I'll speak for myself, I can't take any more BLS from schools, colleges and offices, they're unbearably boring.
sorry, I don’t understand what it has to do with my question. this show is not any of these genres. I asked why it has to be dark? criminal comedy is not something that is seen in BL genre often. it’s not an office, college or high school one. it’s very original. but people complain that it’s not realistic and dark enough. why everything has to be realistic I asked.
I guess people have their reasons to dislike a show, feel disappointed by a show and rate a show lower than others.…
I think it’s because there’s a difference between dark gritty SHOW and dark gritty MOMENTS. It’s like in Kidnap Q having panic attack bc his whole childhood of a being a cop’s kid and Min trying to pay his brother’s medical bills and almost dying bc of debtors is also dark, but the whole show’s vibe itself is not. And that’s tbh how I like it. I honestly don’t get why people want everything to be dark. In such shows it kinda loses the point to me personally.
From what I’ve seen people want it to be a “realistic representation of criminal world” which is just hilarious to me, bc 1st like.. WHY? lol you can watch documentaries for this if you want. The main purpose of most shows is entertainment, not education. And definitely you can’t expect a realistic criminal representation from a show called “U STEAL MY HEART”. Like yeah, it’s gonna be about them uniting, soothing each other, love prevails, evil is defeated. If you want a show about real life of Thailand poor society in all of its dark aspects, a real ex criminalist giving an interview about his past experience from prison and etc, it’s definitely not it. Idk why would you even expect it from this, nor the title nor the trailer nor the promotion implied that it’s gonna be this, that’s why I’m curious where is it even coming from.
I’m really trying not to troll people who genuinely thought that shows with titles “U Steal My Heart” & “Secret contract for Love” are gonna be documentaries about human trafficking and psychological thrillers portraying real criminal life, but it’s been hard 💀
I guess people have their reasons to dislike a show, feel disappointed by a show and rate a show lower than others.…
I guess what I meant is that some comments catch off-guard bc to me it’s like as if someone sat down to watch Titanic and then complained why it’s not funny. I ofc exaggerating here a bit, but you get what I mean. It’s a bit different from “we all have different perceptions” type of thing, it’s more about common sense.
About actual preferences tho, yes, same, I’m not really into the shows who claim to be BL but then it’s Trainee kind of situation. This is definition of misleading imo. Like for example if we take two medical shows Triage and Grey’s Anatomy (season with side gay couple), they aren’t both BL. One is BL and other one is not BL, it’s just a tv show with queer characters in it.
MDL concept of adding the tag and then complaining that the tag you yourself added is not there is just weird to me tbh. Like I can right now add to this “supernatural” tag then someone would post a review like “1/10 bc I expected supernatural and it’s not”, this site is just odd in this aspect.
I think, the trailers are always misleading. So it's not the fault of the viewers, if they expect something else.…
But MDL tags are added by viewers, no? It’s not official info, it’s people not getting the memo imo. With these two I haven’t seen any misleading in the concept, title and the trailers. I have a feeling that MDL is more misleading tbh.
Kidnap trailer made it look serious? I haven’t noticed this at all. I always thought it was melodramatic, even the title of the series is “contract for love”. I don’t see how from this people expect anything else. And the official MV OST is also pure romance. But maybe we all see things differently.
About mock trailer and real trailer being completely different, it happens a lot, nothing can be done, sometimes they can change the concept a LOT. So basing your expectations on mock trailer fully is indeed tough
I’m genuinely curious what’s up with so many people wanting so much dark realistic drama EVERYWHERE. I understand tastes are differ, but that’s just my personal curiosity talking, bc here and under Kidnap I keep seeing comments like this even though the series itself clearly didn’t have any intention to be the dark realism genre with trailer and everything surrounding it, starting with characters images. So why ask for that in a completely different genre?
I’m personally super delighted, it’s exactly what I thought it would be aka romcom with an action plot, it’s what I’ve been craving for a while now. Like actual romance with a plot, not plot with with romance sided in the back or things trying to be extra deep and depicted as if they’re explained to 1st graders, instead of focusing on entertainment and love story. Maybe it’s because I’m sharing the mindset of what Pond Naravit said “We here in Thailand do not like very dark and serious stuff”. But I’m really same in this aspect, maybe it’s bc of everything that happened in my life that I don’t want to see any of that on screen with the message “actually all is hopeless” lol
But my question is for real why ask this from shows that are clearly not it, I’m just wondering… I really hope it’s not gonna be same with The Heart Killers also (which is also clearly NOT gonna be serious). Idk I think that people need to realise that not all shows have to be realistic and serious, that would be a total snooze fest for many people if they were. There are plenty of those around, I do not get why ask for it in each one.
Even just from Joke’s tattoos you could’ve guessed that it ain’t gonna be “he’s a realistic criminal” sh*t, I mean let ppl have fun fr.
I just have a feeling that people mistakenly assume for some reason that if some “criminal” aspect is included it’s.. automatically serious (?). Is this the logic here? Bc if it is, then it’s absurd, you know, criminal romantic comedies genres are a huge hits since the beginning of times. I still to this day adore Miss Congeniality lmao
Yeah right. However, if you watch the BTS, you can see Yin and War are quite serious about the whole script. I…
Lately I for some reason do not care for any seriousness and realism. The mega dark part is not for me, I love my angst with a happy ending. Imo all of the mafia/criminal romance stuff a-priory can’t be “realistic” bc realistically it can’t be romantic, so those who try real hard to pass it as realistic usually end up hilarious to me. That’s why I actually prefer the ones like this, who just accept it for what it is.
Dark realism is just not my genre in general Thai or not Thai, stuff that is too dark leaves the nasty feeling after watching for me. There’s so much dark realism surrounding me as it is that the thought of sitting and watching some more is absurd to me. Series that are trying too hard to be deep just for the sake of being deep I just notice it too much while watching and they usually lose the point of being a piece of entertainment. I’m not really here for education, I’m already well educated. And during fluff I just fall asleep.
I also really need my romance part, I’m here for a love story with a plot, not for the mediocre plot with crumbs of romance. This is just my personal preference. Romance without plot is not satisfying for me, but plot without romance is definitely not for me either. And that’s why I’m in love with J&J and Kidnap rn. They’re both clearly unserious, but plot is there and the romance is romancing from the beginning with incredible chemistry and that’s how I like it.
Like yes, the hate part is absurd, the bank scheme was ridiculous, the fans trying to rob him part was pure comedy and most likely none of their operations are gonna be any realistic, but that is actually the charm of the series for me. Like I genuinely DO NOT want it to be realistic. This style of series is chicken soup my soul for some reason, I’m really having lots of fun watching.
I would actually be pissed if they tried to show it as realistic robberies or made a 40 minutes lecture about how illegal loans work. Nobody really needs this.
All I need is plot, love and great chemistry. Realistic is really not my priority lol
And Yinwar always seemed to me like those who give it all in any situation, even in regular series but I’m really happy they got to do some action and actually fun stuff, they’re both very dedicated, talented and worked really hard to make this series happen. I’m 100% sure all of the love they put into this will be returned 10-fold. Their chemistry is really one of the legendary ones imo and it’s very much seen.
About good writers working abroad idk lol I’m watching a lot of different pieces of media from different countries and writing in general is a problem these days, western shows are much worse these days for sure, not even just in writing but in the entertaining aspect too.
I can’t explain why but I’m always finding the most entertaining those series that do not try to take themselves seriously. I know people love “realistic and mega deep”, but for me high quality entertainment is this lol. The disclaimer aka “don’t take this seriously” was extra hilarious.
Like the hate part is not hating, sexual chemistry is 100 out of 10, nothing is boring, humor, absurdity, everything works in the most charming way so far, it’s a delight. And it’s very much seen that Yinwar were having a blast during filming, I truly think the joy from making the series passes to the screen.
I’ve been blessed, bc my fav combo is great romance (with a lot of ROMANCE) with an actual plot, but lately it’s been either all plot and romance is just not there or good romance only in slice of life type of thingy. Finally someone has some great romantic chemistry and romance is romancing while the plot is also plotting.
And yes I can’t wait for them making out in the middle of traffic, being obsessively irrationally in love with each other and dramatically trying to sacrifice for each other in the dumbest ways when all of that could’ve been prevented. I really don’t want it any dark or deep or serious, heavily political and philosophical, I just want my intense unrealistic trashy-romance-novel-like passionate romance with fan fiction action plot 😌 Give me all that nonsense, esp “I’ll do anything, just don’t hurt him” yells and tears and I’m 100% sold, I’m that unserious, this is just one of the types of content that love 😂
And ofc my fav the sassy one who craves to be loved and the whipped one who is ready to bring the world to his knees. Yes, I don’t think the trope “I’m a nightmare for most people, but a puppy for you” will ever go out of style. I have zero problems with romanticising this in fiction, in fact I’m planning on thoroughly enjoying it in The Heart Killers too lol
you know something was done right when so many people think the episode was too short even though it was longer than the first one. I also genuinely thought it was 20 minutes or something, it flew so fast.
another service top to the collection. dude will die but satisfy his man’s needs lol we’ve got a bit of a daddy issues and absent care here, we need all the care and pampering.
hope it continues this way, but again I’m always scared to be disappointed now 🌚
Don't be sad about people's ratings, take a look at this site, rarely does a BL have a high rating, apart from…
Ah no, I’m not sad, MDL ratings became a meme a long time ago, I’m only sad for people who decide to watch shows according to those. But it’s a high quality entertainment for sure to watch crazies from both sides, one rating trash shows 10/10 bc their fav in it, the others rate 0/10 bc they hate the pairing. When people are actually gonna judge shows for what it is instead of this circus idk 💀
Those who wrote several comments about “not everyone who is ON fan dislike the show, some ppl just dislike it bc they dislike it” are the most sus imo 🤣
I mean nobody said “ALL” who disliked the 1st episode are Ohmnanon fans, why you all suddenly coming out to explain yourself lol. People were just stating the fact that going from 8,6 to 7,1 in a second even though for 2 days after the ep all stayed the same is clearly massive downvote with 1 point. If you rated it 7 it wouldn’t go down so fast so rapidly, it’s just basic math. Suddenly you’re “offended” someone called you “crazy ON” (personally? and several people here?) for rating it 7? I don’t think this happened haha
Anyways after all the gmm banners and trucks and every gmm line up live comment section and ig comments from ON fans everyone knew this would happen, it was inevitable.
I still do not get btw how people rate shows after watching one episode. That is some incredible psychic abilities you all have here, I’m impressed all the time.
But the funniest to me are those who expect mega deep tragic serious show with this premise and the title “secret contract for love” 😭 You all cannot be serious. It’s time to learn a skill to detect the genre and type of the show after watching MVs and trailers. How 50% here expected something mega deep and dark stuff, I do not get LOL
But yeah “I’m not ON fan but this show sucks and Leng’s acting is bad” is most definitely ON fan type of comment haha. I get that for some the first episode might be average (in many of my fav shows I wasn’t addicted since ep1 ever, so I always give everything a fair chance), but objectively speaking none of the acting was cringe or anything for you to suddenly be so upset, unless you have other obvious reasons. It was a normal first episode, but the comment section is funny. To say it’s groundbreaking and incredible is also extra. I really think with GMM shows you can’t actually predict whether you will like it or not, for me all the fun starts since ep 4, when you for sure get if it’s your thing or not. I usually learned to guess pretty early, but ep4 is my point of continue or drop usually.
I finally caught up and before I’m officially quitting (not for me, I really tried lol), I just wanted to say that despite me seeing many here enjoying it, I’m the opposite. I actually completely understand why it doesn’t make any noise and so low on viu same as almost all GMM shows this year.
This whole year GMM concept seems to be “melancholy”. I mean, cute is not a personality. Cute also must be something grabbing and something that stands out. Like give at least one of your show some taste.
Firstly idk how to call it but it’s kinda… outdated (I know I know some would come and say “cute coming of age” stuff like this is always great but that’s not quite what I mean). This might fly in 2013, but the problem is those who were at the age in which this show would be a hit in 2013 are already not 14 and most likely prefer other types of shows. But those who are 14 RIGHT NOW (and I know this from my little sister) are also actually not interested in those type of shows. So the question is like.. for whom was it made? The plot is not here, bc it’s slice of life. But none of the relationships here can actually make you stick to the screen in any excitement. And the main couple is actually the hardest to root for or care for. They’re both very unpleasant characters. (And not in a good sense like “yay complex”, but really just… unlikable)
I still can’t do anything about the chemistry being siblings-like. And not only between the main couple. WhiteIvy are also not working at all. With Phuwin I understand the case, with Dunk idk that much about him to judge, but I’m wondering if maybe the fact that he’s friends with Lookjun’s boyfriend might affect it somehow. I mean I don’t think anyone there is super genius of actors who would be able to completely forget the world for such “epic” roles, so I genuinely think it might psychologically affect him at some point for sure. Maybe that’s why chemistry is not chemistrying with the two. But also the whole premise of relationship is just not sitting well with me. Like I’m not saying it’s impossible to fall in love on the base “we’re both broken hearted so why not” but it’s like… no thanks.
Also I know people aren’t objective, esp BL fans when they’re watching straight shows, so there are a lot of people who are like “I’m watching only for BL couple here”. But here it’s like… what to watch? They’re also incredibly boring.
I remember it all started with people being like “I can’t wait to ship everyone with everyone”, like after reaching the middle, I don’t ship anyone tbh, like I just don’t care even the slightest. And the funny fact that all are acting good, nothing is cringe, brothers/sisters chemistry is not that big a deal I mean it happens a lot in BLs too if you act okay for some it might pass, in this case it’s not like it’s some passionate romance, it’s just young teens, so it’s not that important.
Also I don’t think all this “scandals” affect the popularity of the show. During F4 Tu was attacked too and BrightWin was much larger than Pondphuwin, same with Prim during Enigma & now her new show with Gemini. Also Bright did have romantic chemistry with Tu, same as Win with Prim. I also saw G4 concert and Gemini has incredible chemistry with girls during dancing, even sexual one too, esp that one that passed by in that viral clip. I can see when they do.
I know many throw insults like “stick to hetero shows” to some BL actors, but after seeing Phuwin in all of his hetero situations, I just want to say “stick to BL” lol but I’m joking ofc
Dunk, I really haven’t decided yet. Great chemistry with Ryu, with Lookjun not really (again might be bc she’s a girlfriend of his friend so he just sees her as a sister). With Joong fire chemistry ofc, with Ohm Pawat too so idk I’m just observing lmao
And again people are always telling me something like “you don’t understand, it’s just a cute coming of age show” (for 15x time about gmm this year). But again cute also must have a personality. I’m really bad at explaining maybe, but I’m really not surprised they have so much flops this year.
I mean On1y One also airs rn. It’s also just a slice of life, but like.. how did they make it so consuming and atmospheric that many are running to watch. So much soul in it somehow, even though sometimes nothing is happening in the episode.
I don’t see the soul here fr. It’s like meh okay passable. Would there not be popular BL actors in this one, I really doubt anyone would tune in. But with all my love for the boys, im quitting early as usual haha I’m just not interested in seeing any of these couples together. Watching it for romance is definitely not it. There are too many great hetero shows with incredible romantic chemistry, so that’s not it. Watching for friendships or interesting dynamics is also not it. Bc everything is basic and predictable.
And I still suggest GMM to try and think outside of the box, bc everyone around them is trying and that would be very sad if they ate them all and continued with their boring boredom. And we won’t have anyone who’s trying anymore.
I’m really curious what is wrong with me personally, but so far there are three GMM BL ships that caused this major craze and were huge hits (Ohmnanon, GeminiFourth, Brightwin) and for some reason I do not get the hype of even ONE of those, to me they’re all bro-ey chemistry and I’m starting to wonder that maybe people really like bro-type ships (?) or my taste is just weird. I’m ok with weird taste, but that’s just funny. Like I tried to understand and get into one of those but no matter how much I looked I still couldn’t understand, yet the world seems to be obsessed. And I’m here just🧍♂️👀
I honestly wish we’d have more sassy “bottoms” in charge, who are a bit rude and cheeky at times you know, but bring their men to their knees with being blunt. With that “rich bitch” vibe with you know CHARACTER haha I’m such a fan of this dynamics, but GMM only gave me Nueng and then I was like “thank god Dunk will finally get to play this as Style in THK” and now clearly Leng joins in. I couldn’t be happier this year lol This type, when they choose their man, it’s for eternity and they will consume them and eat them alive xD
Q will definitely have this puppy wrapped around his finger, he’s already weak for him and he just yelled at him and trolled him a couple of times. In the preview cat is already going for the flirty flirt attack, I feel bad for Min RIP LMAO
Also I was correct, they really give off the vibes of “A fisherman boy from a village, are you seriously thinking you’re qualified to protect me? Don’t make laugh. You were watching over me in a cap? You’re not gonna EAt? Don’t tell this to me, tell this to him. This means “idiot” in Chinese.” 🤣🤣 And in return it’s just: 🥺🐶🥺🐶🥺😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘
Pls GMM don’t ruin this, this year I’m already scared of your projects, but hope don’t die
Yup, those are the right words. I hope the upcoming dramas will be better. But I'm actually starting to worry…
It’s all very sad to me. I get that they have a lot of artists and they all need jobs, but these shows where it’s really a bunch of people and none are written properly is pissing me off so badly. It’s really better to put away some things, wait or do less, than do this. On the other hand if they do less, many of their artists won’t have jobs, it’s like a cursed circle. And they keep getting more and more, while their writing and directing teams are clearly struggling.
And all the storylines aren’t even logically concluded. They throw some stuff in and it brings nothing to the plot or the characters and you’re just sitting there like.. okay but why?
Also I always say that they usually struggle to write even two characters, idk why this year they decided that it’s a good idea to throw 20 in every show so they just were there. It’s really starting to feel like “we need these actors to be there, so they would get paid, but actually we’re not planning to use them in any way”. And official CPs are there just to promote the show and make people watch.
I have a feeling (after seeing everything GMM related in 2024) that since this year is the first year that GMM increased the amount of their shows x2 with this p1p2, they have a hard time navigating all that and their artists&directors schedules with shooting. I keep hoping this trial period will end soon, I really don’t want to give up on Kidnap, The Heart Killers, Thame Po & Pluto. I hope they get their shit together by the end of this year, cause this first part was a huge disappointment. I genuinely do not understand the point of some shows… some were just really made way too fast to give them some time, others are really like.. were the actors even free to shoot this, it seems like they weren’t lol
The amount of the artists keeps growing and growing, but directors and writers aren’t, so it’s clearly a big problem, but they only get more artists. I have a feeling that the amount of shows with shitton of ppl in it is gonna increase, but the quality of characters writing is getting lower and lower, bc it’s impossible to write them properly in such conditions tbh.
Some are calling it ensemble shows as if it’s a quality writing about everything, but what we get is actually a whole lot about nothing, nothing is connected, nothing is balanced, a lot is going in circles and some things are just forgotten, it’s just a bunch of… stuff.
When I said that Bahmee didn’t feel anything for Judy and did it just bc she was the first person to give her attention no one agreed with me, but it was very obvious tbh. As is said that wasn’t supposed to be any romantic storyline between them. It was clear that she loves Tae, she just wanted him to be a little more attentive. In fact she doesn’t like many attention, she likes taking care of her partner, it seems to be her love language. That’s why she picked Tae in the first place, he was like that from the beginning. She picked him in school bc she wanted this dynamics herself. All she wanted is him to react actually, that’s it, she didn’t want him to be the one taking care of her in a relationship. She liked their dynamics. You might not like it, but it is what it is, I’ve seen a lot of such situations aka “I just wanted a bit of attention and spark back, I actually don’t want anyone new”. It happens all the time. It’s clearly not a show ppl here expect when everyone would unrealistically get their BL and GL couplings out of nowhere, even when it clearly doesn’t fit the character, I’ve heard people even wanting Jimmy to come in, but I really don’t see how this all fits here tbh, I’m sorry.
I mean when they showed flashbacks of Bahmee choosing Tae in school it was clearly seen that she liked him bc she wanted to be his “mom”. Otherwise she wouldn’t pick him. Idk why ppl just skipped this part and decided it doesn’t exist. Her being upset at him for her taking care of him and wanting the opposite makes no sense. She just wanted him to react to her taking care of him.
JaneRyan imo is a perfect example of wrong pacing aka when you dragged it for too long and it’s already not as interesting. Their tension was so incredible up to recently, I was really waiting and waiting for it to explode, bc that would be perfection. But no, instead we go the kindergarten route yet again “I like you” “but do you like me” “I do” “but do you really?”. I expected it all to be more mature and different vibe, but that is once again my idiotic imagination having its own expectations. I feel like they missed the moment and now it’s already zzzzzz.
The conclusion is I really thought maybe this is gonna be the first GMM show this year that I would like, but instead it’s again a no for me sadly. It’s a good quality show production wise, but just not for me.
From what I’ve seen people want it to be a “realistic representation of criminal world” which is just hilarious to me, bc 1st like.. WHY? lol you can watch documentaries for this if you want.
