I know and I agree. I just mean the concept of "barbaric" was invented by the colonisers. Colonisers are people who wrongly believe they are superior because XYZ (e.g. skin tone, religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender etc), justifying their lust for power and domination. The belief in supremacy is an illusion. : ) But it is an illusion many people through history have believed in... But empires rise and fall... And sometimes those who were the colonised over time became the colonisers and vice versa.

I think the fantasy genre (like Arthdal) could have a lot of fun with the prehistoric theme! Especially if they take a lot of creative license like Arthdal (e.g. the Neanderthal's blue blood).

Plus, "barbaric" is a coloniser term. Living in harmony with nature like the tribe in the beginning is a beautiful thing. I think the shock/confusion they have when meeting the "colonisers" over the idea of owning land is particularly interesting.

It's quite unusual for a drama to give this much screen time for the younger selves. I like it!

Also... although it is realistic for the time period, I can't help but feel a bit creeped out by a 13 year old getting married... They're just little girls! : (

I have it another shot and I'm into it now! I've just realised the girl who plays Heo Yeon-Woo is the adult FL in Love in the Moonlight! Haha!
I've heard the adult FL isn't nearly as good as the kid...

I think the premise of this drama is one of the things that makes it so interesting. There are actually very, very few dramas or films set in prehistoric times. I don't know why this theme is so rare.

It was renewed back in 2020. It was immensely successful at home and abroad, and has Netflix to fund it! It was just put on hold because of the pandemic. Filming has begun, from what I hear, so we just have to wait another half year maybe...!

They may have started filming back in May! Probably will take a few months to film and then it will need to go to be edited and the sound work etc.

Apparently, the production/filming has started (maybe already back in May) but it is being kept very low key. So, let's say it takes a few months to film and then it goes to the editing room. Some say to expect it already end of this year, but I think next year is more realistic.

Plus, I bet the majority of the Kris Wu fans are girls... I find it more worrying/disturbing. Like those types that send love letters to serial killers in prison... A few screws loose in the brain department...!

I hear the Chinese government are cracking down on obsessive fan and anti-fan culture online, so it's pretty good timing for Yang Mi lol. I really don't understand this kind of obsessive fan stuff. It's weird af. Did you hear about Kris Wu's fans? They were talking about a prison break or prison visiting teams... He was arrested for rape, but they STILL worship him. I mean, the blind loyalty vs the blind hatred of other celebrities is just bizarre and so extreme. Madness.

Usually, they air about 2 episodes x 3 times a week. If you're not a native speaker, you may have to wait a while for the subtitles, but that also depends on how popular the drama is... Nowadays, C dramas get subbed much quicker and better than a few years ago. Also, streaming sites like Viki are great, especially if you get a subscription... Because the ads are so annoying.
Because most C dramas are like a very long film, I tend to wait until it has all finished airing so I can binge it in one go! :D

Let's see! Hope for sooner rather than later! :))

I know, I really want to watch it, but every time I try, I find the lighting so grating for my eyes, I can't enjoy it.
I don't have a TV, I watch on my laptop, so I'm not sure if I could tweak the settings in that way...

Looked it up. From a Western perspective, this is nothing lol. Plus that ex of hers wanted her to become a nice little housewife (probably because he was jealous of her success which far exceeded his own... ha! Suck it Hawick!) But Chinese people are more judgemental of these kinds of things (especially of the woman *rolls eyes*)... She's divorced, why shouldn't she get remarried? Good for her! =))
Also, I don't care what her personal life is like (none of my business), but I love her acting and her dramas, I also think the actors in her studio are all fab too!

Leo Luo's character is pretty complex... and you don't see the full story about him till near the end... It's complicated. :D But I won't spoil it for you! You could say this drama is a mystery that takes time to unravel...

It's great! Watch it! If you like mature, complex characters and lots of unexpected twists and turns...
If you're the type who prefers fluffy princesses, prince charmings and light hearted stuff, this is not for you, because this drama has highs and lows, but gets pretty dark at times... I'm rewatching it now, super intense emotional ride, but beautiful costumes and sets, and the fight scenes are fantastic.
