On Don't Be Too Emotional Jul 18, 2026
Eh, the writers failed at showing the most important part: falling in love and building a relationship. None of what is happening feels deserved, their bond is extremely shallow and underdeveloped, and marred by deep mistrust and anxiety from day 1.

Getting real tired of one of the male leads sexually assaulting the other and it being framed as sexy. It's disgusting
I think framing is subjective. No matter what music they play, when something fucked up happens, sane people understand that it is actually fucked up. And I personally love the dubious consent plots; I'm very pleased we're getting more of them because they can say a lot about the characters and their relationship in toxic and psychologically complex ways. I find healthy fictional couples boring as hell.

Finished E3; this series has some potentially great moments, but it lacks nearly everything else, especially the plot. I loved the moment with the shirt at the end, it really felt like an ABO scene, but with no plot, nothing else lands.

Omg! What an absolutely catastrophic level of typo! You can't even make this stuff up... it's wild. Thank you very much, I edited it :D

I just don't understand how anyone could look at the novel, which is tightly packed with all kinds of events, and decide, 'Nah, instead of adapting the original into a cohesive story, we'll focus on this secondary character and give him more content and scenes even though we only have 10 episodes in store.'

as I am reading the novel, it says that the wolf society is very closed and secretive... it also says that Phatsa…
The problem is that they don't portray it well in the series. Omegas get snatched and bitten on the street; clinics offer tests for determining a gender; Phasta's close friend is a walking encyclopedia, and random people casually ask about genders outside. It's absolutely impossible for someone to live in this society and know nothing for so long.

For example? They just mentioned that the characters and their relationships aren't interesting here, unlike the way it was in My Stubborn. This has nothing to do with a genre.

But it's not faithful to the original novel at all? Nearly everything is different.
Sorry, I got confused, are we talking about Payback? :D What I meant is that the Payback series is very unfaithful to the novel. Jay, who is supposed to be the main character, is basically in secondary roles; he's an absolute psychopath in the novel while here he's emotional, vulnerable, and extremely mild. Their quizzes are missing, even though they played a great role in the plot; the revenge isn't moving at the normal pace: it barely started and there are just a couple of episodes left; there is no acting arc and a ton of important scenes are missing. At the same time, they added another ton of scenes that were never in the novel (for example everything about Sky), which feels like a very weird exchange.

Omegaverse doesn't mean the writing has to be bad.

This, plus Fan Xiao did everything other characters called the kings of black flags do except for hitting Shulang and cheating on him. He drugged him, he assaulted him, he blackmailed him, he basically imprisoned him for a while by making him stay with him, and he kept stalking him until the very last episode (and beyond it). Plus he got a very extensive and realistic redemption arc where he didn't get magically better but finally *wanted* to be better to make the person he loves happy. So he's crazy in the best and most interesting of ways.

I agree, but I don't think they were showing us dry humping, exactly... it was just a very weird and not-good looking scene. You can show animalistic and wild without making it look odd and embarrassing. But I concur that tastes and views differ.

Omegaverse doesn't work like this... when both partners are in a heat/rut, they won't be jumping on each other fully clothed for ages like wild clueless dogs. They'll tear off each other's clothes and get to business. The NC had some good aspects, but it had no logical flow, so it ended up looking weird as hell.

The lack of romance is a big problem in this show, but it's far from the only one.
You wouldn't be able to argue anyway because this show has a ton of objective problems. The lack of romance is a big one, The incoherent treatment of revenge is another big one. Failure to sow the seeds that should be bearing fruit already is yet another problem. If you find this mess well-written, kudos to you, but don't be obnoxious. When a series is based on specific source material, people will obviously have expectations, and they will be obviously disappointed when these expectations aren't met.

Nope. The relationship with Jay was the most defining bond Sun developed. He didn't feel nearly as much for other people in his life; Jay and Jay in particular shook his entire worldview. If they didn't want to show that, they should have chosen another novel to adapt.
