I am a sucker for food dramas so this is right up my alley. I'm also used to watching food-centric J-dramas and…
The main issue with each drama listed on MDL is that everyone interprets the label "romance" differently. When someone sees the romance genre, they expect a certain level of romantic elements, but they often don't consider nuances like "little romance," "light romance," "focus on romance," "romantic interests," "one-sided romance," or even "romance with a big R." šŸ˜†

Everyone has their own preferences, which can lead to varying expectations. This discrepancy isn't necessarily about the drama itself, but rather how audiences and platforms promote it.

Also, it’s a reminder that he is now 25 years old, which makes him 10 years younger than Yoona, not 11 as someone…
Yes, a one-year difference is significant between 10 and 11. Fewer wrinkles, indeed. Sorry, I can't help it! 🤣

Did you guys know that in the original novel there’s no romance at all? It’s only about Ji Yeong surviving…
Oh, that's interesting! I tried to find the English novel but only found two chapters. If you have a link, I would appreciate it if you could message me.

i am enjoying this so far but i am a bit worried they're going to rush the ending. Only four episodes left and…
They always rush the ending. I have hardly ever seen a satisfactory, long enough epilogue in dramas.

i do wish they could've gotten an actor fluent in chinese, or at least a voice actor to dub his scenes because…
I read an article on MDL stating that the voice actor who dubbed the envoy humiliated him online, which led to significant backlash (deserved).

That being said, if that is indeed his voice, his Chinese pronunciation is quite poor. He might want to consider changing careers.

You didn’t pay attention to last episode. The inventor guy promised to bring it and that was mentioned again…
You are correct. 😜 I edited that part

Looks like many people say it's boring, and they're dragging the competition for too long even tho it's only 2…
This is a comedy, but many scripts and directors blend in elements of drama, such as palace politics (here heavy true historical events) and a love story. Striking the right balance can be challenging, as audiences often lean more toward one aspect rather than the others. This complicates the storyline, especially since cooking serves as the central theme in this drama.

I personally take it first degree and enjoy it as is. Discussing facts and preferences doesn't mean the drama is bad or Ido not like it. Everyone has opinion. I wished people didn't take it personally because we think differently. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

**Prediction…**

Joseon will lose the second round but ultimately win the final with honor. The inventor will rush to the palace to save the round by presenting the top..

Joseon team will miss the victory in 2nd round only because the eunuch gave a higher score to his team, which is absurd. How can there be fairness when the two countries despise each other so deeply?

It's fun to read the reactions on this forum. I hope everyone sleeps well tonight, and I send positive vibes to the director of this drama... Just in case.

For me, Yoona's acting is good so far. Most of the time, her character is thinking about her next steps or planning…
I understand your perspective, but for me, this is a comedy with a cooking theme, so I don't expect it to resemble a reality show. I really enjoy MasterChef, and I find Gordon Ramsay hilarious. Perhaps it’s because I’ve worked with executive chefs myself; they can be quite impressive in the kitchen, but they often behave very differently outside of it.

I really enjoy the cooking segments; everything looks absolutely delicious!

When I watched episode 1, I related a lot to Faith, the doctor. It was uncanny! I even checked to see if it was the same actress.. šŸ˜†

Even the one kiss exchanged reminded me of Faith. It wasn’t a genuine moment between two people in love; it was more of a drunk guy forcing a kiss on a girl. In Faith, the kiss occurred in front of a dozen people, and it was meant to save her—not romantic at all. We’ll see how it is developed.

However, episode 2 was much better and felt less childish and over-the-top. At least she only pulled her hair once this time! I'm not saying her acting is bad, but it did come across as a bit exaggerated. It seems like she wants to make her point very clear. Coming from the future isn’t an excuse; it’s more about her personality.

That said, this is a light comedy. Personally, I see a one-sided romance developing so far. For me, the scriptwriter and director haven't convinced me about the mutual romantic interest yet, but we still have four episodes left to see how it unfolds.

The book definitely plays a significant role in the epilogue.

I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT "LACK OF ROMANCE" I AM TOTALLY ENJOYING THE COOKING COMPETITION…
It is not a complaint; it is a fact. That is the main difference. Note that there is no need to raise your voice to express your opinion (capital letters netiquette)

Honestly, the last three episodes have been kind of a snooze. The drama isn’t even that long, yet they wasted…
The main issue with tags and labels is that when a drama is tagged as "romance," we expect it to center around romance, especially if the series has a short episode count. However, I would approach this drama by placing a greater emphasis on comedy, while still incorporating elements of romance and drama and of course lot of cooking since it is the main topic.

I could be mistaken, but the female lead (FL) has primarily worked in TV shows and music videos before transitioning to movies and dramas later in her career. While her diverse experiences are commendable, they differ significantly from one another. I find her facial expressions and acting style to be quite similar to those of the FL in "Faith: The Doctor." Both performances seem exaggerated to me and lack the honesty and believability that I look for in acting. However, between the two, I prefer this FL.

As for the Chinese language used in this drama, I must admit that I have become accustomed to Mandarin. Any other accent often makes me feel as though it’s a completely different language. While I've learned a few expressions from Chinese dramas, I struggled to catch anything in this particular show.

I enjoy this drama; it provides great entertainment.

There are only four episodes left, and I’ve noticed a lack of romance and declarations of love. It’s clear that he has fallen deeply in love with her, but I don’t see those same feelings reciprocated on her end. She seems troubled, but I don’t perceive her emotions as deeply as I would expect. Therefore, I would categorize this drama more as a comedy than a romance.
