YES!!!!! This is one of the reasons I'm having a hard time with Love in the Clouds. I haven't been able to move past ep 4 or 5 because I can't take the domineering playboy act, and how goofy the FL has to be to maintain her "cover". It exasperates me that the plot of the drama is a strong female warrior (with the appearance of a man) losing her powers and going back into "woman-mode", and being at everyone's mercy until she gets them back. I would've been so into the drama if she was just a warrior and he was a sly dandy, and they go on an adventure and fall in love.
I also feel like a lot of idol actors just... don't have the skill required to portray more complex characters. Like badboys are usually intimidating morally grey and layered characters (in theory) and they just don't go it ToT

Meanwhile, the ML is on his second genocide, and they're like..."Well...his father favored his brother when they were growing up. It was really hard for him. That's why he kills people." Or they'll crush on the legitimately horrific villain. I really can't with people. I gave up.
I heard the FL in The Princess Royal was "horrible" too, but that didn't stop me because I knew people were just being biased. At this point, when people vehemently dislike a FL/female character, I know the chances are I'm probably going to like her.

By the way, yes, I did finish Bound by Sin. I can see why you dropped it at ep 10 because after that the ML initiated most of their intimate moments. I will say this though: the FL didn't become mushy. She was still level-headed and brave, and the drama did give us one last big RR moment by having her propose to him. He held the bouquet and walked up the aisle to her and everything lol.
The ending irked me though because I hate open endings that try too hard to be open, if that makes any sense. Basically the war was over, ML was alive, and citizens were dancing in the streets, but the screenwriter/director still chose to end the drama without the ML and the FL reuniting. It was so unnecessary to end it like that if everyone's alive and well.
Also, I'm in the middle of ep 8 of The Princess Decree, and you were right: those first four episodes were addictive. I blew through them! And ugh, the ML was giving it his all. The way he was crying, shivering, and quaking when she was writing those characters on his bare back??? He's very much an upright scholar who's being undignified, and I was greedily drinking him in.

This was insane. The song "Walk him like a dog. Walk him like a dog, sis" started playing in my head, and I was not proud 😫😂 This poor baby. The actor is definitely carrying the drama though. I know FL's character is only pretending to be a black flag, but I wanted wilder, crazier eyes from her, and some grit in her voice when she was punishing him in front of the court and his contemporaries (or the voice actor's voice if it's dubbed). It felt like the actress was still trying to look "pretty" while doing all of that, but looking pretty needs to go out the window to draw viewers into an intense performance. For example, I hate how soft and stable her voice sounds when she's yelling at him. I want her to shriek, I want her voice to get rough sometimes, and I want it to break. I want her face to contort with anger and sorrow, but instead her eyes just get wider. The actress's portrayal is very tame and controlled. I completely see what you were saying about her.
I'm bummed that all the RR stuff in the drama is already over, but I'm gonna see if I can finish it anyway. The cinematography is stunning, and I want to see what their dynamic will be like once they get together.

Well, if you struggled through the beginning, then you might struggle through all of it cuz it has its usual cdrama dragginess... And there's a love triangle too, which a lot of people found unbearable, but I thought was just regular love-triangle bad XD But a lot of ZLH fans were very upset that SML got "ML moments". Maybe I'm just too dense to get what that means
But there's this very nice scene where FL breaks into ML's family home when he's being punished by his family and protects the hell out of him, and it's probably one of my fav scenes in a drama.
They had a very... idk... interestingly role-reversed dynamic that wasn't quite as RR as I wanted but still more RR than I was expecting. ML highkey thriving in his consort role and very much has wife energy (attentive, caretaker, gentle-parenting, and also a bit of a nag), meanwhile FL has lots of husband energy (tired of this shit, protective asf, and endlessly clueless), so they're fun.

Basically, there's a scene where ML forces himself on FL and doesn't stop even when she tells him repeatedly to. This is NEVER brought up again and came COMPLETELY out of left field. I felt utterly betrayed to see such a pookie babygirl turn like that. I had to put the drama on-hold for months to recover. I discussed it with others at the time, and it isn't even a scene from the novel, so idk why that was included. It was really unnecessary and nasty.

I watched this one last year cuz that intro hooked me like the hungry fish that I am. The beginning was INCREDIBLE!!! Her literally kidnapping and sensually torturing him?! AUGH, but it then reverses the roles shortly after, and he goes into abusive dom territory, like keeping her locked up and chained and marrying her in chains, it's shite. I skimmed the second half, and she dies at the end.

And this dude screams "villain", but silver/white hair has been another one of my weaknesses since Sephiroth from Final Fantasy. I'll probably end up hating him because I usually end up hating villains in C-dramas, but god he's beautiful.

It's a reverse Cinderella situation, so it better be full-on RR if the writers know what's good for 'em. I'm pretty sure I posted in here about it a few weeks ago. But to be fair, a lot has happened since then.

So...unpopular opinion? I generally like love triangles. Always have. Maybe because all the manga/novels I read as a teen had them? They don't bother me the way they seem to bother a lot of younger people. I mean, two guys? That's a starter harem, babyyyyy.
But a lot of ZLH fans were very upset that SML got "ML moments".
Ehhh, I know I just complained about him being in the secondary couple for Love Crossed, but I wouldn't care about the SML having "ML moments" in The Princess Royal as long as they fit his character, and ZLH had other good moments of his own. I actually like when dramas build up the second guy in the love triangle, so the FL has a hard time picking. It's not a very good love triangle if she's not conflicted.
ML highkey thriving in his consort role and very much has wife energy (attentive, caretaker, gentle-parenting, and also a bit of a nag), meanwhile FL has lots of husband energy (tired of this shit, protective asf, and endlessly clueless), so they're fun.
Okay, that's an adorable dynamic. I don't know if I'll ever get back to the drama, but I'll leave the door open. It was completely shut before, but you've convinced me to crack it lol.
Basically, there's a scene where ML forces himself on FL and doesn't stop even when she tells him repeatedly to.
Disgusting! 🥴 Why is this in almost every C-drama? It's like an obsession. Okay, I'm gonna have to close the door a little more. It's still open, but barely. Meanwhile, K-dramas haven't done that in forever! It's so bizarre.

I still rated it an 8. The first half lowkey changed my life. It was technically my first RR mini drama. I mean, starting the show off with her making him strip so she could take pics of him, develop them in her dark room, and then taunt him with them later??? The car scene?? All their tension-filled arguments and REAL KISSES?? I'll never forget it.
The body-writing scene was like my fav omg- he looked immaculate.
It was the shaking, shivering, crying, and the...it wasn't whimpering. Whatever those noises were, he sold them. Baby was in distress. Took me forever to finish that ep XD

I did enjoy them. Very happy I decided to watch. I hope we get more dramas like it too. With an actress that has that "dominant charm" and who isn't afraid to commit like the actress in Forever Love. Speaking of, I found another one of her dramas on iQiyi, and she's playing another domineering CEO. Unfortunately, she's part of the secondary couple, but it's a vertical, so I think my attention span can handle it. It's called "The Wedding Mix-Up" on iQiyi. I'll let you know how it is.
