Lol yes, I feel the same. It makes me cringe and uncomfortable every time.
I don't think so. I think he did at tge beginning, but then when he saw how sincere she was he really fell in love with her. BUT... He's very selfish and has this obsession with the throne. However, I think the actor maybe overdid it.
I agree...there were parts of the story I liked...but some changes needed to be adjusted in the drama to make…
Ok, so I thought about it after I finished and came to the conclusion that the biggest issue with this drama, other than the excessive abuse, is Ma Zhaixing. She's supposed to be clever but she seemingly gets more and more dense. She is too ridiculous. She sees him, for example, hide and then admit his affection several times, but each time she fully believes he doesn't care. Stupid. She should be able to see a pattern.
Think about how she was portrayed in the beginning when she is receiving suitors. She is discerning and bright. But then, she recognises him and knows he has a wolf army, but she still doesn't figure out that he is Wolf Boy...?
So, I think if her character was strengthened, it would be a more interesting drama. I would have her go to court already as someone who has been Acting Feudal lord and perhaps someone who genuinely commands the Ma Army. Someone dignified and serious. I would have her melt along with him, because she has also been grieving. I would maybe have a scene where like a servant mentions she hasn't seen her smile or laugh for a long time. Also, I would have had her save the wolf pup younger brother. That would have added an interesting twist. Maybe she could raise the pup herself, so the pup becomes her friend.
Also, I would have had her be a bit more dominant with the prince. Plus, it's so bloody tame. They could have made it a bit less PG and spiced things up a bit. It's got this 50 shades of grey quality without any heat. They missed the mark there in my opinion.

I don't know if he's intentionally so slimy or whether he isn't a very good actor, but everything he said felt insincere. How is Wuguli so devoted to him? Foolish.

Yeah, there are some seriously messed up parts where I felt it went too far. He is such a tyrant and abuser and goes to unforgivable lengths. His only redeeming quality at some times is that he is cruel and abusive to himself too, or that he is doing it to help her, either genuinely or out of some twisted belief that he is helping her. Bear with it... I have reimagined certain parts of the plot. Really wish I could do a remake! Lol!
So excited to watch it now!!! (But don't want to start watching it until it has finished airing... )
I have been waiting for Zhou Yiwei to be a ML for ages... He was absolutely amazing in "Tribes and Empires" and "The Longest Day in Chang'an". Have you seen them?
I also haven't seen Zhang Ziyi since "House of Flying Daggers" and "Memoirs of a Geisha". So excited. But I will try to be patient and wait... I get a more intense experience of a C drama when I watch it all in one.
I agree. When she was Acting Feudal Lord, she seemed to be mature, wise and cunning, but then she just got sillier,…
I know. I was just thinking about the changes I would make to improve the issues I had with this drama. But, since you haven't finished it, I won't spoil it for you. I did love the drama despite some issues.
