I see a lot of people are complaining about the love triangle. Is it really that bad here? I hate love triangle…
I think if you’ve seen a lot of kdramas you might find the love triangle boring or even making the drama longer, but strangely I dont find myself fast forwarding the drama. The whole drama is still good and watchable, I’m not judging the whole drama yet since the whole mystery wasnt revealed yet. Also the directing and the visuals of this drama is just too good to miss.
I dont really expect much from the plot (I am not the biggest fan of Moon Embracing the Sun writers, who also wrote this drama), however the pacing is good and I am quite enjoying it. The directing is fantastic, plus I also love the visuals in this drama. Kim Yoo Jung and Kwak Si Yang are really great, Ahn Hyo Seob is also okay. Gong Myung acts good, but I feel like his character would be more interesting to watch if an actor that has a lot more charm plays him.
For me, this should have been a 50 episode drama, instead of splitting to seasons. Old kdrama fans like me know about the epicness of some 50 episode historical dramas (ex: Queen Seon Deok or Six Flying Dragons from writers' previous works, also Jumong, Empress Ki, etc)
Dear shippers, let me save you the heartache. Tanya and Eunseom are the endgame. That's done and set in stone.…
I'm honestly not a hardcore shipper (because I cant choose between Saya or Eunseom). Like you, I believe Eunseom and Tanya are the OTP. But since this is a historical fantasy drama, there is a possibility that one half of the OTP might marry someone else. Tanya might have loved Eunseom only, but there is a possibility she might marry Saya. I'm basing this because two of the writers' previous dramas have the OTP not marry each other. (In Queen Seon Deok, her lover Yushin married someone else, in 6 flying dragons, male lead Lee Bang Won didnt marry his peasant true love but married another person more suitable to become queen). My gosh, I just wish Season 2 is confirmed to be made. I like Song Joong Ki, but I'm not excited whenever he has new projects announced since this drama is not finished. (He's not the reason I watched this though, I was a big fan of the writers too).
This drama is more than just whoever kpop celebrity is appearing on a cameo. So annoying to see some comments here saying this drama’s hype is because of her. If she was an unknown actor, I dont believe people will notice her acting.
I agree. I understand kpop is more popular than the writers of this show, but this drama’s hype should never be about kpop celebrities appearing on a cameo for 1 episode. There’s so much plot going for kpop fans to think this drama is all about her. She has a new drama, all right, but this is not the place to talk about it. If she’s an unknown actor, no one would notice her acting here.
People are going to hate me..but I don't understand why they have adults play as kids-SJK is 35! Why is he doing…
Sometimes they choose actors in their mid 30s to play young characters because either the role is too heavy for young actors or that the character is supposed to grow older as the series progresses. In this drama’s case, one of the main reasons why Song Joong Ki was cast is because the writers really liked him. He had a short appearance in their drama before which not a lot of people know or realize (Tree with Deep Roots way back 2011) and for kdrama watchers at that time, that was the drama that made people think he could be a really serious actor (he had some good roles before like Sungkyunkwan Scandal, but even after that people still think he was only fit for cutesy roles). He was so good in his appearance as the younger version of the main king character there in the first 4 episodes plus a flashback scene in episode 8 or 9 that he even won a producers’ award for it. Despite having more prominent lead roles before Arthdal, I consider his cameo in Tree with Deep Roots as his best acting before Arthdal. Another reason why SJK was chosen is I believe his character/s are supposed to grow older as the series progresses (since this series is planned is multi-season with each season divided into parts). Unfortunately due to covid 19 plus the series not being too popular, the production of season 2 is halted and may possibly not see the light anymore.
I want to start watching this but I've already known that the ML isn't the real culprit. Can I still watch it?
I was spoiled before I started watching this one about the male lead not being real culprit. But there is so much more to the story, there’s a lot of things in this drama that I didn’t expect.
Moon Chae Won and Ji Chang Wook or Yoo Ah In are couples I want to see from your list. I also wish for her to work with Kim Nam Gil, Byun Yo Han, or Jo In Sung. To be honest, I find it sometimes hard to think of actors to work with her as two of the actors she had worked with (Lee Joon Gi and Song Joong Ki) are really amazing actors I consider among the best, but the pairings above are the other pairings I think will work well. Other pairings I want to see: > Lee Joon Gi and Ha Ji Won - great actors who are both good in action and historical dramas too. > Lee Tae Ri and Kim Yoo Jung - they worked twice before as minors but I want them to be the leads in a kdrama and I want them to be a popular pairing (it’s hard to like a pairing that’s not popular, everyone wants her to reunite with Yeo Jin Goo but I like them together better) > Yeo Jin Goo and Kim So Hyun > Kim Nam Gil and Ha Ji Won > Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won - because Arthdal Chronicles story is not finished and they need to finish and conclude it. (All the plot and build up that leads to nothing if this two dont reunite for Arthdal).
I love her too. While I love the female lead, Mishil is also very charismatic, and her actress is the best here.
I still root for the female lead, but it's not very hard for me to empathize with Mishil since her character is complicated and the actress (Go Hyun Jung) is really the best.
I just realised that Song Joogki played the young version of ML, but is actually five years older than Shin Sekyung,…
The adult version of SJK's character (King Sejong as played by Han Suk Kyu) is not a love interest of SSK's character. Jang Hyuk's character is the love interest of SSK's character. The King character, as played by SJK when younger, is already an adult character in the first episodes (his character even has a wife). In the same first few episodes, SSK's character appear as a kid. What I'm trying to say is SJK's character is a lot older than SSK's character. SSK is the female lead, but SJK is the younger version of the much older male lead.
The instrumentals from Painter of the Wind is present in episode 2 while the instrumentals from Tree with Deep Roots is present in episode 1. Not a criticism since I like hearing them. I also like the newly made instrumentals for this drama.
