Wait. I forgot. How did Wen Qing die? Did she die together with the Wen elders? I think I didn't see her hanged…
WoH really made the censors into fools, LOL.
Everybody says WQ and WN were killed and burned - that's why WWX is so surprised when WN comes when he's playing the flute trying to attract some fierce corpses to help him. In the novel, it's mentioned more than once, so you can't miss it.
Haha, HuaiSang was a surprise for anyone who hadn't read the novel before watching the drama :D But he is there in the very first episode, with his patterned coat (that LWJ later cuts up by the Nie Clan tombs, after the past flashback ends), and his infamous fan (WWX even remarks on the fan and remembers NHS is cherishing it a lot, since it was something related to his brother MingJue.)
There were clues... but NHS is sneaky :D
There is no ambiguous relationship between WWX and Jiang Cheng - JC is mainly jealous, frustrated and always kind of mad at WWX and his easy relationships with people, LWJ in particular (but you might have noticed how easy WWX would make friends, and how awkward JC is about it.) And JC loves him as a brother indeed, and wants to be able to care and help him, but it's rather hard to do something like that for someone who finds trouble so easy, like WWX, LOL.
As for the WWX and LWJ relationship... LWJ is an introvert AND he was raised to be a block of ice, whereas WWX is a burning flame at all times (even when he's in the wrong, LOL). It's a fire and ice story. There were a few more open loving moments in the novel and in the donghua, but very much of the drama was faithful to the novel and the best intimate scenes are left to the ending. The novel, Mo Dao Zu Shi (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) is focused on the story first, and the romance second,.
Anyway, glad you gave it a chance. If you want to see more, there's an animation series (a donghua) based on the novel, and obviously the novel itself :D
Wait. I forgot. How did Wen Qing die? Did she die together with the Wen elders? I think I didn't see her hanged…
She and Wen Ning went to give themselves up when the Jin Clan promised they'd leave the rest and WWX alone. Then the Jin Clan went ahead and killed her and burned her body (offscreen) and gave Wen Ning over to Meng Yao and Xue Yang to put the nails in his head.
So she wasn't there with the rest of the Wen Clan.
(Actually, the rest of the Wen Clan weren't there either, LOL, except in the drama. In the novel, they all die in the Burial Mounds and even come back later to help in another battle. The donghua tells a bit about it but changes it too, so it's not exactly as in the novel either.)
PS If TU is innocent bromance, LOL, indeed the censors did their job. I'd love to see some men looking at each other like LWJ is looking at WWX though and say it's just bromance :D
1. The FL entered the dragon's dream. But is the dream the past (prior to the point where they discovered the…
Point 2 was mentioned before by someone who had read the novel (I'm waiting for SL TL to be finished, because the MTL isn't great).
Point 3 makes sense - because if he was still TTJ, he would definitely remember LSS (and her talismans, and her weapons, and her everything, because that's how xianxia works usually LOL). It's not mentioned HER face being changed when she went to the past, so I think her and YXW's faces are the same.
Future-era DG says something like "it's you" addressing LSS, but nothing like what a spurned lover she had tried to kill would act like, more like, "oh, you're also here, another unimportant fly to swat".
So on point 3 it's more of a guess, but on the others, I'm pretty sure. Of course the drama isn't over yet, there's time to switch some things around.
1. The FL entered the dragon's dream. But is the dream the past (prior to the point where they discovered the…
1. It's not the past, because the God of Time didn't remember her in particular, she's just the Chosen One to break the curse (maybe). That past did happen, just not to them, but the dragon (Ming Ye) and the Ancient Devil God and all the rest.
2. The Ancient Devil God's face is TTJ's face because TTJ is set for the current reincarnation of the ADG. He's a sacrifice from the YiYue tribe for that purpose.
3. It's the same dragon but now he's gone. The evil ADG will be the future DG after TTJ dies with the Devil Bone inside him.
4. The Gods have to cultivate and spend tens of thousands of years to gather power. The ADG gets it served from eating up smaller devils, and from the hatred and other evil feelings of mankind. He can't lose basically.
That is correct. Everything's been edited and condensed into these 40 episodes.
It wasn't edited to be condensed. Each episode has about 55 mins of content (not including op and ed). Every other drama is about 45 mins op and ed included. So like an extra 10-15 mins per episode than the regular drama, at least 400 to 600 mins more than you'd expect with such a length.
Other than splitting it into seasons, this would be the other option to keep the content and release it continuously, to pass the new length rules.
He also used the Wood-Alluring Jade and might think it did something to the poison so he didn't die. They still…
Nah, supposedly once MingLang was dead, there was no other Tantai prince, so they had to have him or no king. And the Sheng Empire was already at the borders. And even so the nobles threw a tantrum. There was no time skip.
He and YXW didn't have a chance to talk about the Jade because she was already gone. And he didn't know what the Jade could do, anyway, she didn't talk about it much. Maybe he's okay with the idea of a short life and a brutal death anyway, so he doesn't care. He doesn't know she took it from him, either.
Maybe it'll come in discussion once he discovers love and wants to live for her (presumably.)
Although TTJ getting played by YXW, this episode was so sweet and funny. This drama rarely has such scenes so…
I saw the BTS on that scene, LOL, he kept breaking out of the role because LYX was looking at him so directly and shocked, LOL, so Li JiaHao (Nian BaiYu) kept laughing. Eventually he tried moving his eyes from LYX (TTJ's) face and to BL (YXW) and managed to stay serious to get a pass on the scene :D
They were having fun filming it, no wonder they're all meshing so well :D
(SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T SEE UNTIL THE LASTEST EPISODE 18)One thing that I still don't understand and that…
He also used the Wood-Alluring Jade and might think it did something to the poison so he didn't die. They still haven't had a good talk about WHERE she went afterward, and what she did until they met again at the dragon's river.
Also, there's a little box to tick that says "spoiler" in the left-side under the comment box, so if you check it, nobody sees the spoiler until they've clicked to open it.
Will they not so the scene were YXW add something in TTJ's food and he is having siviour itching and he asks her…
What I appreciated best this ep was that HE IS TRYING. He's trying to be a good king, he's trying to get over severe education impairing. he's trying to play along with YXW's antics (I mean, he's eating the freaking food!! O.o)
He still has the Devil Bone and she's still trying to get her final weapons to kill him, and he doesn't deserve it - not yet anyway. And it's heartbreaking, because he never had anyone to trust before and he's starting to trust she actually, really-really, doesn't want him to die. So he's building on sand already and we're all aware.
Myself, I liked the sweetness, but it's more of a bittersweet series of moments since I keep realising LSS/YXW is NOT romancing him for real, she's just lying to him in order to get the SOUL-SLAYING NAILS (SOUL-slaying, that's gruesome... she doesn't want him to even retain a soul after he's gone :()
The way everybody watching ep 19 wants to let themselves go and enjoy the sweet moments... and yet each of us is already mentally preparing ourselves for what's to come... :(
I do NOT like how TTJ is so earnest in trying to be a good king, AND poisoning himself on YXW's dangerous food, and she only gets giddy when she can get a Soul-Slaying Nail growing... He's starting to love her for real, and she's still after his death...
This is going to be so heartbreaking :*(
Pian Ran: Give him your food, he would be easy to conquer if you go through his stomach! Also Pian Ran: TTJ, you just wait, I'll have my second-hand revenge on you yet! :D
Nian BaiYu's face when YXW was playing the angry maid was priceless :D
This is so sweet, I guess we're in for a world of pain soon...
After ep1, I'll give this a skip BUT if anyone knows what the song is that was playing in the background when Souta is eating his ramen in the nude, please share! It sounds a bit ethnic (maybe Hindi-based?) but it also sounds amazing and I'd love to hear more of it.
PS isn't his name SOUTA? It appears as Futa in the description...
What, are they supposed to be a real-life cp? They were together in Love is Sweet too, they're friends. I am interested…
As I said... they ARE already friends. So he'd call her "sis" informally. I know between actors/directors/crew they're also using Laoshi as a term of respect and to mark age differences, particularly if they're new acquaintances but TBH, I've seen a lot of jiejie and ge's thrown around in BTS parts. Maybe it depends on the crew or if they've worked together before.
