Survive, Life, Lie. Samurai Is A Human. Always A Human.

A survival-jidaigeki series. Take a note, this is only a beginning of the story. This series is set during the final days of Samurai in a cholera epidemic. Centered on a man who is a former of Samurai and called 'Hitokiri (manslayer)'. He needs money to treat his family while cholera outbreak. A battle between his family's life or his inner trauma that never left.

An ode of surviving. Life for money. And money for life. Brutal, bloody, and bleak. Once they join, there's no way out. No matter of teaming up, nor even stand alone, blood gonna flood. The harsh truth of political intrigue that hiding behind the brutality of surviving that so called 'kodoku game'.

I'm beyond loving the action choregraphies in here. So tight, packed, yet well manage. The body control of each actors in here was utterly magnificent. The katanas dancing at its finest. Dare to say most of the actor have done well so it looks like they didn't use stunt double. Looks promising and realistic, by the way.

Not only by action performance, but the mimicking of every actor was undoubtful. I love their micro expression, especially Okada Junichi as the heroine. His attitude, his anger, his tremble hand, oh he just portraying his character as the best as he could. I knew it. Also the other actors too, even the cameos, bruh all of them are so good. Anyway, they did Takayuki Yamada's cameo screentime unbelievable, I scream for his scene, honestly.

The cinematography was peak cinema, peak beautiful. Like it should, Fujii-kantoku. The angle placement were masterpiece, oh I can't forget those bird's eye shots, the knee level shot. Precisely pretty. Also the lighting, those contrast, the intensity of light, just fit the best. Majestic. Oh unforgettable camera works, those shaky, zoom in/out, it's like we're dragged into those brutal combat with them.

The scoring, were bops. Also I love the way they serving 'silence moment' at the right scene, just give me goosebumps. Especially before the climax combat, oh define peak cinema.

All in all, I highly recommending this series, if you love hunger games, battle royale, combine with shogun, then you might love this. Let's watch it and wait the second part coming, guys! What a best experience I have while watching this! Don't miss this master-craft.

BL Punk Perfection

I don't know what I was expecting when I went into this drama, but all I know is that this drama has exceeded all possible expectations I could have possibly had for this drama.

What I Loved:

Fantastic music choices - Every single piece of music for this drama was thoughtfully chosen and used, which only made me appreciate this drama even more. It really matched the aesthetics of this drama.

Acting - The acting and chemistry between the main leads was fabulous. Special appreciated for AE's actor, because the way he managed to portray Enaga and AE so differently was amazing. They really looked and felt like two different people for me. Chiaki actor's acting wasn't any less either. The way he portrayed the awkward and introverted fanboy was very convincing. The tension and chemistry between the two leads were insane. Every time I saw them together, I couldn't help but blush.

Adaptation of the Manga - As someone who has read the manga, I can say that this is a fantastic adaption. 95% of the scenes were followed faithfully, with the exception of the explicit scenes, which is totally understandable.

Punk Aesthetics, Fashion, and a Unique Storyline - The punk vibe of this drama was honestly one of its strongest charms. From the color palette to the bold fashion choices, everything felt bold and intentional. The styling perfectly embodied the spirit of the original manga while giving the live-action its own personality. It never felt like the show was trying too hard. Most importantly, the storyline is refreshingly different from the usual BL tropes. It wasn’t afraid to be weird, messy, and unique. It balanced the fluff, tension, and vulnerability scenes in such a good way that I found myself completely obsessed with Chiaki and Enaga/AE world. The drama took creative risks, and every single one of them paid off.

Character Growth - Chiaki and Enaga/AE were compelling characters, and their growth was one of my fav parts of the drama. Chiaki started off as an awkward, introverted fanboy, but you can see him slowly gain confidence and learn to express himself as he spends more time with Enaga. Meanwhile, with Enaga/AE, watching him open up and let someone see the vulnerable parts of him (that are unlike his model persona) was very touching. Their development felt natural, and the way they helped each other grow made their relationship feel emotionally satisfying.

Overall, I would highly, highly recommend giving this drama a chance.

Poorly written skit

Linear events in non linear time loops is quite a heavy genre in itself no matter if the format is of a movie or a drama. But very few writers got the ability to do it right without messing it up and confusing the viewers... This one honestly didn't have that punch... It was so damn confusing almost a joy killer ... And the third grade actors in the side cast made it even more unbearable. Leads were trying to save it, but they couldn't save it for me at least.

sudden character shifts

Overall: note that this review and the series might be triggering regarding intimate partner abuse. My main issue was how multiple characters flip flopped and I couldn't trust them with one in particular who was abusive one minute and then super sweet the next. This is based on the web novel "Thundercloud Rainstorm" by Caesim, which I haven't read and I reviewed the series based on its own merits. 8 episodes about 30 minutes each. Aired on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/thundercloud-rainstorm-episode-1-1n404dlzgcg?lang=en_us ; GagaOOLala (available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and Europe (excluding Spain, Portugal, and United Kingdom)) and on Heavenly in South Korea.

Content Warnings: non con kiss, punch/beaten up, manhandling, coercion, intimate partner abuse, victim blaming, blackmail

Watch Suggestions (to focus on steamy & sweet)
- episode 1 watch 24:15-end
- episode 2 watch 9:40-10:30, 16:10-16:30, 25-end
- episode 3 watch beginning-15
- episode 4 watch beginning-15
- episode 5 watch beginning-9:15, 28-30
- skip episodes 6 and 7
- episode 8 watch 3:30-end which gives an overview and shows how the series ended

What I Liked
- chemistry (in the beginning, it fizzled a bit in my opinion)
- visuals
- that one character wasn't completely child-like (the kick in ep 3 was good, wish we saw more agency from him)
- one character had consequences off screen

Room For Improvement
- some choppiness especially in the beginning with time jumps
- a character's action in the beginning of episode 1 made no sense if I understood the timeline correctly, also they said he should have been in a ton of pain??
- the drunk and forget cliche
- Il Jo needed more agency
- inconsistent characterization, a character was cruel and the next second was in love, then abusive, then a sweet puppy and so on (it made it so I couldn't trust their nice side because the other side was always lurking around the corner)
- a character knew something terrible could have happened and then sat around for awhile towards the end of episode 4
- some night scenes were too dark, needed more light on the actors' faces
- noble idiot trope
- a character stayed trash thru the end and had zero consequences

Puppy Love In A Guilty Pleasure

A teenromance drama. Following girl who has a crush on a boy that she met on a train. Guess what? Sometimes, the fate seems funny, and has its own way to make them interact by only unimportant event, he stepped on her keychain. The story goes long between those two high-schooler.

The tale of guilty pleasure-romance. Yes, the fact that they normalizing the topic of loving someone's man is diabolical. Despite the story is around high-schooler which is a puppy love, but don't give an excuse to a cheating one, please. As long as the show runs, I keep feel guilty, but the other hand, I enjoying this lovey dovey story, not gonna lie tho.

The coming of age touch that light, cherish, and inspiring. Also, felt realistic and natural, clearly seems like any other Japanese craft. Japan and their realistic story, as always.

The performance of both heroine were good. I love their dynamic chemistry. How they portraying the clumsiness, the forbidden love, even their innocence have delivered well enough. Their subtle acting at its finest. Nothing exaggerate.

The cinematography was beauty. Also, I'm beyond loving the lighting, utterly magnificent, so aesthetic and warmth. I love that the color grading was perfectly fit with the lighting. Not too yellowish, but success to depict the warmth vibes. The Japanese scenery that always calming and greenish. The visual design that eyegasm. Also, I love the scoring. The piano tinkling that enhance the ambience.

Overall, if you craving for teenlit with quadrangle love, you might love this one. Every scene looks pretty aesthetic that I could capturing every piece of it. So good, but guilty pleasure.

Every Single Person Deserve A Justice

A historical, political kingdom, and revenge drama. Following a woman who has burried alive by her own husband. The one who she loved the most, turns out to be the one who she hate the most. She wakes up and start her revenge and seek for her own justice towards the unpleasant tragedy.

It's not only a tale of revenge and justice. Also, a tale of redemption and forgiving. Layering conflict that one by one got ripped. The political intrigue that emosional. Also, the brutal strategy that keep intense.

I love the way they highlighting the woman empowerment topic. Also, how the male lead standing up beside her and supporting her, not even interrupt every step she tooks. Big proud, that he provide everything she needs. Stay calm, but loyal. And the way they portraying a relationship, start from partner of crime, turns to be partner of life. From the pawn treatment, to a loving treatment. Oh that's my roman empire.

The performance of both heroine were good. The dynamic chemistry that they served was utterly solid. The male lead that cold yet charismatic, and the female lead that looks like cinnamoroll yet deadly. Kudos to every actor in here. Their acting were totalistic. Especially the main actress, her sadness, anger, ambition, also her pain were perfectly depict by her mimic. So detail yet painfull to watch. Like I could understand her feeling whenever she cried.

Not forget to mention the screenplay. I BEYOND LOVE IT. Layering conflict that packed and neat. Yes, it's a sluggish, slowest slow burn. But, never get bored because I love the way they serving 1001 strategies of revenge. Typically a story where heroine guaranteed win, but with that tons of cost, of course. Not heavy on plot armor tho, for me at least. Oh, it's mostly about political kingdom that much intrigue and confusing.

The romance that mature and barely do skinship, but only by a hand touch, I could scream out loud. Yes, slight romance that keep enhance the story. Expecting a good romance with much skinship? Then, it's not for you.

I love how they serving different kind of emotion in each episode. An episode that fulfill with laugh, tears, and proud. Bittersweet story that seizing me in. They served beauty in pain. So pretty that I could crying for their destiny.

The cinematography that beauty. Some scene looks colorful, and the other hand looks so painfully depth-dark. The camera movement was so cool, and angle placement were aestheticly fit. But, minus point for the CGI, some part looks rough. Not a bad tho. And then, the soundtrack, so good and mellow. I love that the BGM has enhance the story itself, perfectly fit for the scene.

All in all, If you craving for revenge and historical drama, I highly recommending this drama. Even the pace is slow burn, but the story itself will never be bored to enjoy. The way every revenge and every redemption have perfectly portray. One of the good historical drama I've ever watched. Just give it a try!

Addictive despite the mess

From the very beginning, the conspiracy plot felt weak and underdeveloped. The execution of FL’s mother solely based on a child’s testimony just wasn’t convincing. For such a serious crime, the lack of proper investigation made the foundation of the story feel unstable.

Then came the revenge plan, which honestly felt like it was written under a rush. Of all possible ways to destroy a man, she decided to become his concubine and sleep with him. The same man who, as a child, accused her mother and got her killed. Like… girl, when your father was murdered, the culprit didn’t seduce him first. Mind taking some lessons.

Just when I thought the plot couldn’t tangle itself more, boom, they drop the “they’re siblings” bomb. Then minutes later, nope, not siblings. By this point my brain was twisted into origami as the narrative had already lost clarity, especially when it was revealed she belonged to the same family that once accused her mother. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

Jiulin was, as expected, absolutely brilliant.l, Just in the right amounts ..not overdoing anything . The FL was new to me, but I can’t deny she delivered. Their chemistry? ⚡ ⚡. Their romance?💋💋. The love scenes?🔥 🔥

Overall verdict: yes it is messy, logic seemed undersupplied, And yet… somehow… despite all this chaos, i just couldn't drop it.. you might not be able to do it as well ...This show challenges the masochist in you. I kept rolling my eyes on screen , questioning the writer’s life choices, and still binged till the end.

Too Many Hot Guys, Too Little Time

Peach Trap (2025) is such a visual treat! First of all—what a handsome cast! It’s a love square setup, with three tall, hot guys all going after the short main character, and honestly it reminded me of my tall ex (haha!). It’s the kind of drama where you know people will get 2nd-lead syndrome because everyone is so likable.

The story itself is simple, but it’s the execution that hooks you. There are conflicts in the MC’s career and relationships, so you keep watching because you want to know who he ends up with, who he kisses, and how everything gets resolved. It’s surprisingly hard to choose a favorite because all the guys are appealing in different ways, like the colors of the rainbow!

The visuals are gorgeous. The cinematography, angles, lighting—everything feels premium. Even the transitional scenes stand out, showing off nature, food, the city… it all adds to the vibe. The music and OST are superb too, and the sound effects gave me a good laugh.

Overall, it’s charming, fluffy, easy to watch, and full of chemistry. If I were the MC, I don’t know how I’d pick either—how to choose when everyone is that attractive? Haha! A fun watch.

What even was that ending

I'm sorry but no, why end it like that.
The start was strong, the story was decent but you
decide to end it like that?
Nope, absolutely not. I don't mind being heartbroken because of a series. But how can you move on after only 3 months. It was like Kor and Siwat barely meant anything to the group.

And suddenly there is a new Siwat and everything is okay??
Nah man, let's hope the cast gets a new series because they have potential but not like this.

Super cute fluffy romance!

I have never laughed so hard at a drama before. If you are looking for a super cute light and fluffy romance that will have you laughing out of your seat then this is it. If you're looking for something with a lot of depth of the characters or storyline this is not it. This is a feel good lift you up laugh out loud romance.

I just have to add this in here though. The only thing the ml had going for him was his lips and cute smile. He still lived with his parents, his mom did his laundry, and you never actually see him do any work at the office but he wants to be ceo. Weird haha.

A Simple and Slow Life Drama

My 4 categories are Acting/Cast, Writing, Direction/SFX/Music, Entertainment Value.

I’ve been wanting to watch this drama for a while now. I went in blind. For some reason I thought it would be a bit more exciting than it was.

Acting/Cast: The cast is good as well as the acting. I guess my big issue here is just that the main character played by Bae Suzy [배수지] is a stoic character. I usually don’t like those types of leads. It’s rare that an actor can pull off a stoic character well, as it’s difficult to play it in a way that keeps the stoicism from boring me. I would say that this stoicism was more on the boring side for my taste. I had a hard time connecting with her character; she felt distant and robotic. I watched this drama after watching Genie, Make A Wish (another drama in which Bae Suzy plays a stoic character). I much more preferred her performance in Genie, Make A Wish. 5.5/10

Writing: The message behind this drama seems to be about the problems regarding nepotism and classism in South Korean society. Although I understand that, the story itself isn’t very interesting. Nothing really crazy happens except maybe at the end, but even that wasn’t too dramatic. Whenever I thought the drama was going to go in an interesting direction, it didn’t. It’s just a story about a girl’s life...a really depressing life where nothing ever goes her way. The side characters weren’t fleshed out, especially the real Anna. I was surprised by how little she actually appeared in the drama. The main villain of the drama arrived a little late to the party. I didn’t feel as though I knew him well enough to fully appreciate his ultimate fate. 2.5/10

Direction/SFX/Music: Something exciting was finally happening at the end of the drama. It was as though the build up throughout the entire drama was about to explode. But my anticipation was met with bad CGI. Even worse, it was completely unnecessary CGI. Why? Why was The Hunchback of Notre Dame suddenly being used as an allegory for the drama? It seemed to come out of nowhere. From what I understand, The Hunchback of Notre Dame has more religious connotations—gypsies and witchcraft versus a corrupt government/church. This drama has no religious connotations or even lust towards the female lead (aside from the very beginning). The story seems pretty simple to me, so trying to attach a deep meaning felt futile. 5/10

Entertainment Value: This drama had a hard time holding my attention. I was hoping for a twist or a dramatic climax, but the drama just kind of fizzled out. 1.5/10

Overall, I gave this drama a 3.5/10 which puts it in the “Probably a waste of time” category on my scale. It’s a very simple story of an unfortunate woman’s life. Even though the drama centers around her, I still felt like I wasn’t able to really get to know her. Also, the ending wasn’t cathartic enough for the long build up.

The logic in this (if there was any) just left the chat.

I mean , it was a good start. They presented the characters pretty well and each of them had a predominant characteristic. So far, so good. Things start to get ugly when Doha starts to feel confused about his feelings (pretty normal right) BUT WHY IN EARTH THE END GAME WAS HIS BFF??? He manipulated him, harassed him, and even went violent just because¿???? I repeat myself, where is the logic?!?! What do this show want to promote? That we should stay with someone who is toxic and put his feelings over mine?! And then the coffee shop owner, he was another violent guy and even hid doha's phone to keep him out of reach, like¿????? The right chose is and will be the team manager. Don't watch this if you can't keep up with irrationality.

No woman (no one really) deserves this

Let's be honest: If Hae Jo was played by Oh Jung Se (or any other non-conventionally attractive actor) and not Woo Do Hwan, NO ONE would have perceived this story as anything close to romantic

When I started it, I genuinely thought that it'd be a great drama. One of the best of 2024, however, everything was ruined by the romance btwn Hae Jo & Jo JaeMi. It was the textbook definition of a toxic love with a toxic, selfish, and cruel man. Hae Jo is not only horrible to the supposed love of his life, but also utterly horrible to his adoptive mother/older sister.

Maybe they were trying to frame this as he has a hard time expressing his feelings, so you need to look beyond what he says to see what he really means, but that's a heck no for me. I would not want a person who uses my insecurities to hurt me, -simply because they are going through something or they are trying to save me from themselves -, in my life.

He insulted JaeMi in such cutting ways and abandoned her much too much. He also ruined her potential love life for selfish reasons, knowing he was going to die. And to reiterate, he was also really crappy to his adoptive mother/older sister. Basically, he is a shit man who ruined the show for me

The only positive here is that Eo Heung & Jae Mi didn't get married. Jae Mi didn't love that man, and Eo Heung, while he did love her, his reasons for wanting to marry her were wrong. I'm glad (for him) that they went their separate ways. It allowed him to finally get under his mother's thumb, stand up for himself by himself, and find himself

A solid watch

Wasn't that great. The plot was all over the place and there was little coherence to the overall themes. But for a short series, it's impressive enough and the actors are talented, the story is compelling despite being frustrating at times (like at one point it just felt like we are told han dao & yan shiyi are smart but they just sum everything up as "everybody's a suspect" which is just not very smart also overall the writing could've been better). BUT the reason I've rated this 7 and not 6. Is because of the happy ending 😭 like this so refreshing. SO REFRESHING. In all the cdramas I've watched, if two girls or two boys have queer subtext, then they're doomed to die, kill each other, or suffer immeasurably or have a very ambiguous ending. Sure, in Blades amid Blossoms MANY people die but at the very least the sismance + bromance survive. Which is shocking. Verily so.

comece a ver o qto antes
