Me too!!! So excited.... I hope they will release couple posters too soon.

All female cast members look very pretty and all male cast look very handsome.... So glad they released official cast members list with photos... Fox Spirit Matchmaker series has paid so much attention to costumes... It will be a pleasure to watch next year.

From the conversation of Madame Wu and her mother we came to know that Wu Lian does not have any physical relations with her so the medine for fertility cannot help her conceive...

Madame Wu told her mother that Wu Lian knew that she was not a virgin when they got married so he does not sleep with her.

I also wondered after this episode, if Wu Lian started abusing the young ladies after his marriage as a pay back and compensation OR it was because he exploited other women it was providence that his wife was not a virgin.

Lou Ming Zhang's wife preening like a peacock at the restaurant because of the exclusive golden embroidery dress she was gifted which was supposed to be one of the kind, embroidered by Wu Lian himself over a span of few months and then suddenly few dancers enter the restaurant room where Lou Ming Zhang, his wife, mrs. Ning and Meng Wan are dining and to Madame Lou's shock and disgust they are sporting similar dress as her and dancing.... To add insult to injury Liu San Niang who apologised for disturbing them as the girls had entered the wrong room, goes to Madame Lou and asks her to hurry up and go to another room... I don't think Madame Lou would ever desire to wear yanyu embroidery ever 😝🤣🤣....Madame Lou'a horrified and disgusted expression was hilarious

Yeah.. It does make you wonder how many girls did end up getting pregnant... My guess is many...... Even Ding Ru who died was pregnant as RuLan found a prescription for abortion in her belongings after her death... Ding Ru's mother suspected that she was killed and did not commit suicide.....

At this point my conjecture is that if a girl does get pregnant, she would abort the child/she would be married off quickly by her parents/she would comit suicide from the fear of disgrace/ she would be killed off by Wu Lian's underling.... So I believe none would have actually given birth and publicly acknowledged him as a father.... If Meng and there is a 'Big IF' to it.... If Meng Wan does give birth to his child, his wife would be compelled by him or may voluntarily accept that child.


I believe Wu Lian's in-laws are quite rich and influential...However I don't think they have helped him financially because he relies on the backing of Mrs.Ning.... But being associated with influential in laws always has its advantage.

I agree with you 100%...it is a very sensitive issue and it would be very helpful if parents would be open and discuss 'good touch and bad touch' with their children, both boys and girls.... Oftentimes such abuse of minors happen right under the parents nose because it usually is a trusted person who takes advantage of children's vulnerability.... It may be a family friend/ cousin /uncle or aunt/ teachers/ doctors etc...

In this series also I believe all the girls are underage around 15 to 16 and their parents trusted Wu Lian and sent them to his place, so he is a predator abusing his position.

I agree with you on the Women not supporting women... Wu Lian was enabled because he has support of Mrs. Ning, even his wife supported him because she turned a blind eye on the abuse of other women right under her nose just to get his acceptance also she went to RuLan's house to convince them to marry RuLan as a concubine.... Even the ladies at the temple instead of supporting other lady were the primary accusers, all due to petty jealousy......


But I have a different opinion compared to you of Meng Wan... I feel she truly would have/ will support RuLan... In episode 9, RuLan and Meng Wan had a conversation regarding this issue... Meng Wan told RuLan that if they could go back in time and if RuLan would ask again for Meng Wan's advice to file a case against Wu Lian, Meng wan would give the same answer as before(not to file a case) but Meng Wan said now that you have already filed the case, you(RuLan) cannot back down you have to continue to fight and Meng Wan herself and other girl whom Meng Wan had convinced both would testify together as victims (we don't know if this will work) ..... Earlier also after RuLan had filed the case Meng Wan had volunteered to testify but RuLan was too angry or for other unknown reasons had refused to take Meng Wan to court....

As for Meng Wan's unborn child, as you pointed out she did seem reluctant to have an abortion.... My speculation is either she had a miscarriage or her child was snatched away by wu lian's wife, Madame Wu(Madame Wu's mother was persistent that she should have a child but her husband is not sleeping with her so adopting her husband's child with another woman would be the best solution) ...

Let's see what other revelations await us in the coming episodes.

*Meng wan's plan has some set backs, Wu Lian is more clever than he appears, he has meticulously planned everything leaving no physical evidence behind.

*Did Wu Lian start exploiting his female students after he married and knew his wife was not a virgin? Or is it providence that he married a woman who had lost her virginity before her marriage?

* Meng Wan did manage to break Wu Lian on finance front because his income from evading taxes has come to an end, but Wu Lian's backer Mrs. Ning is a tough cookie to crack.

* These were lighter episodes compared to previous ones... In this we see that men prey on women because they are supported by other women... Often times it is a woman who enables a man to exploit other women.

Oh... Maybe I was not clear, I know from the synopsis that there will be 9 people who will form an alliance to punish Wu Lian... I meant at that moment only two people were on the ship and they seem cornered but suddenly Shen Mu entered, at the end of episode 6 I had presumed he had come as per Meng Wan's plan but he joined their association later. So his presence was just creative writing and not her plan..

I too agree with your theory of RuLan keeping Meng Wan at a distance because she doesn't want Meng Wan's future to be ruined by associating and ading RuLan.

Meng Wan says that each lantern is wrapped in soft paper but tough and unyielding inside like a woman.

1.Meng Wan's lantern "wait in the boudoir for seven years, nothing is forgotten. "

2.Li Jia Hang's lantern " Give a treasure hairpin to the hero. Ignite a candle light. "

3. Liu Sanniang's lantern "A leaf in the vast ocean, floating and sinking between heaven and earth. "

4. Shen Mu's lantern "The young man goes with the wind and returns in time. "

Meng Wan preparing handwoven lanterns and hanging them in a circle is metaphorically compared to a trap closing around Wu Lian...

Each Lantern has a unique line written for all 9 people who will aid Meng Wan in her quest for revenge... Till episode 8 we have been introduced to 4 people, 5 more to go in coming episodes.

Sweet designer with her childhood love, their story providing a breath of fresh air on a sunny day... Their love story will be more tender.

Both love stories providing a mix of sweet and spicy while all them together struggling to even the odds stacked against them. It would be a fun drama, with good main leads and support casts.....

I am looking forward to it's release with eagerness.

Hopefully on 21st September after iqiyi's ijoy investor conference there will be some news of this drama's release.

* RuLan was very brave to step forward but she was naive to trust the justice system... In the whole world justice works when an ordinary person seeks justice against another ordinary person.... But when an ordinary person accuses a person in power, laws get bent, twisted and broken, this is sad but true reality... Ru Lan did not have sufficient proof but she believed in her honesty and trusted that justice can be obtained by anyone... She saw that in the court of law, burden of proof was on her, her rape was turned into seduction and public supported the powerful Wu Lian, to add insult to injury Wu Lian accepted that he slept with her and to compensate her he would marry her as a concubine... How is this justice when a woman is asked to marry her abuser as a solution?? But sadly in many places this is considered to be justice.... Moreover no other victims would come forward because public would deem them to be opportunists who slept with their teacher to gain advantage in learning and tarnish their reputation, our society is sometimes very skewed and judgemental.

* Meng Wan was correct because at that time due to lack of preparation and evidence RuLan would not have won which we will see in coming episodes.... So Meng Wan will have a better chance to gain revenge than RuLan who was honestly seeking justice.

* inspite of her failure, Ru Lan standing up for her rights was very necessary because someone has to pave the way for others... her failure induced others to take action so in future other innocent girls would be saved.

Episode 6

I was so impressed with Shen Mu's entry at the end of episode 6...just when I thought Meng Wu's plan was too simple to work with only two people, there was a twist in the end... Hope there are more such surprises ahead.

My thoughts on RuLan's case from episode 5 in spoiler tag below

Watched till episode 4...I am really liking the two episodes released per day format, one is in the past ( seven years earlier) and other is in the present( seven years later)... Both episodes together tells us the past story leading to the present alliance forming to take revenge.

Though the plan so far is quite simple, I am enjoying the acting of various cast members... Even the actor playing the character of Wu Lian is doing a fabulous job of portraying the character as a sleazy scumbag.

I really liked the use of the pearl hairpin in episode 3 and 4, it became a symbol to seek justice and retribution.

Also, would like to mention the hand woven lanterns by Meng Wan, the meticulous care that she puts into them reflects her dedication in seeking justice, wordings on those lanterns reflect the association and background of the new character who has joined her plan.

I agree with you... I was just thinking that while writing the review of this drama, best suitable title would be "Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold” .... Meng Wan has really become a lady who has her emotions well under control like a person who has nothing left to lose, it is a good contrast from seven years earlier where she was very concerned and trying her best to save RuLan.
