Yes, an orphan living on the streets won't have higher learning or literacy skills, but by no means would they be stupid or have bad people skills. Someone like that is more likely to be tough, disillusioned and savvy. Did you watch The Long Ballad? Remember that street kid that accompanied the 2FL (Zhao Lusi) on the refugee walk. He did a great job of showing the tough exterior and vulnerable interior, and he was a literal child. If a child can do a better job than an adult actor, questions should be asked lol.

This is also true. The producers and makers of the dramas decide the style. However, when the actress has only done this style consistently in her dramas, it shows a lack of range and ability.

This style is the norm for overweight characters too e.g. Wang Jian in Song of the Moon. Thinking about this acting style sociologically, I think it shows the deep seated prejudices against fat people and women. The baby cutesy thing has been born from manga (and porn). It comes from the male gaze.

Some actresses manage to incorporate the style in moderation followed by a period of character growth (into a normal person lol) and then it is more.... bearable lol.

Good for her, doesn't change her lack of acting ability unfortunately. I'd be more impressed if she got to the top with actual talent rather than relying on her looks entirely.

Actually, Cheng Shaoshang is an excellent example of a teen character growing up and maturing. Her base character doesn't change, but her experiences and learning lead her to becoming more mature and worldly.

Far more realistic than these toddler seductresses. 🤣 If I was Jeremy Tsui, I'd start carrying pacifiers on me to give to his leading lady babies lmao. All his FLs are like this, except for his love interest in Legend of Dugu, and his acting was excellent in that.

Thanks! I will stick with Chongzi for a while longer because novel readers have told me they expect significant character growth by the second life. With xianxias, there is usually a lot of growth, so I will hope. However, I will definitely give this one a go too!

I didn't behave like this as a teen and have never met any teen who behaved like this. Teens in my experience tend to be the opposite of cute, just moody and wanting to be taken seriously and seen as adults rather than children. 🤣

Immaturity doesn't mean cute and stupid to me, it means inexperienced, unformed or an evolving character, views, style or values. It doesn't mean playing a cutesy child seductress with lots of makeup and eyelash batting/pouting.

Well, when an actress is very pretty but has very poor acting ability, then yeah, she's just a pretty face, and in the last drama I saw her in, it was the same thing. As I also said earlier, I am willing to give her a chance or I wouldn't be watching this at all...

There is a list of young actresses just like her. Cheng Xiao comes to mind as another example. It is a problematic trend and I hope it fizzles out soon. :-)
