The rating is reflective of the happiness people are getting from this show. Because if it was based on the plot, which is nonexistent, it should be much lower. They had a chance to do a rare thing and blew it.
This is going to be one of those dramas that people are critical of while it's airing but it will become this cute thing for those who watch it later with lowered expectations. Once I clocked that they had no idea what to do with the plot and were running on vibes, I enjoyed it.
A lot of people are watching this drama and talking about it. It might not have many memes or clips flying around on IG/TikTok, but it has solid viewership. Plus a ton of hate watchers and outright haters. What else can a good drama ask for? :)
I haven't started this yet but I will watch it for Lee Seo-jin (I love him) and Won Tae Min. I am seeing a lot of comments about how "they took the web novel..." Was this produced without the say-so of the original creator? Was the creator blackmailed, forced, or pressured for their work to be adapted into a drama? I always reiterate on this site that when something is adapted from one form to another, it becomes a completely different animal as the producers want to optimise for the format they've chosen.
That said, I'll be super upset if a book I love is changed in any way. I'll understand it, but I'll be mad about it. So I get a lot of the comments I'm seeing here. I hope the boycott works and fewer BL storylines get written out during adaptations.
It'll also help to support Korean BLs as much as possible so it becomes economically viable for filmmakers to invest in them. Sad state of affairs but that's the capitalist world we live in.
honestly im wondering if i should watch it bc of the FL. I was hoping they would cast someone more good looking...not…
The answer to your comment is in the comment itself. You don't think the FL is good looking enough, or a good enough actor, or fits the character. You're already set to dislike the drama. Don't waste your time watching it. Look for something else you have more positive expectations of and watch that.
You're a hater and I f*ck with that. You should have mentioned the name of the show though. Hate right. Lovely…
Ah. You've misunderstood me. Saying "I f*ck with that" is like saying "I can get behind that". Something along those lines. And there's no need to hint at the show when you can just say its title.
I don't think that highly of Lovely Runner. Atypical Family is a much better show in my opinion. I was only trying to bring some balance but I see now that it was the wrong move.
I hope you leave more comments about the good points of Atypical Family. Happy watching.
If they stick the landing, this will be a rewatchable show.
I felt contempt for Da-hee for the first time this ep, Still love her but I got really frustrated with her in the scene with Gwi-ju where he asked her to tell the truth. Glad she finally understands what she's dealing with.
I'm curious about what I-na said about her previous marriages. Seems there's a layer to her marrying them beyond the scams. Hope to see what that's about in the coming eps.
People on this site are not obsessed with the couple's looks, hence the reason this show is not scoring a 9-10…

Lovely Runner has a beautiful male lead who can act so yes, it's getting tons of support from fans. To call it a "cheap knock-off" is unfair as there are very few stories that haven't been told before. I'm pretty sure if I dig deep enough I'll find something similar to this drama.
You also have no way to prove that fans of Lovely Runner are rating this show low. People hated (they were writing paragraphs) Dahee from ep 1. Once judgmental people deem a female lead unlikeable, immoral, etc, they tank the ratings. I'm sure we'll see the ratings improve over time so long as the show continues to deliver.
if you check the stats of this drama, you'll find that it appeals to people across all age groups. That's always a good sign.
I forget the point I was trying to make but you'll type your fingers sore hating on another drama in the comment section of a drama you actually like.
This was one of the first kdramas I watched. Rewatching it all these years later and it still holds up. It's even better the second time around. Shin Won-ho PD and Lee Woo-jung writer-nim are a winning combo.
This is the one drama that could have done without the romance of the main lead. I'm pretty flexible around romance sub-plots but this one was unnecessary. There were so many other richer and more impactful relationships and the romance just felt like a tack-on. It's the only reason I'm not increasing my rating by .5 and making this a perfect 10.
Lovely summary by the way.
