I AM SEATED

Just by watching the trailer, I know am in for a RIDE but guess what ??

I

AM

SEATED
This is going to be so good. Can't wait for Episode 04.
The novels covers some heavy topics so be aware of the trigger warnings if you want to watch the drama or read the novel.
On the surface, he’s a modest gentleman—warm, compassionate, and unmatched in tenderness.

But beneath it all, he’s dark, unhinged, greedy, and lecherous.

NOT ALL ROMANCE DESERVES HAPPY ENDING

I love the MC. That man is the only reason why this series was good. I love when people don't take shit. I love when people stand up for themselves. I love when you call the bullshit on someone. I love when you tell yourself hell no. The scene where he was SA'd by the ML and he made sure to find who did it stuck with me. He is so different from the characters I was used to. I love the ending where ML changes, though, personally, I WILL never accept such person back, like never and I think that's supposed to be the realistic ending.

An intense, painful, toxic, but beautiful love story

PLOT: Fan Xiao, heir to a Thai conglomerate who has returned to China, leads an unstable life following a trauma (tsunami + death of his mother + toxic family) that has given him a very bleak view of the world. During a car accident, he meets Shu Lang, the director of a pharmaceutical company, who leads a seemingly perfect life (gay, in a relationship, and under control). Fan Xiao wants to disrupt this "Buddha" and tries to draw him into a relationship (all means are fair game), but ends up falling in love himself.

+++ The two actors are FANTASTIC, brilliant. Hao Yi Ran and Yun Qi (very young but with a promising future) are subtle, intense, and have incredible chemistry.
+++ The production is top-notch (lol), both technically (lighting, framing, sets, costumes, etc.) and in terms of pacing and storytelling. The story is coherent: "healing romances" are a dime a dozen. But how can two people who are deeply wounded, toxic, and calculating interact and heal each other when they are both so badly hurt?
+++ The other actors are talented, but the viewer is so engrossed in the relationship between these two Red Flags that the other characters serve only as background.
+++ Excellent OSTs

No Flaws!!

=> An addictive, intense BL that's hard to leave behind. Why isn't there a special episode? I can't wait to see Hao YiRan and Yun Qi in other series...

An intense, painful, toxic but beautyful love story

+++ Très bonnes OSTs

No Flaws !!

=> Une BL addictive, intense, dont on a du mal à quitter les personnages. Pourquoi n'y a-t-il pas d'épisode spécial ? J'ai hâte de revoir Hao YiRan et Yun Qi dans d'autres séries ...

at first it was bad, then less bad (but still bad), then really bad.

Pretty early on it because clear that the writers were writing themselves into a corner. Instead of getting out of the corner while they still had a clean way out, they decided to go as far into the corner as they could and then start digging at the wall because they apparently weren't cornered enough.
I understand that they did it on purpose, but it made the story so rigid and stiff. They could barely do anything with the story so far into the corner they had written themselves, which make the story boring and stale and like it was just going in circles.

The story felt so dragged out. It could've easily been half the length (maybe even a third of the length) and still not lose any plot.
Finishing this show felt like running a marathon, just without the adrenaline and endorphins that makes is actually enjoyable.

There were a lot of scenes that felt like thay came out of the blue. Like how did we even get here, and why do we even need to be here in the first place.
Some of the scenes started out feeling like they were flashbacks, but then they weren't. And when there where flashbacks, it wasn't always easy to find out where on the timeline it is.

There were a lot of characters and dynamics/history to keep track of with each character. I personally had a difficult time to keep track of who is who, and why they did what.
I admit that it might just be a me problem, but I'm usually not that bad of keeping track of characters. So if you know that you aren't good at keeping track of characters, then good luck lol.

When I went to write this review, I was genuinely so surprised to see how high others have rated it.
I usually really enjoy this type of show, and I normally like manipulative/scheming characters even when they aren't that well written, but I just couldn't get myself to enjoy this show.

I did actually like how complex the characters were written, and how they actually felt like three-dimensional characters. I just don't like the story they decided to make with those three-dimensional characters.

I genuinely enjoyed the acting and thought that the acters were good at their job.
I feel like in a lot of bl, they have a tendency to cast acters because they are hot, and not because they can actually act. Luckily it didn't feel like they did that here.
It felt like there were genuine emotions in each scene, and both the tears and the smiles of the characters felt real. There where also actually some chemistry between the main couple.

Final verdict:
I personally really didn't enjoy this show, but I can see some positive aspects to it.
If you think you'll like it, then go ahead and give it a try. But I'm warning you: it doesn't get better.

if you enjoyed secret relationship , revenged love, Abo desire.. just give this a chance

This series is pure morally dark BL perfection.
Fan Xiao is operating on an entirely different psychological level; every manipulation, every calculated silence, every lingering touch feels deliciously intentional. The way he plays with everyone’s emotions is so twisted yet so captivating. It’s impossible not to fall deeper into his mind games.

And the actors? Phenomenal.
They’re carrying the entire emotional weight of this story with such precision that even the smallest gestures feel loaded with meaning. The tension between the leads is insane; quiet, sharp, addictive.

Also, I never thought I’d say this, but the cigarette scenes deserve an award on their own. The way the smoke curls around him, the way he holds it, is Dangerous, seductive, almost symbolic of the whole show’s atmosphere. It’s criminal how sexy it looks.

I am absolutely hooked on this emotional rollercoaster. Every episode pulls me deeper into the chaos, the angst, the obsession.

China really came out swinging with this one. Go China, go.

A Good One But First Throw Away Your Moral Compass

I want to say CBLs are notorious for making shows with morally grey characters, but you probably already know that too…

Now, about this show? It’s not in any way a bad watch but I won’t call it a show for everyone.

If you love fluffy, cute, sweet, morally right…type of BLs, then please don’t bother with this one. The story is complex, dark, and not fluffy.

HOWEVER, if you want something that will keep you watching and characters that (will) know how to sway each other; this is the one!

The characters in this story are what I’ll call - good for each other.

It’s just two episodes in (I’ll edit this review as I watch) but so far the story is suspenseful and I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds.

If you want to watch it, then don’t hesitate, just do and see for yourself!

Unsettling, intense, and emotionally exhausting

To My Shore explores a relationship that is openly unhealthy, claustrophobic, and rooted in emotional dependence rather than stability. It never romanticizes this imbalance, but instead leans into how uncomfortable and consuming it is, which makes the story feel raw and strangely real. The chemistry between the leads is strong, especially in the beginning, where tension and attraction drive the narrative forward. Even when the writing falters and their bond feels hard to rationalize, the actors manage to sell every moment. Watching it put me through a mix of emotions, from tenderness to anger and deep frustration, which says a lot about the performances. The main weakness lies in the attempt to soften such a dark dynamic with a more reassuring ending, an approach that doesn’t fully land. Messy and manipulative at its core, this is a demanding watch, but one that stays with you precisely because it refuses to be comfortable.

The GENIUS direction, camera work & ACTING

Episode One - The very first scene sets the groundwork for exactly what Fan Xiao (FX) is. Brilliant light play by the director honestly - there's this gritty metallic green light falling upon half of his face while the other half lies in a warm shadow, giving him an air of mystery and palpable danger. Loved this, and actually light play is also used again in later scenes. Like when FX and YSL are at a restaurant - the lighting is warm and hazy, signifying intimacy. Often low budget bl productions don't even bother removing the day time filters.

Episode Two - Absolutely loved the acting because every time FX is on screen is really intense. It might be a bit cringe but that's just how he is and we love him for that. Again, camera work goes crazy in framing FX just as he is. And curiously - FX is only framed as scary or intimidating when we see the scene from his perspective rather from from YSLs when he's framed as ordinary. Even soft, in one scene.

(to be continued as episodes come out)

A Dark Toxic Ride You Can’t Look Away From

I don’t even know what’s worse than a black flag, because Fan Xiao (the character, not the actor) is way beyond that. This drama is so toxic that I could literally feel it through the screen. I had to pause multiple times just to breathe. It almost felt like I was experiencing the emotional turmoil myself. Honestly, I wouldn’t wish what Shu Lang went through on anyone in real life.

The storytelling can feel a bit messy at times, with certain scenes jumping around, so you do have to piece things together on your own. It’s not always smooth, but it still manages to pull you in.

I really wish we got more green flag moments in their relationship, but if you’re into intense, possessive love with a darker edge, and yes, some steamy scenes, this drama delivers.

For a first project, Yun Qi did an amazing job. I’m genuinely impressed and excited to see more from him. And I really hope this pairing reunites in another drama, because the chemistry is definitely there.

So boring

I don’t like the story at all, it feels like nothing going on here just casual life. 3/4 of the two first episodes are just business meetings which are really boring and not important at all. I don’t like the main pair I don’t feel any chemistry between them, there’s more chemistry with Zhen but from what I saw & read he won’t be the main couple here. Completely wasted my time on that. Maybe it’s just me but I just don’t really like this one, it’s been so long since I’ve been this mad over drama

This is one series where the writers are consistent, and the story don't have those chlichees , you find in BL , the story is unique it follow the line of dark romance story, in unique way.
Actors are unbelievable vey good, they truely put they emotions to play ,is so good to the point of being attached to their characters.

started it good, but fell off

Toxic series of the year! It started with much potential, and fell off but to be fair the story itself is really hard to watch. The acting is fine, Hao Yiran is really good with his emotion and deliveries, Yunqi on the other hand did well despite being rookie and has great potential for improvement.
The biggest problem of this series is the ENDING, It felt like it was so rushed. One thing FX needed the most is nit YSL but a therapy. Also them being together is not needed.
Overall, series did great but no rewatch value. A new series with YunQi and Yiran with better plot is a must!
