The cinematography is unreal here wow stunning production, a visual feast
Totally agree... It's fantastic, almost flawless. I can only think of one criticism and that is the look of the non-human blood... That could have been done better. Looked like paint. A bit tacky.
Had to stop this on episode 11. I truly am not being pulled in nor understanding the point of what’s been happening…
It's not a high quality drama... I felt I would have enjoyed it more if I was younger (and therefore more forgiving of the huge flaws and cheesy, 2D characters). I think to enjoy this you have to accept it for what it is. Although there are a lot of flaws, it does have some surprisingly good aspects and once I got into it, I found it quite watchable (providing you're after something light).
This may be a controversial opinion but I think a different ML could have offered a stronger performance. It's not that his acting was bad, it just wasn't profound somehow. In terms of MLs William Chan simply isn't as charismatic as Yang Mi's previous lovers in other dramas. If I think about Mark Chao in 10 Miles of Peach Blossom or Ethan Yuan in Legend of Fuyao, those guys had so many layers they were like onions, which made them fascinating. For me, William Chan is a bit too flat by comparison.
I was hoping for a new extraordinary drama to watch over and over again, but for me personally, this just didn't make the cut. Also, I find the pace of the story is off with too much focus on early years and not enough screentime left for the end. They pack in some happy days before the misery resumes. Zhouying is a main character who occupies so much screentime and then becomes a footnote.
Overall, too much angst and too little joy. Too much screentime devoted to irrelevant storylines and characters. Not enough fantasy elements imo. I also just didn't feel deeply connected to the characters like I have in some dramas. Somehow it didn't captivate me. Shame. I was really looking forward to this one...!
Well i was hoping they both rule together and raise the prince and then fl n ml son would become besties with…
That's exactly what I was hoping for in the end too... Also, I thought they were hinting she was pregnant in the last couple of episodes? I was pretty sure that was going to be a thing.
I kinda wish this was more angsty, now that I’ve gotten a taste of the angst in ep 8 HAHAHA. What can I say……
A good dollop of angst can really make a drama. I can think of dramas that went overboard with the angst and ones that would have been better with a bit more of it.
One thing I love about this drama is how much it portrays ordinary family life. It feels very real at times. A lot of modern C dramas are too glamorous, which makes them hard to relate to.
But one thing I don't like is that it is all about the ML's career and personal development, and the FL, despite supposedly doing extraordinary things, only really gets to be a support for the ML. Scenes where her field of expertise are the focus are very rare... If there had been equal focus on each character's careers, it would have been much better. (And could have cut out some of those very long flashback scenes). Also, Yang Zi isn't very convincing as an intellectual... She succeeds at cute geek, but not highly intelligent cute geek.
