Basically the second husband slept with her in a drunken state?
Haha so true, C dramas have a lot of these formulas, rules and cliches. I've been wanting to compile a list for fun for a while now. For example: rain in dramaland is deadly, instant flu or serious illness followed by the nursing scene and at least one complaint about the medicine being too bitter!

I'm with Lina on this one regarding C drama "rules". You named one, but I'd say that was the exception not the rule (and to be clear, I'm a Westerner, so I find all these prudish cliches amusing at most, they don't reflect my own values).
And C dramas are full of these funny prudish rules. Recently there have been more "progressive" (by Chinese standards) dramas with divorced FLs, courtesan FLs, unmarried FL with a child... But there is always some other factor where they try to make the FL seem less "immoral" (rolls eyes). E.g. A Dream of Splendor, she's an ex courtesan but....miraculously still a virgin! Because many Chinese people have very bad views about people who have had more than one sexual partner (or any at all for that matter), although they're more forgiving of sexually experienced men than women.
But the standard C drama FL: naive, inexperienced, virgin, skinny, beautiful and in need of saving by a Knight in shining armour or guided by an experienced male hand. 🤣 lmao
I was in love with Zhang Xue Ying after her last drama ( Double Love ) but now the director and writer want us…
Her performance in Princess Silver was phenomenal. She's so beautiful but she is capable of such depth of emotion! Such a fantastic and seriously underrated drama. I've been waiting for her to give us another gem like that ever since!
It doesn't start airing in my region till end of Jan... sigh... What do you all think? Was the second part as good as / better than / worse than the first part?
What a wonderful drama with a fresh take on the genre. Love that the FL was an older woman and a mother. Wonderful. Cannot recommend this enough. ❤❤❤
I’m going to laugh if the moon god doesn’t appear until the last 20 min of ep 40
Sorry friend but I think that season 2 is a hoax / rumour. Love and Redemption is already a complete story. It's also extremely rare to get a second season (even when the first part is unfinished) and they are usually a flop. Many dramas supposedly waiting for a second season have just never happened despite the drama's success because C drama world doesn't have the sense to contract their cast in advance for seasons like they do in the West, so actors book up years in advance and by the time they have an opening, the second season has become less relevant.
Tell me about it! Haha! It's an addiction. I almost lost interest in Western dramas lol. I only watch one when there's no C or K drama to watch. (I love K dramas too!) And yes my profile picture is NiNi from Love & Destiny! I'll send you a friend request and we can move the conversation to messages if that's cool with you?
Ha! Exactly the same!!! I was really ill and could only lie in bed and watch Netflix where I discovered Rise of the Phoenixes, and then Eternal Love and I was hooked. I love how Netflix has introduced me to more non-English language content. Rise of the Phoenixes was a masterpiece. What a stunning production. The costumes!!! Wow. Even the fabric was high quality. (Thank you Netflix budget!)
ROTP ending was heartbreaking and still beautifully done. Frustrating for sure, but it was poetic. I've rewatched it too many times lol. Ni Ni and Chen Kun, just wow. What powerful performances.
Haha, exactly my struggle! I really can't stand baby act FL no more! C drama, please change!Anyway, it is less…
Agreed. Also, Xu Lu has definitely performed better in previous roles... I was hopeful, but this drama is just more of the same bs. These things are usually the director's "stylistic" choice. *rolls eyes*

C dramas need at least 60 episodes to get through the plot lol. All the best xianxias have lots of episodes. If it's a rushed ending, I will be frustrated too. They could have just done what some other dramas have done this year and got round the rules by making two parts.
