To be honest I have no idea if it is similar to the webtoon. I remember reading the first chapter ages ago and I think it was pretty dark, but I could remember wrong.

It's possible, but tbh I think it is a new trend in Korea. Netflix likes seasons when it comes to Kdramas (Kingdom, Sweet Home for example) but in this case they are not really seasons, but parts.

It seems that more and more dramas are following this pattern. First it was penthouse with 3 parts, now we have AoS, Island, The Glory, Poong the Joseon Psychiatrist and there will probably be many more. Not all od them are shown on Netflix.

I feel like you are right partly, but at the same time it feels like this is a new marketing strategy coming straight from Korea and not Netflix.
Maybe this is making them more money, I don't know. It feels a bit stupid to me, because I am sure that many people will probably lose interest or not watch the second part at all if they have to wait for months, but if they do it, then there is probably a financial reason behind it.

I have seen Save Me and true she was great there in the emotional scenes, but at the same time she wasn't good in Eve.

I don't think that we should really compare the comedic moments from IONTBO with Island since we are talking about two completely different characters.

I really like SYJ, but first I think her performance greatly depends on if she likes the project, and besides that the FL in this case is your typical (but enjoyable) female lead. She is not a very strong character like Sang Mi from Save me, not a revenge driven FL like Lee Ra El nor a person with a personality disorder that would kill someone without second thoughts like Go Mun Young.
Of course, we can't really judge, because we won't be able to watch her in this role, but from what I have in mind regarding SYJ I feel she would be great in the badass moments of the FL, but at the same time she wouldn't be able to bring any actual comedic elements without making it look a bit more serious that it is.

I haven't seen LDH in anything (besides a movie ages ago that I don't really remember) and when I saw that she was the replacement of SYJ I was a bit dissapointed (mostly because I would prefer SYJ talking into consideration what I had in mind for the drama). I don't have any problem with her though. I think she is pretty good for the role. I suppose if the series ended up being like what I had in mind (basically a dark and very serious supernatural/thriller/horror series) SYJ would be ideal. In this case though, I can't really imagine SYJ running 50% of the time, screaming and trying to save her life.

I don't know why they decided to separate the series into two parts. It seems to be a new trend with kdramas.

Pretty sure it was planned to have 2 seasons, so there is basically almost 0 possibility that there will be no second season.

It will probably be released in March, so likely they are already filming.

I really like So Ye Ji, but after watching her in Eve I felt like she needs some work on the more emotional scenes (however I also felt that she didn't want to star in that drama, so that may have been it)

Of course she is quite a surprise so i wouldn't know till I actually watched her, but taking into consideration the characters she mostly chooses to play I can't imagine her in the "playing scared" and "screaming while running" scenes. I feel like it would look cringy.

It depends what the scriptwriter wanted though. When I watched the FL here I felt like there was comedic elements in some parts and suspenseful vibes. With So Ye Ji, as you said, those scenes would probably look more serious.

Generally since we can't really judge what would SYJ be like, I think the FL here is good for the role.

Whatever they do, I hope it is good enough and that we will actually get to watch it soon.

I like her quite a lot. At the end of the day, she may have been a better choice than So Ye Ji.

The thing is that So Ye Ji would be fantastic in the "badass" scenes and I would really love to see her act with Kim Nam Gil. On the other side, the FL role So far includes comedic moments and lots of screaming something I can't really imagine Seo Ye Ji pulling of. Long story short, I think the FL is pretty good.

I wouldn't really say she is dumb either. She is pretty entertaining to watch so far. She has her moments.
