Title Love in Time
Don't you love it when c dramas take Taiwanese dramas and completely ruin it with horrible casting also the age…
The actor is 28 and the actress 20, there's nothing wrong here. If the actress was a minor, I could understand but both actors are adults and they are playing adult characters, the ML is a lawyer and the FL a journalist. Granted, the production could have chosen an older actor and and older actress to reflect the real ages of the characters but it's a show about time travel, not a reality-like drama.

You can give up this discussion. Euphoria goes nuclear with every poster who doesn't agree with her on this subject which makes me suspect there is something personal in this affair for her, which she will deny of course. But you can't reason with someone like her who dares to compare rapists and paedophiles to a cheater and who refuses to aknowledge that the actress who recorded and leaked that audio also did something wrong, or that it takes two to tango.

Personally I think the writer gave this a best ending possible for a Happy one without pulling it off this way…
Absolutely. The merging of the two ML was the best scenario, the one I had hoped for. As you said, it was against nature to have 2021 FL ending with 2022 ML. In a way, both 2022 ML and FL vanished or died, because the events leading to their deaths won't happen in 2021. If you change a significant part of the past, then the future changes.

2022 ML won't have to move out of his apartment and therefore, he won't become the 2022 we have seen and YET, he became this man because like his 2022 version, he fell for the FL. She was the one who made them change, because of their falling in love.

Much better ending than the other shows I have watched, where it was a novel (Mr Bad, the heart of the genius, The day of becoming you) or another one whose title escapes me right now, where the FL traveled back in time, fell in love with the ML from the past, changed his future therefore the timeline was changed and he forgot meeting her and falling in love with her while the time traveling FL remembered everything. Talk about a bittersweet ending.

But honestly, the fact that 2022ver has to die, I still couldn't accept it. He really has a tragic destiny. I'm…
2022 ML was always supposed to die, or vanish. The best case scenario was the 2021 version and the 2022 version merging so that all the moments 2022 ML and 2021 FL shared still exist in his memory.

2022 ML is the ML from 2021, only 4 months apart. Once the FL is saved, then 2021 ML's life is changed because he has fallen in love with her and will not go through the pain of losing her and will not go through losing his job. Therefore, his future self will no longer exist. Because he won't lose his job, he won't leave his office, won't need to open a new law office, won't move out of his apartment.

Therefore, 2022 ML would have vanished anyway because the reasons which led him to this apartment no longer exist in 2021.

It could have been much worse, it could have been the censorhip ending (aka, "oh, it was a made up story the FL created while in a coma/it was a novel she was writing) or the 2022 ML could have vanished and 2021 ML and FL not remembering the events.

At least, by merging 2021 and 2022 MLs, what happened, still exist in both the ML and FL's memories and hearts, even though it WILL NOT happen since this timeline has been erased,

So it won't happen, but it has happened in a previous timeline and this wrong timeline was changed thanks to the magical origami. The Origami gave them an incredible gift by merging the two MLs together and by making both the FL and ML remember.

I have watched enough american or english tv series to know that when a timeline is erased, everybody forget the original timeline. Unless you're the Doctor in Doctor Who.

I had watched a chinese time travel drama where the FL was traveling back in time and in the end, she changed the past and the ML forgot about her because the events which caused him to meet her never happened. But the FL remembered and had to meet the man she loved and realized that he didn't know her at all. Talk about a depressing ending. Yes, they met again. But he didn't know her at all because his timeline had been erased.

So the ending for "Love in time" is precious and rare.

I heard that it got a 7.1 on Douban, is that good? Because here, on MDL, it went from 8.3 to 8.0, I don't get it.

The ending is quite simple and true time travel, which is a little miracle where chinese time travel dramas are concerned. The two male leads merged and became one so the FL, who had a primary relationship with 2022 ML (whom she met first and developped feelings first) and a secondary relationship with 2021 ML (who was a bit harder to crack but that's because he hadn't lived YET what his future self had lived, aka losing his job, his reputation, his best friend dying), well, the FL ended up having the best of both worlds with both guys.

Honestly, there was one single timeline, 2022 ML's memories were updated by the changes made in 2021 and felt by 2021 ML. We are talking about the same man, even if the FL got it stuck in her mind that she was dealing with two men, which was a bit absurd. On the surface, yeah, but time and space proved time and time again that it was the same man, just 4 months apart.

On another note, the pic sections has been updated for this drama, yeah! Lovely stills and pics posted, thanks.

oh yes, happy it isn't the ending you predicted 👏👏 But this lead to the question: why dramas such as Day…
2022 ML's memory was updated everytime there was a change in the past so the story was dealing with one timeline. It wasn't a new timeline created everytime something was changed. Therefore, at some point, 2022 ML had to disappear once the FL's life was saved.

So I expected him to vanish in thin air once Jialan was saved (since the past has been changed and that was what the magical origami wanted) and then to merge with 2021 ML.

But I didn't expect him to be murdered. I guess the show had been telling us all along that it would happen, a life for a life, Jialan was murdered so if she's not, then it's 2022 ML who has to be murdered. The famous entropy energy the characters kept talking about.

Yes, a good surprise. Maybe it's because it's a remake from a taiwanese (I think?) drama and the chinese producers had to buy the rights and the original owners write in the contract that the ending had to be a time travel ending ?

Even if the chinese drama was allowed to take another direction where the murder mystery was concerned. After all, why bother buying the rights of a drama just to make a 100% copy?

With chinese time travel dramas, I always hope for the best while expecting the worst. Aka hoping for a real time travel ending and expecting a novel/coma censorship ending.

I guess the origami is an asian symbol so we'll have to accept that it was some magical explanation.

And why this drama had the time travel ending while others like the others you mentioned don't? Hmm, maybe Dear Diary was part taiwanese? I mean, where was it shot, Taiwan? And there were taiwanese actors so maybe the fact that the production was part chinese part taiwanese is the explanation? Taiwanese producers are more open to time travel and write that in the contract?

Also, "Love in time" is a remake from a taiwanese drama, right? So the chinese producers had to buy the rights to adapt and maybe it was written in the contract that the ending had to be time travel, like the original drama, even if the drama itself went in another direction with the murder mystery?

Just a theory.

So relieved and so happy with the ending. With chinese time travel dramas, I am used to having two endings in my heart: the one the writers had planned all along but couldn't shoot because of the rules about time travel, and the ridiculous censorship ending, aka, it was a dream, a coma, a book the character was writing, or reading.

So glad that this time, it was real. It makes this drama so much more special. Plus the actors were really into their roles and gave it everything (well, at least the main couple, the second couple? Jirong was not right in the head, IMO), I loved the sets, the clothes, the apartment where everything took place, and the actors were handsome (what? I love some eye candy!).

Just a quick question, so if someone thinks the same way or has another explanation, here it is : the overlap happens every night at 10.06 pm and ends up at 10.52pm, right? Could the reason be because:

- the FL died at 10.06 pm on that road

- the 2022 ML died at the exact same place at 10.52 pm?

And both were murdered by the same guy because of the same affair?

Also, was the glowing creature, the one which allowed the overlap to happen, some kind of angel or another mythical chinese creature?

WTF is Jirong problem ?
Good question. I wonder why on earth she got married. That marriage was doomed because of her. First it was the so-called cheating. And then, her choosing her brother over her husband? Who, in the end, agrees to have his brother-in-law in their lives if it's important to her, and despite all that? She still wants a divorce.

I have no idea why she got married. I hope the SML will get over her and will NOT get back with her.

I hope it will be a true time travel drama. I'm tired of the censorship endings. On tope of that, I think the writers troll the censors with their "it was a novel all along". Because when used once or twice, okay but when it becomes the norm, don't tell me that the writers aren't making fun of censorship by all choosing this novel ending.

That would be an ideal ending. At some poing, the ML will vanish because the past will be changed completly. So him merging with his past self gives the hope that at some point, something will trigger his memories of this future timeline which disappeared.

Better than : "Oh, it was a novel she was writing".

Yep, Jirong was the problem in this marriage. She chose to believe her husband cheated on her in the beginning, leading to her death, and now she chose her brother, even knowing about how he gambled, lied, and tried to kill her and Jialan. She chose him over her husband.

Why did she marry Sheng Hao? I have no idea. He loved her, she didn't love him. Maybe liked him and thought it would be enough but I don't believe for one minute that she loved him.

Anyway, in this drama (which might be a made up story by Jia Lan while in a coma), could it be a case of "a life for a life"? someone has to die so if it's not Jirong, then it's Jia Lan?

Hey, in episode 3, the FL talks with the ML and she mentions having seen "Javier" on the net. Isn't that the spanish(I think?) guy who claimed to have woken up from a coma in the year 2027 and the whole world was empty? And he was filming empty streets, museums, police stations, malls, to prove what he was saying?

Is that a hint that this drama is happening in the FL's coma, in your opinion?

Weird, I thought Dear Diary was a taiwanese production and that was why it hadn't be released on DVD. I wanted to buy it. I thought that maybe in Taiwan, some drama producers prefered an internet release, on Amazon for example.

Also, wasn't the ending sad? It's been a year, for Dear Diary and I think it had a sad ending. But there was a bonus 10 minutes mini-episode which gave some hope.

Still, it's weird that both Dear Diary and First Love again, which have taiwanese actors in a chinese production, went for the time travel ending, when most chinese dramas don't. I wonder why.

I'm starting to suspect Jirong. I mean, she was dead in the original timeline but the more I see her, the more I find her weird. She looks constantly tired, sad and not as much into this marriage as Shang Hao. Maybe this marriage was doomed to fail because of Jirong and not because of Shang Hao.

Now, why is she like this, I don't know. Personality disorder? Self-sabotaging herself?
