Good points. I’m still watching, but probably not for long.
Thanks. I was really excited for it because I saw some cute clips plus its a reunion for two actors who did great on a previous project but even that couldn't save it for me...as soon as they did the reveal that her son was fine and not dying, I didn't want to give the ML even half a second more screentime to justify his actions that I've seen previously in a clip. The scenes I saw as highlights were basically whitewashing the awful stuff and cherry picking the cute things, which I'm quite used to in c-dramas to build hype but scaring a mother about the life of her child was my bottom line. I had already struggled through 3 1/2 episodes to see him change even in the tiniest amount towards FL, then we had 1/2 episode of him not being a complete D bag, only to do that...and I was like, *casino clap my hands* I'm out of here.
I had to drop it, they keep masking super red flag behavior on the part of the ML and try to play it up with cute scenes with the kid to make up for it. Yes there are some cute moments, but I will never forgive a character who told a mother her child was DYING just so he could get some confirmation, there are a million other ways he could have gotten that information. This is a DROP and earns a solid F minus grade for the writer from me.
And as for transmigration maybe they have some way to modify the idea so they don't censor the drama.
I think since she transmigrated into the novel at the very beginning, they can just cut that part out entirely unless the main FL character thinks about modern times a lot or compares it or something along those lines. Anyway, I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually :)
I think part of it has to do with Confucianism and filial piety too. When he went into the anomaly to die he was…
yes, that's something we in the west don't usually understand as deeply since it isn't part of our traditions. Usually we repay our parents in a general way, with gratitude and caring ect, but in a lot of Asian cultures its a life debt that has a heavy burden whether you like or love your parents or not, regardless if they are deserving (by our standards).
I understood your point. But I hope the drama is good.
Yeah, I'm not 100% sure that's the actual plot they're going with but if they are and they do it well, it sounds like a very interesting show to watch!
He was a treat! What an awful person and full fledged villain. Would love to see more of him.
I think he's always been support roles and generally not the top 5 or 6 characters level of support, I think this is one in particular has higher screen time than a lot of the dramas he's done. He's at the age now that he should get cast as like realistic version of CEO instead of the baby ceos they always have, heck he could even be the villain of a rival company CEO and he'd be 1000% believable in that role, he's got the visuals and the presence for it. I keep looking and even in his upcoming stuff he's not lead, he's only support, and lower down the cast list than would traditionally be for a main antagonist or second lead. He's got one Xiaxia that he's in that's coming out this year so he'll be in historical fantasy garb again.
No coinciding xianxia dramas being shown? Nothing to watch while there’s no episode today
Not that I could find...or at least not good ones that have a lot of hype. I'm on my last episode with my rewatch of The Starry Love and then I have to wait for Sunday to get the new one of this :(
