ok but putting hating the character aside. Jung Soo Min's actress Song Ha Yoon is doing so well. Like shes the…
Yeah there is something extremely unnerving about her. She's giving psychopath vibes especially that drowning scene and scratching out the FLs face. She has this perfect little act going and knows exactly how to manipulate people. But there is this weird obsessive love-hate thing she has for the FL. Initially I thought oh she's just pretending that she's devoted to the FL to use her as a stepping stone, but in the last episodes she's starting to give off really possessive vibes. Talk about poisonous snake!
I hope the writers don't try to redeem her with some kind of lame "it all spiralled out of control and now I'm remorseful". I like the idea of her genuinely having no empathy, full on psycho trying to pretend she's normal, it's far more interesting to see the chips in that perfect doll face start to emerge to see the dark crazy witch underneath!
Can you elaborate on why you feel she's miscasted? The Zhu Yan character from the original novel is supposed to…
My opinion of her improved slightly near the end but overall, I don't think she had the stage presence for this role. When oh when will China stop investing in this ridiculous infantile act? I was going to watch Sword and Fairy but so many comments are complaining about Esther Yu, I have a feeling I will be equally frustrated.
I’m not finished because it got so boring and random with no signs of the main character in sight, obviously…
Personally, I wouldn't ever describe a nude shot of Song Kang as unnecessary. 😏 In all seriousness though, I think the nudity made the character very vulnerable in that scene which made it dramatic and unexpected. I thought it was effective.
For me the best part of this was the back story about the two Mi Jas. I found that very moving. The romance for me was sweet but a bit underwhelming and immature, especially considering these characters are in their late 30s. The villagers were great, especially the divers lol. The friendship gang was good but could have been funnier. The sisters side stories for me didn't deliver. Overall, good but not great.
I miss the days when c-dramas just had one season and could be 70+ episodes long without any breaks in airing.…
God same here. I miss it so much. The Chinese drama makers excel in the long format. I know one of the concerns is the backlog of dramas waiting to air, which makes me wonder why they don't drop dramas all in one go Netflix style? There are lots of lower quality dramas that could be done like that and would free up more airing calendar for higher quality dramas!
You should definitely watch it...LYF is not a typical romance drama.. There is much more than just romance...…
Life is complicated. Actually, there are 3 MLs.
Cangxuan Her cousin who she is close to as a child but they are separated. She is devoted to him and loves him as family, but he has romantic feelings for her. He joins the power struggle for the throne which means he cannot act as he wishes in his personal life.
Shi Qi A young man she saves from the brink of death who dedicates himself to her as a servant. He loves her but his family is toxic and controlling, while he is gentle, kind but easily manipulated /weak willed.
Xiang Liu A demon who bonds with the FL over similar childhood traumas. He starts as antisocial and cold but learns to love for her. They have a deep understanding of each other. He has military responsibilities that conflict with the FL, and this means he cannot be with her.
Watch it and see. It's not a typical C drama. These bonds are all really unique and special.
It's a winter summer romance. She is in her early 20s, he's 40ish, but it doesn't feel predatory at all. She is the one who pursues him no matter how much he tries to turn her down.

Unfortunately, I think it will be later.
