful - second to last mention goes to the best and quickest character development of the show - Lady Chang - duke's wife - she did one eighty and what a turn that was, really my favourite. Him crying like a baby when she bit his ear off and her cackling was PEAK 👁👄👁 - Jun Dai bowing happily to very jealous Steward Cheng And with jealous steward Cheng I will end.
I finally finished this drama after almost dropping it 2 times. Im free now, it has released me from its clutches. Quick few words of what I thought about it - I have some mixed feelings to be honest. There were quite a few things that frustrated the hell out of me. Which were: - the false advertisement. Summary and tags are really misleading. Its a very female centric drama. Its mostly about Rong family, their schemes against each other and some bussiness elements. ML becomes rather secondary in this. While that in itself is not a bad thing, what is bad is the deceit. It's also unfair to main leads - HMH's role is pretty diminished even though he's frist billing, and Gulnezer takes the raigns. HMH deserves more screen time and plot pertaining mainly to his character in a drama that's claiming him as ML, and Gulnezer is an artist on her own, why shouldnt a drama with her as the main point be advertised as that? It's really unfair to both of them - using him for clout and hiding her big involvement like it woduln't pull an audience. Give them both some credit. - very poor development of the romance part - it becomes incredibly unbalanced. Its not a mature and healthy relationship. He becomes a compelte fool in love (which feels out of character that he's supposed to be) and she becomes an ommipotent cold and unfeeling version of her grandmother (that really mistreated her most of the time). We dont really see HOW they fall in love. We're not sure she loves him. They dont really get to know each other properly at all. Wasted chemistry that was there in some of the first episodes. - not utilizing the actors's skills - with such a cast, you could do a lot. But they didnt use their actors properly. The main characters were constrained heavily by the script, leading to some performances appearing either completely out of character, nonsensical or just flat. LJL is dumbed down in later episodes, it seems only to highlight FL's intelligence. The FL plays him for a fool the entire time, and then moves on. FL is made to be this unpenetrable fortress, while she would greatly benefit from being able to show SOME emotions, if anything to contrast her strength. There's also no reason to strip LJL from all of his dignity either. They really could do it all better, write it better, direct it better. - not explaining the development of the plot properly - most of the time we see only the end result of the schemes, with a person coming on top and the schemer losing face. The first is usually the FL. We are told she's smart and capable but we dont know how she knows everything, what her thought process was and how she achieved the victory. We only see the victory itsefl. Or the failure of the villans, cause we dont see much of their scheming either.
What I liked: - OST - beautiful scenery - such pretty green when it comes to the the plantation, nice sets too - pretty costumes - especially the female ones, the male ones were worse - the husband hunting in the beginning - pretty entertaining, not that serious - family schemes weren't overtly complicated - they didnt tire me out too much - some of the side cast was really good too.
It's hard to say if I recommend this drama. You have to know what you're getting into. Dont expect it to be evenly split between the leads, dont expect too much romance (especially if you like more mature relationships, with communication and mutual respect), cause its not that. Just watch it casually after school, or work, to unwind without much emotion behind it, and you may enjoy it.
As a sidenote - Ive heard that YZ was babbling something about second season. Lord no - they deserve better than this. I really hope HMH doesnt agree to this tomfoolery again - and if he for some reason has to, that all he agrees to is filming few shots on green screen with the costume on, so they can plaster him somewhere in the background in post production for all of the 3 scenes he would have gotten anyway, so he doesnt have to personally go there. And make it openly about RSB, give Gulnezer the spotlight for her contribution.
Below tagged as spoilers are some of my ramblings that I jotted down while watching. Warning - they are not very coherent. Might be emotional too cause I was frustrated a lot lol
Producer YZ: "According to Maoyan data, #Glory# has garnered 2.8 billion views, with 1 billion effective views.…
damn right the actors are carrying the show - what else could? chopped script that probably he himself butchered? everything ive heard about this dude so far was negative
Depends on what your expectations are. I recommend if you like VERY female centric dramas, with inter family scheming, some bussiness and only a bit of romance and case solving.

Oh my, all this effort just for his character to be sidelined and the drama made dominantly about FL and her family? That's kind of sad for him, didnt know he was this sick while filming. It makes it even worse 😬
since the progression of the relationship between the leads is unusual, its very difficult to say when they really…
For me personally she manipulated him do much, especially in second half, there was not much love at all. You can interpret her behavior as you will but i dont think you should be told by side characters that the FL cares for ML, i would have like to really see it myself and i feel like i didnt 🤷
No, me too, i think they messed up the development of main characters to the point that its very difficult to…
I can report that ive finished 33 episodes and im gonna watch the rest tomorrow. And them im propably gonna come here to rant 😂 i do have some words to vent 🥲
The purpose of the final arc was to contrast the matriarchal Rongs with the ultimate toxic patriarchal family.…
im on ep 33 and i quite agree that it serves as a contrast and also was kind of a test. that being said, i still think they shouldnt get together in the end - the relationship is too one-sided, and not because of matriarchal or patriarchal values, its because they have never really gotten to know each other, not properly. at the very least, for me, the drama didnt show that, which makes the romance somewhat hallow and frustrating to watch
