I fully understand why he did all the things he did. He is driven by both political and personal motives. He is not as cruel as he seems to be. However, I do think he pushes it to the extreme. One thing that bugs me is how he ends up making her see the bad consequences of her decisions. He also wants it all.
This is a drama that you have to watch carefully. It is easy to get emotional and only focus on the romance, but it’s important to also pay attention to the politics in order to understand the characters better and not get swept up.
I just finished watching and I have mixed feelings about this drama.
GU JIN ZHAO, ATTA GIRL 👏😍😮💨🥹💕
That street scene genuinely had me holding my breath. It was so sad and heartbreaking. Of course, I’m happy our couple finally got married, but Ye Xian’s storyline is just devastating. Honestly, I’m glad he stepped aside and let Yan Yun and Jin Zhao pass, because I would’ve been disappointed otherwise. The way he lowered his gaze as they walked by felt like acceptance, or at least the beginning of it, and I’m glad the writers chose that direction. Ye Xian, I really hope you get your happy ending too.
And to our sadboy scholar, please don’t rage bait me. Just suffer quietly for now.
I understood Zhan Zhao’s character, but honestly, I was starting to get tired of his constant sense of justice because I thought he would just refuse to truly hurt anyone in the name of justice.
But that action scene changed my perspective. He’s just someone who refuses to act as judge, jury, and executioner because he’s bound by the law. That doesn’t mean he won’t fight back though. He’ll absolutely break bones and spill blood to protect himself and others if he has to… he just won’t kill.
I love how even the way he fights reflects that, like how he’d rather turn his sword and strike with the hilt than point the blade at someone.
But for real, episode 26 is so unlucky for him. Not only did he lose his love, but he’s also about to lose his family. It really seems like the writers are set on making him suffer.
Anyway, the kid is one smart little emperor. I’m impressed! Stay good, kid. 🙂↕️
