Oh finally someone said it.. I also think that ep 14 was an improvement, still not perfect but at least there…
Same! Despite my feeling that this drama could be so much better, I'm still enjoying it. The romance has died down though... The fact that they can't touch doesn't help, I know, but there are other ways of creating that kind of passion. I'm not sure how the Hwacha deal will play out... We'll see next week!
No he's the second son. The King did that whole speech about how he himself wasn't the eldest son and it was used against him throughout his time on the throne, leading him to decide that the eldest had to inherit. BUT the crown prince is apparently sick (we only see him that one time when they're all young) which is weird as well....
If the Crown Prince and the third prince are so nice and normal, what went wrong with Brother 2?
I'm sorry to say I've seen much, much worse... C dramas are really bad for it.
Just remembered there was one drama I watched where the animals were largely special effects and every time it came on it would say "This is not a real animal etc".

There's plenty of scenes where someone is jabbing at birds in cages with long sticks... I've even seen dogs and cats wince and act defensively and the actor is there grinning like "isn't it cute?"
It's quite rare to see an actor who clearly knows how to handle animals respectfully and caringly. They tend to grab them as if they're stuffed toys.
I don't care enough about him to dislike him lol. I find him a predictable villain, he wants absolute power ok, but does he realise he will no longer be himself if Ma Wang takes over? Also, he's got the classic chip on his shoulder about not being crown prince, but none of this gets more elaboration, which is a shame. He just is "bad", for no apparent reason.
Personally, I prefer a more ambiguous villain. One where you kind of understand where they're coming from...An idealistic villain. Or one that is stark raving mad with crazy delusions. They're fun too.
It bewilders me when people say this drama is boring. I mean to each their own I guess, I’m usually very impatient…
Maybe the drama stuff you find boring is what makes things more interesting for other viewers? I'm often bewildered by how boring some dramas are that some people absolutely adore (in my case, usually because it's too cliche/understimulating intellectually/not funny enough). Mostly, I like complex characters, plots and conversations, plenty of depth and subtlety. Depends on the person, in the end... Also depends on your age, I think. I am in my 30s, and I rewatched some stuff I loved when I was in my late teens/early 20s recently and was bored to tears by it and found it really cringeworthy. State of mind can alter your perception of a drama too I think...
What kind of stuff do you normally fast forward through? What bores you in a drama?
I was wondering if the correct way to seal mawang in the divine painting is cheon gi should make the painting…
Yeah, the gods have insinuated that her eye sight will be returned to its original owner... I assumed this would be after the demon had been sealed, but maybe not. I also keep thinking about this bowl Samshin mentioned a few times.
I have to say for me episode 14 was an improvement... Finally some plot progression! Not the same old conversations again and again... But they never deepen the backstories of the supporting characters, which I think is a shame. So that shadow guard Moo Young died... Who is he? Why can he move like a shadow? We don't know, and he's already dead. Meanwhile we get this jealousy vibe between Cheong Gi and one of Ha Ram's revenge buddies, (can't remember her name?), who goes and deliberately tells Cheong Gi that her father is being led through the streets so she will leave and get captured Clearly more than a "you're messing with our revenge plot" issue there, she must have thought she was going to be Ha Ram's ladyfriend. But why introduce jealousy so late in the series? If they're going to do something like that, they should have done it episodes ago instead of countless pointless scenes... And do it properly at least!
HOWEVER... I still maintain episode 14 was a major improvement.
I know it’s common place in East Asia but the fatphobia in episode 34 is nauseating
So much of that in C dramas, they're quite narrow-minded with their definition of beauty. I saw Chinese people getting interviewed on the street on a YouTube video, and the sheer amount of people (who were clearly a healthy weight) who said they thought they were fat was horrifying! I think a lot of Chinese people think slim/beautiful= underweight (or right on the edge of underweight)!
But portraying overweight characters as disgusting, gluttonous (eating with their hands, food all over their faces) village idiots (average IQ of overweight characters in C dramas is around 50) is unnecessarily cruel.
