My review to this film

I have just finished this masterpiece and Oh, I'm so in love with it. It has been a long time since I've watched such a good movie, which is almost flawless from every aspect, the plot, the character, the story line, the actors and the acting too. It's all very good and well-developed, which makes me wonder why this masterpiece is not that widely regconized and popular, compared to other overrated BL series. The main the reason that I can probably think of is the strict censorship from Chinese film industry, which has hindered the widespreadness of this film. But this movie is totally underrated, and I would say I highly reccommend this series.

Most Useless ML Ever

The female lead’s brilliant performance is the only flicker of life in this otherwise dead-on-arrival drama.

The male lead is a disgrace — a sniveling, spineless, brain-dead caricature masquerading as a protagonist.

He spends every moment either sobbing, dithering like a coward, or being led around like a clueless pawn. No strength, no intelligence, no presence — just dead weight dragging the entire story down.

His acting is so wooden and lifeless, it’s an insult to the very idea of a male lead. Watching him stumble through the show feels like being forced to suffer the worst humiliation.

Puzzle Pieces.

Well, well. This is unexpected. I watched it on a whim when I felt that 'The Demon Hunter's Romance' was taking a trip downhill, and it served it's purpose well.

During the summer, Xiao Zhi is invited to an island as an assistant for the kids at camp. Having a constant push and pull relationship with his brother; he meets Chen Li, his brother's classmate who shows him around the island and takes him on mini-adventures. In the process, a secret relationship develops between the two.

The story can be 'VERY VAGUE' and you have to observe the characters' facial expressions and body language to connect the dots. Or else you'll be staring at nothing except some excellently filmed scenes which can be your next wallpaper.
It also seems to have purposefully hidden certain scenes or showed another perspective of them -- a rather clever move. But, hey! I knew Xiao Zhi liked Cheng Li; but if they hadn't shown those scenes later, I would've assumed that it was a one sided crush.

Chen Li was the hidden character for me; Xiao Zhi was the one whom I felt bad for, particularly at the end of EP6. Both of their performances combined made this drama a worthy watch.

A good palate cleanser -- the storyline was disconnected and jumped around during the last half, which is why this isn't getting an 8 from me and why me review is titled as such.
But, it also depicted some harsh realities of life in a limited time, so it's a 7.5/10.

The Traumatised Village.

Gannibal's second season can be watched as a direct continuation of the first as it starts right from where the first one ends.
And mind you. The entire story takes place within a span of one night and a whole day.
Rather than focussing on the mystery or build-up, we are 'shown' or told what had taken place straightaway. It's unflinchingly disturbing and dark, but was worth sitting through till the end.

I'll write down my jumbled thoughts here:

☆ The second season brings along everything that I loved from the first -- stellar performances by the cast, even more so in this one, (particularly the actors for Goto Keisuke, Yosuke, Iwao, Kuroe and Gin who had more scenes and importance) ; convincing and nauseating horrific scenes combined with unexpectedly emotional moments.

☆ Characters: one of the highlights would be Goto Gin, aka, the half-eaten grandmother through whom the Gotos were introduced to us in the first season.
Well, she is a character you have to watch. Her past and the point where all hell breaks loose are vividly described and portrayed. It's highly disturbing. And I'm not kidding about it.
Themes of sexual assault, rape, cannibalism, gaslighting, etc are all an integral part of this season.

While I admire Goto Gin as an individual character whose sole purpose was to somehow keep herself alive through any means, I absolutely despice her actions and think that she got exactly what she deserved in the end.
She just had to become Tantai Jin 1.0 instead of showing an ounce of empathy.

☆ In a very twisted way, I can understand why the villagers are how they are. To me, they weren't crazy. And even the final episode and the scenes depict the extent of the impact the Goto family had on them.
Keisuke and the remaining younger generation (including the villagers) were the focus of the second season and they did not disappoint.
I was very surprised to know that Nagata Takato was a part of the cast as I was unable to recognize him.
It was also unexpectedly emotional, particularly the end of EP7, where I legit had goosebumps.

☆ As for Agawa Daigo... His character was the most 'human' of them all. Yes, his enraged actions led to a chain of events that ultimately ended up with terrible consequences (although, to me, it was for the best), but in the end, he is ultimately a character I respect. (Hats off to Yagira Yuya, whose performance I had slready noted in the first season.)

All in all, it was a bittersweet journey for me. Strange, but nevertheless, memorable.

To be honest, the story isn't that interesting. It really just illustrates what a simple misunderstanding can cause—eight years wasted over something so trivial. Additionally, it lacks those heart-fluttering moments I was hoping for. However, I do appreciate how they depict both characters' points of view. I’m not sure what will happen in the upcoming episodes, but I hope the story improves.

This drama is actually recommendable

I was actually recommended this drama by some1 and also when I watched first two episodes I just felt like it's okayish I found some scenes funny but right now I am watching it so I can't judge it quickly I'll update my review after watching it fully. The side character is a little annoying he gets excited over every thing but let's not judge him fully I'll again update my review after watching the whole drama and I genuinely loved the female lead she is so funny. I loved both of their families.

THE REALISTIC RAW CHAOTIC MESSY YET REWARDING PATH TO BEING A DOCTOR!

"Resident Playbook" plunges us into the high-stakes world of first-year OBGYN residents, offering a raw, unfiltered look at their demanding journey. The series doesn't shy away from the chaos, anxiety, and the occasional loss of passion that define those early years. Instead, it uses these challenges to highlight the residents' growth, the dismantling of biases, and their transformation into the seasoned doctors we all admire.

"Resident Playbook" offers a refreshing perspective on the medical drama genre. Unlike its predecessor ( Hospital playlist) which focuses on the lives of seasoned doctors, this spin-off delves into the formative years of these medical professionals. The series masterfully captures the raw, unfiltered experiences of first-year residents, showcasing the challenges, anxieties, and lack of motivation they face.

The narrative shifts from the polished expertise of established doctors to the chaotic and often messy reality of those just starting their careers. It provides a glimpse into the roots of the skilled physicians we admire, revealing their initial struggles and the hurdles they overcame. The series emphasizes the growth and development of these characters, highlighting their journey to overcome biases and become seasoned doctors.

With a new cast and a distinct thematic approach, "Resident Playbook" distinguishes itself from other medical dramas. It offers a compelling narrative that resonates with viewers, making it a must-watch for anyone interested in the medical field.

The series excels in showcasing the characters' journeys, growth, and development, a key element woven throughout each episode. Every episode presents the residents with new challenges, highlighting their learning process through mistakes and triumphs. This structure effectively tracks their progress, making their character arcs engaging.

The narrative embraces the complexities of human development, avoiding a straightforward path. Characters experience both forward steps and setbacks, creating a relatable cycle of learning and growth.

An overview of the characters includes;

Oh Yiyoung, a compelling and relatable character in "Resident Playbook." Initially portrayed as a nonchalant and emotionally distant woman, Yiyoung's journey is one of profound transformation. She begins her residency with a lack of passion, driven more by obligation than a genuine desire to practice medicine. This disinterest is evident in her interactions and actions, making her feel distant.

As the series progresses, Yiyoung faces a series of challenges and realizations that force her to confront her apathy. Her character development is marked by moments of wanting to quit, but her journey unveils numerous facets of her personality. She demonstrates a helpful side, an ability to own up to her mistakes, a willingness to learn and grow, and a newfound compassion for her profession.

Yiyoung's character is a mirror to many of us today, her relatable dialogue and complex personality make her a joy to watch. Her chaotic and funny moments add depth to her character, making her a memorable and engaging figure in the series.

Pyo Namkyung, a standout character, embodying a friendly and caring nature. She also has a strong sense of style, often clashing with the demands of her OBGYN residency. This internal conflict adds depth to her character, as she navigates the challenges of her profession while staying true to herself.

Namkyung's interactions with her patients are heartwarming, showcasing her compassionate side. Her willingness to embrace her flaws and strive for improvement is a key aspect of her character arc.

Overall, Namkyung leaves room to grow, making her a relatable and inspiring figure. Her dedication to her patients and her personal growth make her a memorable character.

Kim Sabi, an AI-like character, is defined by her high IQ but initially lacks emotional intelligence. She approaches problems with a textbook-focused mindset, believing that all solutions can be found in academic texts. However, her residency marks a turning point as she realizes that real-world situations often require more than just theoretical knowledge.

Sabi's journey involves developing empathy and understanding the nuances of human interaction. While staying true to her core self, she works on personal growth, recognizing the importance of emotional intelligence in her field.

Additionally, Sabi's competitive nature is evident, but she learns that being first isn't always the priority. This shift in perspective makes her a compelling character, illustrating her development and adaptability within the medical field.

Um Jaeil, the former K-pop idol, provides comic relief while embodying a sunshine and caring personality. Despite his hard work, things don't always go his way, which adds to his relatability.

Jaeil's compassionate nature shines through, and his willingness to learn from mistakes and collaborate with others makes him an interesting character.

Overall, Jaeil's positive attitude and growth throughout the show make him a valuable addition to the cast.

Go Dowon, a fourth-year resident and chief supervisor, embodies maturity and consideration. He is level-headed, intelligent, and skilled in his field, yet remains approachable.

Dowon's friendly demeanor and guidance provide a supportive anchor for the first-year residents. He helps them learn from their mistakes and find solutions, making him a valuable mentor.

Overall, Dowon's character brings balance and expertise to the show, contributing positively to the narrative.

The series incorporates romance, which enhances the viewing experience without overshadowing the core plot. It's a youth drama, and the inclusion of romance adds excitement without dominating the narrative.

The primary focus remains on the OBGYN department, exploring diverse challenges, patient stories, friendships, and personal growth. This slice-of-life approach, though initially slow-paced, becomes increasingly engaging.

The show masterfully blends chaos, comedy, realism, and emotional depth. This balance ensures a captivating and well-rounded viewing experience that resonates with viewers.

In conclusion: Unlike some medical dramas that focus on established professionals, this series delves into the origins of these admirable doctors. It offers a raw look at their beginnings, showcasing the chaos and messiness of their early careers.

This journey requires patience and understanding, promising a mix of humor and frustration. The experience of watching "Resident Playbook" is ultimately rewarding.

It's a journey worth undertaking, offering a unique perspective on the medical world and the characters' evolution.

The Legend of the Blue Sea, a romantic and fantastical journey

The Legend of the Blue Sea is an excellent drama! Overall, this drama is excellent! It's a pleasure that the drama took the risk of filming elsewhere than South Korea, namely on the island of Palau, in the Pacific, and in Spain. It's very successful! The plot is very well developed, with a mix of romance, fantasy, comedy, and cliffhangers. As for the characters, the duo of Joon Jae/Kim Dam Ryeong and Cheong, played by Lee Min Ho and Gianna Jun/Jun Ji Hyun, is one of the drama's biggest strengths. Actress Gianna Jun is MAGNIFICENT and is one of my favorites, both as an actress and in the drama! As for Lee Min Ho, he confirms that he's still an excellent actor! Besides, the six-year age gap between the two actors/actresses didn't bother me either. Otherwise, I also became attached to the other characters, namely Si Ah (Shin Hye Sun), Tae Oh (Shin Won Ho) and some guests who appear in only one episode, notably the flight attendant Mun Ji (Kristal) and the young mermaid (Kim Seul Gi). In terms of the OST, it perfectly matches the atmosphere of the drama. Everything you need to definitely love it. In short, it's pure happiness!

Spy, a spy drama that turns into a drama

Spy is a good drama. Overall, I like this drama, with a hint of City Hunter and Healer, but not as good. Indeed, the plot is not developed and it is especially poorly exploited with the mixtures of romance, family affairs, political issues and especially action. Even if the events follow one another quite quickly, all of the elements mentioned above lack naturalness and credibility. Concerning the characters, the duo Sun Woo and Yoon Jin, played by Kim Jae Joong and Ko Sung Hee, is cute but nothing more. Despite everything, I became attached to the other characters, namely Jo Su Yeon (Chae Su Bin) and No Eun Ah (Ryu Hye Young). In terms of the OST, it fits well with the atmosphere of the drama. In short, it is a disappointment and there is a way to do much better and more ambitious things.

2nd season goes full "webtoon" fictional mode which degrades all brutality

I liked the first season. It was dynamic and brutal.
The second season was a complete garbage in comparison. I was waiting and waiting for the same action from the 1st season... but it was never delivered.
My biggest disappointment was how much more unrealistic it became. And when it is so unrealistic - it degrades and diminishes all brutality. What do I mean by that? I mean that if you see how someone hits other person's jaw with a metal knuckle many times with a full force and that jaw remains intact - where is brutality then? Or if someone hits an opponent many times with a metal knuckle into leg bone and then that opponents makes a strong kick by that lag - it is ridiculous. Is it a parody now? In the 1st season if objects were used in fight they caused injuries and it made it brutal. The second season lacks this - now it is a parody show.

ML is also a complete disappointment. The entire season he speaks as a slowpoke. According to authors it should represent mental trauma, but this shit gets annoying/irritating over time.

In the send I skipped the huge parts of it. For me the show was a complete disappointment because I expected something like season1, but got some weak parody of it.

they could have shorten this drama. cannot finish it

main points:
dragged plot.
acting is okay,
nonsense long flashback of their lovestories.
no value added scenes.
"assumptions killed opportunities".

personal opinion:
i came to watch Arthur Chen.
i just dont like actress/ actor that only good/ shown in one side of angle (i feel sabrina angle only good on her dimple side (left) so most of her scene captured on this side. plenty of actress are like this. so not my cup of tea.
disclaimer: also im not an avid watcher, came to watch good scenes, nice to look at actors/actress, catching plots and usually i like it when conflicts started from episode 1 or existing.

Not enough thrill for a thriller drama!

I will start with what I loved about the drama, simply what carried me through the drama. Yes! It’s the main lead couple’s fiery chemistry!! They looked amazing togather and carried every different dynamic of their relationship well. Chemistry was chemistying but was that enough? No!!! Absolutely not.. The overall concept was good but the execution of the story seemed weak to me.
For instance the identity of the caller 604 could’ve remained unknown to Saeon for longer and they could’ve made it more fun and thrilling. I feel like the use of 604 was limited. And it was the only interesting part of the show soo they could’ve engaged with this element longer.. The reason I am saying this is because there was nothing much to the story to keep the thrill going.

Saeon was president spokesperson but he had no security after work !!!! The character’s secrets weren’t that big of a mystery as it should’ve been. Baek Saeon was adopted and not the real son was also revealed quite early in the show. The same with heejo’s fake muteness. It was revealed too soon. The only mystery was the deal behind the two families and that didn’t surprise me that much either. Simply put the family secret that they made such a big deal outta weren’t that big or crazy to make the audience go woahhh.
And finally the fact they Saeon loved her ever since they were kids and actually wanted to marry her but still tormented her for 3 years is wild. It didn’t set well with me. How come he let her suffer for 3 whole years if he really loved her!!!
Overall the story was quite weak for a mystery thriller and there weren’t as many thrilling factors in the show as there should’ve been.

Good kdrama

The story has some substance that elevate it from other dramas of the same genre. A little comedy and a little mystery wrapped up together. Could have been better in some areas? Yes, but it's not a bad watch at all. The acting of the main "couple" and of the villain are a definite highlight. A race of good vs evil while on a treasure hunt.

You don't know what you are talking about !

Anything under 9 is an insult to this amazing second season. It is so good. A very nice follow up on season 1. Watching it back to back make the whole thing a fantastic drama. I cried, I laugh and I fell in love with those characters. It's dark, yes. Like in the webtoon. But I have to say that Netflix did a very good job. What I don't like, an ending that make us want more without them signing for another season. If it's cancelled, the ending would be a bad ending. But if they do a last season, It would be fantastic!!! Hope it wont take 3 years... The actors are starting to look like adults now!!!
