I don't dislike the professor, but I think he made a really out of line request while trying to be flirtatious. What ML did was a one time thing, and there is a way to walk out of it if she doesn't want to. But the prof asks for dinner every week in return for tuition fees. I guess he was trying to show he was interested, but there is no escape route to this request so I feel it was definitely a weird thing to ask for.

No offence but it really seems some of these sock accounts are just scrounging through the comment section and finding something negative and then changing the wording and posting it again because it's slowly becoming a game of Chinese whisper at this point with many factual errors as more of these accounts come by. Because exactly where was it implied that she got through with connections? I thought it was very obvious that she was extremely talented but always questioned and challenged because she was a woman and was under the guidance of a more famous man. Very 90s I guess (not).

That scene with them waiting for each other's texts (the fact that Jian Bing waited for the entire time to text or receive a text, she's falling slowly). It had me squealing (internally), lol. Wished she left that karaoke place and just had gone to that noodle shop.

I think his dramas are doing great. But you just can't expect every drama to be The Knockout, it was the biggest drama in the past nine years (that's longer than xz's acting career). He's on a great path, let's hope very soon one of his dramas can be as big as The Knockout.😂

The last part, you are right. I also recently saw a cctv promotional video with young actors. All their dramas aired on cctv8, and although they were big web hits, most of them didn't attract much ratings except wdb (and also this one which is also averaging above 1). This isn't a brag but a genuine observation. Maybe xz attracts a more uniform demographic and TV puts their faith and money in that.

This drama is a bit niche in genre so that might affect its popularity. Though aiman isn't a great index to judge as it considers the number of posts made for a drama .. including posts made by bots aka the infamous water data.

I wrote this because I saw it multiple times and it's really baffling to me. Even if one hasn't reached the episode where the leader gets punched, I just wonder, how do you handle day to day trivialities? Snap at your mom over a trivial thing, refuse to help, beat up your boss?? I just want to know what alternatives he could have done to prevent being called a pushover.

What is with the pushover thing some people keep talking about. God forbid you once help out your friend and don't create a scene at your workplace and listen to your mother and suddenly you're a pushover? No nuance in critique?

I didn't know what to expect from this drama before but the trailer has got me hooked and now I can't wait! Hope the whole drama is as good as the trailer.

Idk why no one posted this here but The Youth Memories scored 7.5 on douban with around 275k votes, which is a super high score given the leads are traffic stars who have loads of irrational haters (most recent dramas of liuliangs are getting scores like 3-4 only). This is the biggest proof of how well-received this drama has been. Hope it can get nominations for the mainstream awards next year.
