Moon River Review: Plot Twists, Body Swaps & Epic Romance!
Today I finally finished Moon River, and honestly… this drama surprised me in the best way. From the very first episodes, I was completely sold on the leads paired together. Their chemistry felt emotional, soft, intense, and fated all at once. Add that to a storyline full of mystery, romance, and political intrigue, and I was hooked way more than I expected to be.At its core, Moon River is a historical fantasy romance that blends palace politics, destiny, and a love story that literally refuses to be broken. The story follows Prince Yi Kang, a man shaped by loss and revenge, and Dal-i, a woman with a hidden past and a destiny far bigger than she realizes. Their lives become intertwined through secrets, conspiracies, and a supernatural connection that goes beyond logic or time.
As the plot unfolds, we get political power struggles, hidden identities, soul-swapping twists, and a slow-burn romance that steadily grows into something unshakable.
Yi Kang is the kind of male lead who starts off guarded and calculating, but slowly reveals a deeply loyal and emotional core. His journey from revenge-driven prince to someone willing to risk everything for love is one of the strongest parts of the drama.
Dal-i is quietly strong, compassionate, and resilient. She’s not loud or flashy, but her emotional endurance and moral clarity carry the story. Watching her grow into her identity while still holding onto her kindness was incredibly satisfying.
The supporting characters also stand out, especially Je-woon and Woo-hee, whose relationship adds both tension and heartbreak, and Han-chul, a villain whose tragic past makes him compelling without excusing his actions.
One of my biggest likes is the romance. This drama truly commits to the idea of love as a choice, not just destiny. Yi Kang and Dal-i consistently choose each other, even when it costs them safety, power, or peace.
I also loved the emotional storytelling. This show isn’t afraid to slow down and let moments breathe... whether it’s grief, longing, or quiet happiness. The fantasy elements, especially the body swap and fate symbolism, were surprisingly well-integrated and tied directly into the characters’ emotional arcs rather than feeling gimmicky.
That said, Moon River isn’t perfect. The plot does get dense, especially in the later episodes. If you’re not paying close attention, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by shifting alliances and revelations. The body swap mechanics, while meaningful, can be confusing at times, especially during high-stakes scenes. And pacing-wise, there are moments early on where the story feels slower than it needs to be, though in hindsight, a lot of that groundwork pays off later.
Overall, Moon River is a drama that rewards patience. If you enjoy emotionally rich romances, layered characters, and stories where love is tested again and again, this one is absolutely worth watching. It’s not just about palace politics or fantasy twists; it’s about choosing love, healing from the past, and finding hope even when everything feels stacked against you.
By the end, I wasn’t just satisfied... I was genuinely moved.

Fun But Kind of Lacking
The plot has a strong premise, but the execution does not fully live up to it. The idea of former military members teaming up to stop a terrorist is compelling, yet the story takes too long to reach its central conflict. By the time the team is finally assembled, nearly three quarters of the series has already passed, which significantly weakens the pacing and overall momentum. The main villain is also absent for much of the show, making him feel underdeveloped. His motivations lack clarity and depth, which lessens the impact of the central threat.Even accounting for the show’s comedic tone, some character choices are off putting. The tech character, in particular, comes across as creepy in the way he behaves toward the female agent, and this undercuts the humor rather than enhancing it. Still, the series remains somewhat enjoyable. The cast does the best they can with the material they are given, and their performances are largely what kept the show engaging enough to not completely lose interest.

An easy, fun watch for a break from intense dramas
I shortlisted this drama because I was in the mood for something light, and I thought a hotel-themed story would suit the year-end vibe. Overall, the drama is fine. It does what it sets to deliver something light, fun, and cute without demanding too much emotional investment. What works for me:
Cinematography - I really enjoyed the Korean-style cinematography. It has a romantic, cozy feel, and many of the shots are beautifully framed. The visuals are easy on the eyes, and I appreciate that it doesn’t rely on heavy filters, which makes everything feel more natural and pleasant to watch.
Main leads’ chemistry- Both leads look very “K-drama-esque” and visually complement each other well. Their chemistry is convincing, with plenty of cute and funny interactions. By the middle of the drama, they already give me the vibe of an old married couple, which I found endearing. Hahaha.
Story elements - Some of the storylines involving the hotel patrons were surprisingly touching, to the point I even teared up a little. The overall narrative progresses naturally, and I was especially relieved that the writers avoided overused, silly tropes like memory loss.
How the main couple handles misunderstandings and disagreements - One aspect I really appreciated about this drama is how the main couple handles misunderstandings and disagreements in a fun yet mature way. In many romcoms, conflict resolution can become a turn-off when writers overdramatize issues or repeatedly use them as plot twists. Here, the conflicts feel light and natural, making the drama easy and enjoyable to watch.
What doesn’t work for me:
Pacing - The pace is quite slow, likely because the story is grounded and focuses on ordinary people navigating everyday struggles. While this focus gives the drama a realistic tone, it can feel particularly sluggish for viewers who are accustomed to dramas with strong twists or high-stakes plot developments.
Writing and impact - At times, the story feels a bit cringe, and I think the writing could have been more impactful. With stronger storytelling or more memorable moments, this drama could have stood out more instead of blending into the background.
Overall:
This is a suitable drama for viewers who want something light, comforting, and low-key, especially if you’re looking for a break from large-scale productions or intense plots. It’s not particularly memorable, but it’s an easy and fun watch because of the leads’ chemistry.

screaming 'high budget' in bold letters..
Quite an enjoyable plot in factdelivering better than what you expect of a typical wuxia/period drama plot. There is romance, comedy , suspense, crime investigation, family politics, business rivalry, Amnesia, contest participation, literally almost everything you can ask for. I loved the lead characters played by HMH and Gul , both are strong, inspiring, smart, calculating, kind but not innocently weak. HMH showed a bit different shade from what he usually does ..this time he is not playing the immortal upright personality but somewhat conniving and strategizing persona. Giving more of a punch to it Gul is playing an intellectual, bold and witty businesswoman. She is pulling that ice cold yet secretly caring poised look with brilliance.
Both leads have superb 'who-will- outsmart-the-other chemistry, which is honestly very refreshing cause at this point I am just bored of that cringe bubblegum romance.
Moving on to other people cheng xiao particular grabbed my attention i almost couldn't recognise her at first ..her looks, expressions and body language ..clearly she did a lot of work on that .. unfortunately they still had dub her voice.
Apart from that there is a long list of actors who are either very popular for their support roles or household names in the short drama fanbase.. Richard li, Zhao yi qin , Zhao jiamin, asher ma , teng ze wan, Zhao Zhao yi ,yu yin ..and there are so many who are yet make their appearances in the plot. I mean this is by far the best casting I have seen in any Cdrama, they must have spent a good budget on it.
Styling is unique, Looking inspired by the Mongolian and USSR fusion (when it was USSR) their attires , accessories and fur headpieces are so just so adorable. Clearly the styling dept has put real efforts here.
Moreover the aesthetic and detailing in the set designing, the soothing BGM and scenic tea plantations. Literally everything about this drama is screaming high budget.
Definitely a must-watch.

Misses a lot of major marks, but hits all the smaller ones.
What worked well:- They somehow got the detailing right. Humans taking human time to heal; the confusion of Dal Yi after she gains her memories and how she remains Dal Yi and doesn't transform into Yeon Wol all of a sudden; The tender or emotionally intense moments (backed by breathtaking music, of course); the moral blindness that comes with being consumed by revenge; wrapping all loose ends neatly.
- The chemistry between the leads. This is undeniable. It was so natural that I felt I was watching a real couple sometimes. You begin to root for them right from the start.
- It was a basic storyline, but they added the human nuace to it. People don't change easily, some don't change at all. The story was compelling in the way when life kept dealing them bad hands and they had to figure it out all over again. Great portrayal of "Where there is a will, there is a way"
What did not work well:
- The major fantasy element of fate was so over the head, it started out strong, but then just kept getting tangled up and it became harder to go along with. I get why they must have thought of the final twist the way they did but surely there could have been a better way.
- In the same vein, the writing was off here and there. It felt more obvious after the 10-11th episode mark.
- I really wanted to like Se Jeong's acting and there are moments when she shined, but I couldn't connect with it. She did well with the soul swap surely. But the goofy became too goofy, the happy became too happy.. If that makes sense. This is just my personal opinion though.
Overall:
This was a well acted, well executed but poorly written story. The saving grace came in the form of the acting, the visuals, and the music. Actors like Tae Oh, Jin Goo command the screen as soon as they enter the frame and it was great watching them. Se Jeong portrayed the sorrow, the pain and the somber moments beautifully. All the supporting cast did a good enough job as well. The writing would have taken this to another level surely, but this was a good watch nonetheless. Would I ever rewatch it? Probably not.

Somewhat of a disappointment
I know these rumors have been disproven before this drama aired, however it still was a disappointment. The story itself started very strong with EP1 being very fast paced and having a lot of plot. Watching "The Good News" kinda ruined this drama for me because there were just too many parallels and basically a copy pasted plot of a movie rushed in a single episode.
I came with huge expectations after being a fan of "The Drug King" and having rewatched it many times, as after all it still is an underrated movie that was its time ahead when it comes to crime, violence and political dramas. This drama proved why The Drug King is a masterpiece.
Made in Korea is the name of the product that helped the ML in The Drug King to work himself from rags to riches and it was a very nice plot. It should've deserved a 6 EP series instead of a rushed movie, this is what I actually expected when hearing Made in Korea drops, whereas I was hyped for it the entire year.
The way this story unfolds is just a huge disappointment and I have no visions or hope for it. After all, a second season was announced meaning we have to wait and are being left with an open plot once EP6 drops.
EP2 was very slow and the drop off from EP1 was kinda to be expected. Way too rushed and too much unnecessary plot just to introduce the ML. Perhaps it's just that Good News ruined it for me.
The only thing that saves this drama is really the cast because Hyun Bin is THE goat! I can't give it a bad rating because he is back. I would wish for a stronger female cast because it is pretty disappointing as of now as well.
I would really suggest to watch The Drug King, because I assume its suited for the same audience. Who would watch Made in Korea expecting a romantic drama? The Drug King objectively remains the top in its genre as of today.

Not a review....just a memory
It's been a couple of years since I watched My Mister and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't really want to commit to watching the entire series again, but every now and then I find myself clicking on episode 16 and heading towards the last couple of scenes, starting when the co-workers head into the cafe. From the moment she hears his voice until the last moment when they are walking away from each other on the street is my favorite kdrama clip. As much as I want them to have a happy future together, some things are just impossible and moments like these must be relished in the here and now for the joy they bring. Was this review helpful to you?
Was it good?
I’ll start out by saying that the male love interest’s acting is incredible and brought the story up from “cringy and stupid” to “I-actually-want-to-know-what-happens-next.”There’s a problem, though. You might be asking, “which male lead?” I’m asking the universe, PLEASE GIVE ME LESS MALE LEADS!! I’m not one for love triangles, and this story was a love pyramid. And the love pyramid was 🤢 and yet, it was what the whole story revolved around. So the worst part of the show was also the plot mechanism. In other words, that which was driving the plot, was actually ruining it - so much so that the drama would have been better without it. Yep, take 75% of the show out and you actually have something good. That’s how I would describe this drama.
However, this directive makes it really easy for those who don’t care about watching the whole thing ans just want to watch the good parts. Just watch the scenes with Taek Kyeon and you’ll have a stellar drama at your fingertips.

Perfectly Captured the Fluttering Feeling of First Love
We first have to thank Hashimoto for lending Aoki that eraser, the legendary eraser that started it all. While Aoki is the kindest soul, Ida must have been a saint in a past life; there isn't an ounce of malice in that man. I love that he didn't just reject Aoki’s "confession" right away; he sincerely considered his feelings before responding. The only thing I find hard to believe is that this was Ida's first time being confessed to. Seriously? With a face like that (Meguro Ren is a total hottie!), I would’ve been first in line!
Akkun initially infuriated me when he meddled and forced Aoki to the rooftop to come clean. He definitely deserved the slap Hashimoto gave him! However, his heart was in the right place, and he eventually made up for his mistake by being a true friend.
Aoki’s journey was a roller coaster ride of feelings, from the depression of realizing he had fallen for Ida for real, to the heartbreak of thinking he had lost him after coming clean. That scene where he sadly stares at Ida from a distance absolutely broke my heart.
The camping trip was such a fun episode. I loved seeing Hashimoto and Aoki’s bond, and even Ida and Akkun managed to bond for once.
My favorite moment has to be after the pretty manager left. Aoki was dribbling the ball while Ida watched from above. Seeing Ida finally become honest with his feelings while Aoki was already "in too deep" was beautiful to watch.
Credit where credit is due, Ida’s friend, Toyoda, is the real hero of this series. I love how he helped a clueless, "stupid-when-it-comes-to-love" Ida realize his feelings and gave him the push he needed to run to Aoki.
My Love Mix-Up! perfectly captured the butterflies of falling in love for the first time. It beautifully illustrated that you can’t choose who you love and that honest feelings always deserve to be heard.
This show is definitely my top comfort watch! Michieda Shunsuke perfectly captured Aoki’s chaotic energy, and Meguro Ren played Ida’s stoic-but-sincere nature so well.
The OST really is the cherry on top, having both Snow Man’s "Secret Touch" and Naniwa Danshi’s "Ubu LOVE" play at the end of different episodes made the vibes even more magical.

Great Start but Got Draggy towards The End
Fu Yixiao was a commander under Jinxiu’s First Prince, Prince of Zhennan Xia Jingshi, both being in love with each other and planning to get married. However at Battle of Pingling, right after FL secured a win for the Jinxiu by shooting the enemy’s general, the first Prince of Susha, Feng Suige right in the chest, FL went missing. It turned out she was shot down a cliff and hunted by assassins, at which she encountered Ling Xueying, daughter of divine physician Ling Feng, revered by both emperors of Susha and Jinxiu. Xueying brought her back for treatment, and while she was left to soak in the spring for recuperation, she met with ML who was sneaking in to recuperate in the pool. Due to a head injury during the fall, FL did not remember who she was and her life before, so ML took this chance to lure her into his trap by saying that they were friends. Once captured, ML tortured FL for revenge and intel as he believed Jinxiu had Susha’s people working as a spy. Unable to extract intel from her due to her amnesia, he brought her back to Susha under the pretense of a concubine. Meanwhile Xia Jingshi was frantically looking for FL when he heard she was spotted with ML. With the marriage arrangement between Susha and Jinxiu in return for peace, Xia Jingshi rushed to Susha under the guise of the bethrothal to Princess Feng Xiyang, when in reality he was determined to bring FL back with him to Jinxiu. As FL’s memories started to come back in bits and pieces, she realized there was a more sinister reason for her falling off the cliff, and eventually decided to work with ML to uncover the truth.I truly prefer seeing Li Qin as a badass character than those demure, soft ones (like Lin Waner in Joy of Life). So far I have only seen Song of Glory where he was also a badass there, and i loved it too. In here, I love how resolute and ruthless the FL’s nature is. She doesnt hesitate to pay back every single lash that she received during interrogation by the ML, very unlike some supposedly badass FL who conveniently forgets the torture they had been subjected to a few episodes before just because they was starstruck by him. And you know how when the high and mighty minister started to pull ranks and bicker with the ML and in most situations the young one had to concede to the old villainous minister? We can all get pure satisfaction from this show because our ML doesnt take no nonsense at all. He actually swung a fist at the old guy’s face when the old hag won’t budge. Pure satisfaction!
Although i liked the plot where they deviated from the trash novel’s, I couldnt fathom how childish the court politics theyve written. It is disappointing that ML had no vision of his future beyond avenging his mom, of how much the court and the kingdom would be thrown in turmoil after he got rid of the trecherous minister who also has ties to the royal blood and then refuse to ascend the throne as his father wanted. For a brilliant mind who had been tiptoeing around people who keeps trying to kill him growing up, he was sure damn short sighted and never planned ahead. As for the SML, how is he so naiive and stubborn in not treating Xiyang courteously even as nominal wife? He had no connection and power in Jinxiu’s court, how could it never crossed his mind that a good relationship with a princess that represents a foreign power who is also infatuated in him would add considerably to his advantage and road for revenge? All his life he was trampled upon and used beyond measure, subjected to countless humiliating situations all due to his lowborn status, and when he was scheming against the court for survival he thought he’d just toss off this foreign power backing just because he was in love with a commoner who had turned against him? How laughable. If ML was shortsighted and never planned ahead, then the SML is double triple that! I just got off the brilliant Nirvana in Fire so the political scene in Fated Hearts seemed practically kindergarten level, giving off how stupid the characters are written. They couldve made the plot more interesting with better scheming characters, but nope, they went with the dull and stupid plot instead.
And just when i thought the plot could not get any worse, then bam they proved me wrong. Who the heck buries corpses in the middle of a route? 🤣 even if it’s in the forest, it’s still in plain sight accessible by carriage. Truly a joke.
And what even more laughable is how characters could survive multiple sword slashes and strikes through the midsection and chest like theyre freaking Terminators. Gosh, they really pushed the odds to the limits with ML’s supposedly assassination and later Xiyang’s 🤣 basically the good characters will survive while the bad characters wouldnt survive even one strike of sword. Lame-ass writing.
Despite the cringy plot, I am impressed with Feng Chengyang, ML’s pure-hearted brother. At first i thought he would be easily manipulated by both his mom and grandfather, being the soft and crybaby that he is, but it turned out he changed drastically after assuming the throne. Now this is one of the brilliant and pure soul that the screenwriter didnt manage to botch. Honestly i think he would be a thousand times a better ruler than the dense and stupid Xiyang, like seriously.
Love the fight choreography. Love the songs. Love Sa Dingding’s cameo. Love FL’s badass character that stayed true to the end. Love all the lead and second lead casts, theyre all beautiful people that impressed me with their acting (of all the cast I am only familiar with Li Qin and Sa Dingding, and a few support roles that i regularly see in other shows), but somehow I had a hard time finishing the show as quickly as when i binge great shows before. Even the last episode it took me 2 days to finish. I even got sleepy during the final battle. I cannot explain it, maybe the cringy and draggy plot in the last 10 episodes got to me more than my love for the overall plot? Somehow they failed to keep my binge attention.

Can't wait for the new episodes!
It’s funny— I started 2025 watching Neo’s Fangs of Fortune, and it feels really fitting that I’m ending the year with another one of his series, The Unclouded Soul. I’m only 16 episodes in so far, and here’s what I’m loving:The cast, especially Seven and Neo as the leads. I’ve always admired Seven’s work and completely fell in love with her in Go Ahead. She consistently has great chemistry with her male leads, which is why I enjoy following her projects. I’m also not surprised to see Neo playing another Demon King—he fits these roles incredibly well. At this point, he might just be the king of playing Demon Kings.
One thing I really love about iQIYI dramas is their consistent CG style. The cinematography and color palette are absolutely beautiful.
The story hooks you right away—a flashback to an unforgettable love story between the leads, paired with a puzzling moment from the past that leaves you questioning what really happened and what was left unresolved. So far, I’m enjoying the pacing and where the story seems to be heading. Maybe it’s the cast, or maybe it’s how lighthearted the drama feels. After watching so many intense historical dramas filled with heavy politics and intricate details, this was a refreshing change of pace for me.
I also love how this drama reminds me of classic wuxia. It gives me vibes similar to Ashes of Love, Fangs of Fortune, Love Between Fairy and Devil, and Back from the Brink.
This is one series I cannot wait for the new release!! I hope this continues till the end! Currently this is a 8/10 for me!

would sacrifice my left pinky toe to watch all of these again (besides a boss and a babe, lmao)
I finally finished all of them, and here is my ranking of them, because I can do whatever the fuck I want. THE OST IS GEINUELY AMAZING, AND IT MAKES ME BEYOND HAPPY TO HEAR IT OMG FANTASTIC RIGHT OFF THE BAT. Before I start, just watch these because they are cute (most of them are at least) and it keeps the memory of the characters alive. The 1000th star: In first place, with a 9.5 out of 10, was the fantastic A Tale of Thousand Stars. So I loved this show, but it had some flaws. Of course, nothing is perfect. Nothing BESIDES THIS BEAUTIFUL OUR SKYY, I WOULD GIVE MY LIFE TO REWATCH THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME AGAIN. This was cute, it was fun, and it literally made me gush the entire time. Just a ball fest and it was fucking great. The ending was great, and I am a sucker for prospal at the end of BL. Also, Earth and Mix's chemistry was out of this world in this, and it was so perfect. The filming, the acting, the costumes, the makeup, it was genuinely fucking phenomenal, holy fuck. Fucking perfect (Jun 18, 2023).
Was it needed? No. Did I still want it? Yes, very much: In 2nd place with a 9 out of 10 was the Bad Buddy x A Tale of Thousand Stars, our skyy. Can you sense a theme for the top 3 Our skyy's? Lol. Bad Buddy is one of my favorite shows of all time, and seeing them and a tale of a thousand stars in a random fucking crossover that we really didnt need was perfect, and I had no idea how much I actually needed this. The jealousy was fun, and we were working on relationships for both of our couples. Pat and Pran were trying to help Tian and Phu, but in the process, they helped themselves, and I actually really liked that. They spent the whole thing doing bullshit, but they were free and having fun, and that is all that matters. I enjoyed this one, and because of that, it takes my number 2 spot (Jun 18, 2023).
This was so them: In third place, we have the bad buddy, our Skyy. This is one of my favorite Thai dramas of all time, and this our skyy did not come to play. They spent most of the time introducing the ones that follow it, but it was great. It was Pat and Pran being lovey-dovey and so cute, and I loved them. It is a shame that these two never really got their happy ending, because that had to break up or at least tell people that, but I love them to the ends of the earth, and this was a fucking blast (Jun 17, 2023).
Tinn in the streets, Gemini in the sheets: In 4th place is the my school president, our skyy. They flipped, and that's all you need to know. It's the show, but they changed roles, and it was perfect. It was funny and had the same charm that the original had, and that made me really happy. I can't lie to you. God, I love them so much, and I miss them. And we got the great song love love love, fucking fantastic, I love that song. This was funny, and I loved it. I think they should have done more with the ending, but that is fine. Loved it (May 20, 2023).
Nothing happened but overly affectionate tall skinny men: In 5th place, star in my mind. I like Joong and Dunk and thought this was cute. We had great chemistry, and they have grown so much as actors. Did anything happen besides joongdunk and cute moments? Nope, but it was fun, and I was studying for finals 2 years ago when I was watching this, so it was the energy boost that I needed. I would give my life for them, I can't lie (May 18, 2023).
Power is one hell of a drug: In 6th place, we have never let me go. I have been thinking about this so much, but I gave it an 8 out of 10 when I first watched it, so I may need to do a rewatch because I appreciate their chemistry more now. This is some random ass time traveling thing that has nothing to do with anything, but it was fun. It lowkey reminded me of vice versa in a bad way, and I dont know why. I think they put too many things out on the table and didnt really reach any of them, but yeah, that's fine (Sep 3, 2023).
Two unstable gays kidnap some kid: In 7th place, Vice Versa. I thought it was cute, but also very random, and I was just like What the hell. We didnt do anything, didnt work out our relationships, nothing, just messed around with this random ass kid lmao. They actually had real issues in this that weren't. Oh no, my boyfriend got stuck in the space-time continuum of my left ass cheek. "So basically, two gays rekindle their love in the house from the Kinnporsche Christmas Special with the help of Talay's best friends and Tup's sister's kid." They should have done more with the ending (Aug 9, 2023).
Not a lot but enough: In 8th place, we have the eclipse. I...I have no words. I dont know what we were doing, I fear. They have good chemistry, so this was rewatchable, but fuck. Just ten counts of fucking in my face. I don't like singing in dramas; it is terrible. Okay, yeah, this was a fun show to have on in the background (Jun 29, 2023).
The worst our skyy: In dead last, we have the boss and a babe our skyy. How could we somehow be worse than the actual show? I am truly impressed. The cute moments make up for it if the show or special is bad, this didnt have any. "This was just a whole bunch of nothing. This was just no. Like no. I love Force Book, but this show was already a hard watch and not even hard while watching, just a hard watch." Yeah (Nov 17, 2025).
My Ranking:
1. A Tale of Thousand Stars
2. Bad Buddy x A Tale of Thousand Stars
3. Bad Buddy
4. My School President
5. Star In My Mind
6. Never Let Me Go
7. Vice Versa
8. The eclipse
9. A Boss and a Babe
It got an average of 8.5 out of 10, and just watch them; this was just my ranking of them all in one area. Okay bye!

A Gentle School BL for the Right Audience !
This drama is **definitely not everyone’s type**, and that’s exactly why I appreciate it even more. Those who truly understood it and *felt* it—I respect you. Watching this was a genuinely wonderful experience for me. It’s a **school-love K-BL** with a very simple storyline, free from toxicity, chaos, or unnecessary disturbances. Just calm, soft emotions flowing naturally.I was **almost completely satisfied** with this drama. One moment I especially liked was when **Da-yeol left Tae-hyun for two years** after Tae-hyun disrespected him in the classroom. Honestly? Tae-hyun deserved that wake-up call. Da-yeol choosing distance instead of begging showed self-respect, and I admired that deeply.
Then, when Da-yeol said he would **wait for Tae-hyun**, it perfectly expressed his **selfless love**. That scene was quiet but powerful. Tae-hyun’s behavior was understandable—he had been abandoned by everyone he loved, and that kind of trauma doesn’t just disappear. Still, I wish he had at least shared his feelings with Da-yeol instead of shutting him out completely.
I say I was *almost* satisfied because something felt slightly lacking in their relationship. Their chemistry wasn’t entirely flawless—they could have been a bit more lovey-dovey or more emotionally considerate toward each other. That extra warmth would have made their bond feel fuller.
But even with that, this drama was **extremely relaxing to watch**. Calm, gentle, and emotionally safe. Most importantly, it was **absolutely my type**. I enjoyed it so, so much, and it left me with a soft, comforting feeling long after it ended.

A disappointing conclusion to 2025’s Kdrama lineup
This has not been a superstellar year for K-Dramas unfortunately (in my opinion), and this one wraps up the year in the same fashion. Our lead actors are amazing—so what went wrong?• Slapstick comedy — I love a romcom. I love a historical romcom. But slapstick jokes that feel ridiculous and out of place? Not for me. Unfortunately, “Moon River” has this in abundance.
• Body swap in the MIDDLE of the show — Okay, I’m not a huge fan of the body swap genre, but I gave this a try very open mindedly. But this was a crazy script choice. Why? It happens halfway through the drama. Not at the beginning. In the freaking middle. The show had started to come into its own, and then it takes a hard nose dive back into slapstick.
• Our second couple outshines the main — Tbh, while our two leads have great chemistry, they just didn’t do it for me. Our second couple? Oh my goodness. They almost were enough to keep me going.
“Moon River” has its strengths. It’s not an overtly bad drama. But, if I’m being honest, I can’t say it’s a good one either. 2026’s Kdrama line ups look amazing, so let’s hold out for January instead.
