He seems to have real problems though [his father being mentally abusive to his mother, he has trauma (because of his father) and disdain for cheaters but he almost became one (so he’s torturing himself over it), his father being controlling and pushing him into a business arranged marriage].

And so far, I don’t think he realised that ML and FL like each other mutually and how much they do (Darim even denied it in front of him - she lies in front of the ML that she’s married because she needs the job, but she also isn’t being truthful with SML because she doesn’t think it matters).

I feel like while she is aware that she is supposed to be a married woman, the fact that she’s only pretending and in reality she isn’t, makes her mentality way different than if she actually was married. She’s unconsciously disregarding a lot of things, and doesn’t feel that bothered at heart about them, because she isn’t really married, and that’s why she stays quite obvious about a lot of things (like she thought that Jihyeok was upset about her showing up at his apartment because of his engagement and not because that her being a “married woman” made what they were having inappropriate and wrong and he did want to do that).

However for our male lead, the things he knows as true, are the unquestionable reality for him, so he’s way more bothered by these things, has more thoughts an conflict regarding the situation.

She’s living and making choices while knowing her lie is a lie, while he lives in her lie as his reality (well, up until the end of ep 8 it seems).
I am not trying to justify the FL, she’s started to annoy me too. Just say, that she is quite dense.

yes, but on the other hand, I don’t think he’s aware of even half of how much Darim likes Jihyeok, and from his perspective Jihyeok is a stranger that suddenly and strongly took interest in Darim (he doesn’t know how they met in Jeju, Darim also denied to Seonu that Jihyeok likes her or that there’s something between them more than once), which might come off as sleezy.
So while part of his reasoning is selfish, he also has the credit of not knowing a bunch of stuff (so far) that the viewers already know about.

But I’m not a fan of the love triangle troupe being used here either.

But the fact that she is treated like a mistress by ML is also entirely because of her own actions, as she is the one who always initiates contact between her and SML.
SML is only involved/at fault for making her not tell the truth, which he is doing both for his selfish reason and for FL’s sake (she asked him to keep that secret no matter what too) so that she won’t lose the job etc.

No, I agree with everything you said and I am of the same sentiment.
That’s why what I said above is really just a pet peeve, my irritation speaking (is the female lead really worth all this trouble? ) rather than a more rational take on his character haha.

Really? I didn’t notice it that much, he is the SML but he’s also listed as the main character so he should have a pretty big amount of screen time by default (I guess)

If she registered herself as a single mother she would have to eventually involve Jun (SeonU’s son) without involving his father (since in the first place she decided to apply and lie because there kind of is a kid and a man “in her house”), which would be weird and unfair towards that boy (pretending? Acting? he doesn’t know about the situation and a child should be involved in adults problems like that). I guess that’s why she applied while giving SeonU’s name as her husband, it’s easier and less damaging to pull off.

to be honest he did reject Haeyoung, although quite passively/delicately/lousily, and he remains kinda ambiguous/indecisive afterwards (she’s also unfazed by how he replies to her advances and kinda pursues him anyway no matter what he says - so far).

Nah, I like him, but there’s no way. (Also honestly, when someone is the SML 99% of the time they don’t get the main girl, if the pairing isn’t excellent what is the point of cheering for that ship? Since it’s quite obvious that it won’t happene?) Eventually with the SFL, although right now it’s not looking promising.

I think the employees went to the party because they were a part of the team that was under the ML in the company. Also from what I understood her “husband and kid” were actually at a separate event that just happened to be near - might be wrong though, maybe the employees were required or could bring a plus one or their spouses and children.

I kinda wish that the ML would have driven the line between them a bit sooner, or a bit stronger… or, I think, I just would like to see less of him chasing after FL with almost no respect for himself in the next episodes. Because, boy, I know he likes her, but attraction has limits (especially if it’s someone you knew for a short time), and he cannot like her THAT much… but that’s just my recently developed pet-peeve😅.

I still like him 😅 but I don’t like how he is acting right now, being so selfish/controlling, and I don’t see him ending up with 2FL (or I don’t think that he should) if he keeps the same attitude towards her like right now. But I feel like someone people might be a bit overreacting, calling him a creep/psycho etc. He just got turned into that kinda old-school SML type by the writers but he’s not acting insane yet (as in besides the romance plot he seems totally an okay guy).
