I didn’t read this novel, but based on novel readers for this, it also has a very chill attitude in the characters;) I find it cool that the both the author’s work were adapted, one XuanHuan and the other XianXia. Both have actually quite well written ML and FL characterisation.
MZY is calm composed and powerful and once fallen in love, it’s all about protecting his love;). And both FL are also strong witty in their own ways, likeable. Except the SML issues were script writers initiative and recent trend of glorifying SML role.

If you are here for Ryan Cheng, it’s worth it. I believe his involvement with this drama is only first 10ep.

Ryan can kiss, he does well with other co-stars in other shows. I felt the problems is the FL’s response, if she is uncomfortable, may as well they just show us their chemistry and do without that awkward kiss.
But I do like their on screen chemistry.

They have lots of good moments…but if FL doesn’t know how to response in a kiss, I rather they don’t do it. 😅. Ryan can kiss, if you see him in other shows, he is good at kiss, so I felt the problem here lies with FL being uncomfortable. But saying so, I love their chemistry;). Yes, that hug by that sea is so sweet.

He is a character portraying strong love for his country and a man of principle.

My complaint, the kiss at ep 9🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. ML tried to kiss but why is FL responding like a dead fish?

Ep 9 & 10 is wow…Mr Zeng is a man with principle! That Zeng politician is actually not so bad.

You are accurate in your observation. Based on novel readers, this story is actually male centric, suppose to focus more on Mei ZhuYu’s journey to uncover his family roots and demon world. However I felt it’s the screenplay decision to try to balance this story with a stronger portrayal of female character, hence this drama seems to sway towards focusing too much on FL and even SML. But in the end, it’s still a fun watch and the ending came to a full circle closure. Enjoy the slow ride;).

This is a female centric drama, started out from Lin’s family, their old house, with Lin Si Yun’s story as the beginning arc. I think the MLs are all supportive role to their journey.

Hahahah…I totally get you. The complication of warching too many complicated plots, make our mind overthink in the simplest;). I am enjoying this too. Just hope for Republican era drama, the couples can survive and have good endings.

Hi, it’s okayish. I just watched two ep. very action packed. YXW can do his fight scenes well. The dynamic of relationship with the older ML and his character here is a little similar to Strange tales of Tang, but here focus on modern police and drug raid. I would prefer Strange Tale of Tang kind of story. I see how after a few more ep.
