I agree that somehow female leads end up for jerky male leads in most dramas. HOWEVER male lead in here just acts…
As I said, I've only watched Episode 1 so far, but so far his behaviour has made me feel a bit sick. I know about the coup and all that, it's just my reaction to his behaviour regarding the FL.
why not capturing what the story is telling. he is a man who has a different background compared to normal people.…
I think you've misunderstood what I'm saying... I actually love historical dramas, especially the realistic ones. But... how realistic is it falling in love with someone who has been so violent towards you? The realistic response is hate or Stockholm Syndrome (if you can't escape).
As for this drama, I have only watched the first episode, it was just my first impression and pent up frustrations after watching Novoland. BTW...Sorry if I gave any Novoland spoilers.
Wow, Ashes of Love followed by Goodbye my Princess... Your poor heart must be aching a lot by now! π
You must have been wasted a lot of the time then if I think about how much those two dramas made me weep. π The worst is when she spits out that pill after killing Xufeng and lets out that scream, omg, it still gives me the chills just thinking about it.
Just watched episode 1 and the alarm bells are ringing. When will C dramas stop romanticising abusive men? Also contributing to this myth that still haunts women worldwide "I can change him" (only works in dramaland). Not cool. A lot of these "MLs" are already unforgiveable after a few episodes. Also thinking of Xu Kaicheng's Emperor character in Novoland Pearl Eclipse. He was an absolute monster in the beginning and any real girl would have got PTSD from that BS. Strangling her, raping her, other acts of violence. This is messed up. Falling in love after all that? No way. Stockholm Syndrome more like.
I beg to differ. I find Ethan a bit overwhelming. I like Mark Chao. But William played his role here pretty well.…
I am glad you enjoyed it more than I did, and of course the character is very interesting. It's that whole sacrifice for the greater good level of virtue. Let's be clear, I'm not saying William Chan was bad, just not amazing, in my opinion anyway.
As for Ethan Yuan, I think the way he played his character in Fuyao was quite unique. I liked that he was so overwhelming. π He was so intense. Anyway, each to their own! π
I thought this way at first, but I found myself falling in love with his acting decisions towards the second half…
The crumbling of the stoic exterior or the small breakthroughs of true emotion is of course the most interesting part of acting this kind of character. It's just that I have seen much stronger and more intense acting of this kind of role that moved me far more than William Chan did, unfortunately.
It's not a high quality drama... I felt I would have enjoyed it more if I was younger (and therefore more forgiving…
Yeah, but in a way it's all quite young and family friendly somehow lol. I agree, it was flawed but oddly watchable and really unexpectedly quirky at times!
I have to agree with you here. William has dead eyes to me, it's like he doesn't emote well. Someone like Chen…
Exactly. Dead eyes. The real art of playing one of these cold/poker face MLs is the depth behind the eyes and the micro expressions, he didn't transmit that for me.
Omg yes.. I feel like the ending was rushed. They could've made another episode to tell us what happened with…
Actually, I think it's Eunseom, Saya and Tanya who are the Sword Mirror and the Bell. Eunseom is Aramun. Tagon was just pretending in order to claim power.
