Why are the random troll comments getting so many likes. Like why y'all staring at this drama all day lmao it's still not gonna unflop your faves and the super inflated drama scores here will still receive a 5 or 6 on douban so please leave us alone 😭

I must say I like the trope subversion of the taboo relationship of master and disciple. Da Si Ming has watched enough cdramas to know that a close personal disciple will almost always become a lover hence setting up his preferred future bride candidate for the position. 🀣

Why are all the men hanging out with Zhu Yan so much?πŸ˜…E.g. Shi Ying, Zhi Yuan, Chong Ming, Qing Gang
I like the cute friendships. Better than plotlines where everyone is in love with the fl.

Not just you, I am too so sad already😭
Their bond is so much better than the novel too. I'm just so devastated already and only glad that he'll return with a half life 😭

Why is the production team already releasing the scenes of Shi Ying's death.. I'm already so sad. Personally, I see xianxia genre like a spectacle and I don't get affected by emotions because the characters keep getting killed and birthed again and again. But that longing and pain on xz's face in that scene just gave me such a heartache, agghh.

Ren Min as Zhu Yan was the best choice. I don't know why I find her acting so naturally. She doesn't have to act…
Seriously I enjoyed ep 9-10 so much. It was really nice to see Shi Ying be playful for once, he's just so sad all the time 😭. I laughed so hard when he printed those letters from his sleeve to her hand. πŸ˜‚ He didn't need to feed her the dust cake but he still did because he probably found it funny and likes to play with her.

Yeah same. The novel isn't written that well and they only removed the creepy part and made the plot more seamless.…
From the narrative of the drama I don't think there's any age gap, they're royalty of the same age/generation. The confusion is just the screw-up of the makeup department that gave a childish hairstyle to Zhu Yan and a mature one to Shi Ying. πŸ˜“

Oh yeah, that was so brutal it really made me question if we are rooting for the wrong side. Even if they don't go into the brutality I'm looking forward to see some grey areas that makes people question if either side is truly good or bad. I kinda want the jiuyi mountain arc to get over fast so we can move to the real stuff πŸ˜‚

In the novel, when Zhu Yan first meets Shi Ying accidentally, she's 8 and he's 16-17. After she studies under him for a while, they part and they meet again later when she's 18 and he's 26-27. But before parting he gifts her the jade bone, which is a property of the Bai clan and is passed to the next empress. So basically when she was a child, Shi Ying already chose her as his bride (although he'd never assume kingship or marry, and his love would forever remain spiritual). This is the only big change the drama did, removing the unbalanced power dynamics and 'spiritual' love towards a child.

Man I’m so SO GLAD they did some changes of the story from the novel for the drama. So many improvements already!…
Yeah same. The novel isn't written that well and they only removed the creepy part and made the plot more seamless. They kept most of the essence of every character and it will play out well in the second half. Anyone who is disappointed about the "change" just wanted to see that creepy thing imo.

I feel bad for her. The wig is an atrocity and too cheap for S+ drama. Bangs in general should be banned in c-drama.…
It's just a figure of speech. Lol. You said how it's fitting she won the golden broom, so I provided a counter point that she was also nominated for the most prestigious award in china for drama that's actually decided by a panel of experts and not a bunch of unemployed people for clout and money, that's all.
